RIP School Survival Forums
August 2001 - June 2017

The School Survival Forums are permanently retired. If you need help with quitting school, unsupportive parents or anything else, there is a list of resources on the Help Page.

If you want to write about your experiences in school, you can write on our blog.

To everyone who joined these forums at some point, and got discouraged by the negativity and left after a while (or even got literally scared off): I'm sorry.

I wasn't good enough at encouraging people to be kinder, and removing people who refuse to be kind. Encouraging people is hard, and removing people creates conflict, and I hate conflict... so that's why I wasn't better at it.

I was a very, very sensitive teen. The atmosphere of this forum as it is now, if it had existed in 1996, would probably have upset me far more than it would have helped.

I can handle quite a lot of negativity and even abuse now, but that isn't the point. I want to help people. I want to help the people who need it the most, and I want to help people like the 1996 version of me.

I'm still figuring out the best way to do that, but as it is now, these forums are doing more harm than good, and I can't keep running them.

Thank you to the few people who have tried to understand my point of view so far. I really, really appreciate you guys. You are beautiful people.

Everyone else: If after everything I've said so far, you still don't understand my motivations, I think it's unlikely that you will. We're just too different. Maybe someday in the future it might make sense, but until then, there's no point in arguing about it. I don't have the time or the energy for arguing anymore. I will focus my time and energy on people who support me, and those who need help.

-SoulRiser

Cooking with Hansgrohe: How to make a kickass sandwich

Hansgrohe's Kickass Sandwich

Number of Servings: 2

Code:
INGREDIENTS
1 - Pesto
2 - 2 Types of Ham (I prefer using roast beef and pastrami)
3 - 2 Types of Cheeses
4 - Mayo
5 - Mustard
6 - Tomatoes
7 - Lettuce
8 - Submarine bread (I prefer pita, but feel free to use any type of bread, even regular bread)

It's that time of the year again. We all have to go to school. One problem is that school lunch is generally nasty. Getting tired of that boring, basic ham and cheese sandwich? Want something new and festive? Read this!

1. Prepare all the ingredients, make sure you have the lettuce and tomato out.

2. Get your slice (or slices) of bread.

3. Put pesto on both sides of the bread, then put the mayo.

4. Add one slice of cheese 1, then add a part of ham 1. Then, put a slice of cheese 2, and then put a slice of ham 2. You may add an extra slice of cheese and ham if you'd like to.

5. Add your lettuce and tomato. After you've put your lettuce and tomato, add mustard on the sandwich.

6. If you'd like, you may add any more condiments that you may want on the sandwich.

7. Cut the sandwich into 2 pieces. This is optional, though recommended.

8. Another recommended step is to heat up your sandwich for 20 seconds in a microwave.

Since sandwiches are by nature cold food (though great when warm), this is a pretty basic yet tasty lunch to make. It is preferred to make the sandwich each night before school, since you don't want to rush during the day. Always make sure to pack some snacks such as chips, cookies, and a good drink!

There, my basic sandwich recipe.

Not bad. Seems suitable to my tastes. I'd probably use turkey, or better yet, pastirma. Course the latter is not as easy to come by since it has to first be prepared by the butcher, and takes about a month or so, but it tastes pretty damn good.

I would have to substitute guacamole for pesto, turkey and chicken for ham, use cream cheese instead of real cheese, tartar sauce instead of mayo, broccoli instead of lettuce, and use a bagel instead of bread cause that's all I got. Should I still make it?

Careful for the hole in the middle of that bagel.

Pretty much this. No one is stopping you from making it.

Damn the fellow who made the bagel with that pesky hole.
It was obviously a capitalist dog who wanted to save on cost of dough by eliminating a portion from the center. Smile
