RIP School Survival Forums
August 2001 - June 2017
The School Survival Forums are permanently retired. If you need help with quitting school, unsupportive parents or anything else, there is a list of resources on the Help Page.
If you want to write about your experiences in school, you can write on our blog.
To everyone who joined these forums at some point, and got discouraged by the negativity and left after a while (or even got literally scared off): I'm sorry.
I wasn't good enough at encouraging people to be kinder, and removing people who refuse to be kind. Encouraging people is hard, and removing people creates conflict, and I hate conflict... so that's why I wasn't better at it.
I was a very, very sensitive teen. The atmosphere of this forum as it is now, if it had existed in 1996, would probably have upset me far more than it would have helped.
I can handle quite a lot of negativity and even abuse now, but that isn't the point. I want to help people. I want to help the people who need it the most, and I want to help people like the 1996 version of me.
I'm still figuring out the best way to do that, but as it is now, these forums are doing more harm than good, and I can't keep running them.
Thank you to the few people who have tried to understand my point of view so far. I really, really appreciate you guys. You are beautiful people.
Everyone else: If after everything I've said so far, you still don't understand my motivations, I think it's unlikely that you will. We're just too different. Maybe someday in the future it might make sense, but until then, there's no point in arguing about it. I don't have the time or the energy for arguing anymore. I will focus my time and energy on people who support me, and those who need help.

Don't force your sick kids to school!
I'm positive I'm sick. Sore throat, coughing, and dry heaving. It developed during the day today and I'm definitely going resist going to school tomorrow.
There are plenty of kids at my school that are forced, when sick, to keep going to school. Then school administrators, teachers, etc. insist we wash our hands and have "proper hygiene" when, as it is with the literacy rate in the US, they're trying to solve the problem the wrong way. There needs to be a policy that prevents kids that are decently sick from staying in school. Now, I don't mean invasive checks on us like taking our temperature when we enter the building, but if we're hacking and coughing in class then the teachers ask if we're sick. If someone insist they aren't because they're scared of their parents and it's pretty obvious they're sick, they get sent to the nurse. Keeping with the non-invasive theme, the nurse won't medicate the student or even touch them without the student's consent.
Just an idea.
Here's another reason to hate school: I feel there's going to be a quick, deadly virus that spreads like the black plague. The first student that has it dies and then before you know it more start dropping like flies. Then it's too late. All because parents just want their kids to have an "education."

Fuck being sick.
To cure a flu, just pour some 200 proof straight down your nose. Kills all the germs.
Downside is you may never smell again, but who cares.
Back on topic, schools will send you home if you are that sick because of the flu pandemic.

RE: Don't force your sick kids to school!
Too many kids with strep throat and the flu at my school. I'm paranoid to touch anything because I don't want to be out for a few weeks with the flu. I can't afford that shit. If you're sick then you should be in a building with thousands of other kids because you're bound to spread it to someone else, who then spreads it to more people. GET IT THROUGH YOUR HEADS PARENTS.
Who am I? Who are YOU?

Where I live, parents aren't supposed to send their sick kids to school, it's even in our agendas.

If I'm sick, my dad tries his best to make me go to school, so he can sit down and drink a few cans of lager.

Don't force your sick kids to school!
I would love to spread a contagious disease among the annoying flock of sheep at my heavily-attended and jam-packed school...but that would be highly immoral. Besides, staying home when sick is far better.

The staff at my school are idiots.
They have rules against PDA, because they think diseases can be spread by it, yet they cram 1,400 pupils into a small dining room and say it's fine.
I'm like this every time I think about that:
