I've been made fun of in school in the past and it didnt affect me at all, but this did. Some kid called me retarded out of nowhere (this was in the locker room) and everyone in the area laughed :(

Real Life:Above. However, nobody laughs and people think the one saying "You're retarded" is a jerk asshole. If in a shop, he will most likely be asked to leave. If in a club, a big muscular bald Russian man will escort him out. If in a biker bar, he will be thrown through a window.

Unfortunately this is true. This is all part of the whole "herd mentality" that's so notorious about factory model schooling. This all leads to the question on how to change things, how to change the way people react, and how to foster positive experiences and truly meaningful connections as well.

I've tried to find videos that relate somewhat to the subject at hand, and try to impersonate xcriteria here to an extent, but this is what I could find. Hope it helps.

When people fuck with you, at school more so than anywhere else, you have to fuck with them twice as hard or they're just going to keep doing it. If it gets too bad, the element of surprise can allow you to win any fight.

The majority of bullies have quite a lot of self esteem and friends. I see social outcasts poked at a lot more than anyone else. In most cases, they enjoy causing pain because they find it funny, and don't care/dislike for the other person, or even just jealousy. If others find it funny/cool, or to coerce someone into something, it's also about gaining social power.

The sad truth is that by nature humans can become sadists. When growing up, it takes a while to realise someones pain...or they just think they should "deal with it" because apparently they can too.

Not only that, but those with high self esteem tend to get over with the bad things they do quicker. Ignorance is a bliss. They may be able to deal with conflicts better, which is why they keep bullying. If they're rewarded for it by their peers, then they're going to have a higher self esteem.

I have fairly low self esteem, yet I'm a lot more sensible than the majority of people... at least on the internet anyway. It's caused mostly by my own failures.

Most people who "bully" that have low self esteem is usually verbal and caused by frustration and/or real life problems.

Most kids realise it's bad. But they get a thrill from it anyway. If we could just stop doing things instantly because they're "bad", then problems would be easily solved. That's why they do it when no supervisor is watching.

In OPs case it was either jealousy and/or just because the bully gets an ego boost from picking on others.

That's why I propose the lifeolater. Anytime a bully of inflated ego acts sadisticaly, a bunch of bearded nordic bikers appear on their "hogs" and proceed to toss the bully throw a window frame they brought along specially made for throwing people through with relative safety.

Isn't it annoying when such kids think they can provoke adults and get away with it as well? In my area, some guy got ganged up on by 6-7 15-16 year olds because one of the kids punched the guys car and he confronted the kid(who ran to a group of kids). He didn't hit back though, even if he was a mixed martial artist. I personally would've beaten the kids silly in self-defense.

There were other kids around but only one interfered(a girl). The group was well known for their bullying. I personally believe an ass-kicking would've been appropriate. Followed by "Welcome to the real world kids!"

It's not nonsense. People who feel genuine love for themselves don't try to create hell for other people. Bullying is a sign of weakness, either a bully grew up in a harsh environment , they are cynicists or they learned it. Have you ever heard that ''if you don't love yourself first, you can't truly love others?'' It shows disrespect for yourself when you represent yourself as a bully, bullies are feared. You lose respect for yourself when you live that kind of life. If a person bullies because they think it gives them power, they are revealing that they are not strong. Bullies who do it because they think it's cool, desperately want to try to be that ''cool guy''. Bullies who bully to get a good laugh are making themselves look bad. A person who truly love themselves, are the ones who defend bullied victims, they never participate in it, A bully may feel right in themselves but the respect isn't there.

So because I have low self esteem, I don't deserve to be in a relationship? I don't love someone for what they have, but who they are.

In an environment with kids/teens, they usually don't care about assholes. They tend to not understand the perspective of others emotions. I may be generalising, though when we are younger, we aren't as good at empathising. It's basically childish...in a bad way. In adulthood, or with adults is when being an asshole is really detrimental. Much of those who previously bullied grow out of it (though ofc, it's better to discourage it in the first place).

I'm not saying that none of those with low self esteem are bullies, though it's usually those with high self esteem who are. Of course, there are those with high self esteem who are nice people too. Though I feel much of it is caused by success. Sure, you'd feel proud if you managed to be successful, right?

Respectfulness is usually something that can only be perceived by others, rather than yourself. I consider littering disrespectful, but those who litter don't think about it. They simply don't care or think someone else will take care of it, that it's okay to do. Bullies on the other hand may consider themselves "superior" enough to pick on others.

That's not true self-esteem. If someone genuinely respected themselves, what could they possibly gain from dragging someone else down?
