RIP School Survival Forums
August 2001 - June 2017

The School Survival Forums are permanently retired. If you need help with quitting school, unsupportive parents or anything else, there is a list of resources on the Help Page.

If you want to write about your experiences in school, you can write on our blog.

To everyone who joined these forums at some point, and got discouraged by the negativity and left after a while (or even got literally scared off): I'm sorry.

I wasn't good enough at encouraging people to be kinder, and removing people who refuse to be kind. Encouraging people is hard, and removing people creates conflict, and I hate conflict... so that's why I wasn't better at it.

I was a very, very sensitive teen. The atmosphere of this forum as it is now, if it had existed in 1996, would probably have upset me far more than it would have helped.

I can handle quite a lot of negativity and even abuse now, but that isn't the point. I want to help people. I want to help the people who need it the most, and I want to help people like the 1996 version of me.

I'm still figuring out the best way to do that, but as it is now, these forums are doing more harm than good, and I can't keep running them.

Thank you to the few people who have tried to understand my point of view so far. I really, really appreciate you guys. You are beautiful people.

Everyone else: If after everything I've said so far, you still don't understand my motivations, I think it's unlikely that you will. We're just too different. Maybe someday in the future it might make sense, but until then, there's no point in arguing about it. I don't have the time or the energy for arguing anymore. I will focus my time and energy on people who support me, and those who need help.

-SoulRiser

The forums are mostly read-only and are in a maintenance/testing phase, before being permanently archived. Please use this time to get the contact details of people you'd like to keep in touch with. My contact details are here.

Please do not make a mirror copy of the forums in their current state - things will still change, and some people have requested to be able to edit or delete some of their personal info.

Won't be funny when they go to there nearest liquor store and steal 100 bottles of champagne and use it to like their building on fire.
Also, boobs [NSFW] http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HAHiq-Lxs...re=related
Gave link because preview shows boobs and don't want anyone getting butt-hurt.

I don't think it would be wise for people to destroy property under the banner of #OWS. I do, however, encourage people to do these things independently. Fuck shit up! Hit em where it hurts: the pockets!

Are they out of their motherfucking minds? Are they terminally ill or some shit? Fucking crazy, man. Those fucking millionaires (billionaires?) are sitting up there sipping champaign in front of a bunch of angry, out of work, downtrodden protesters? They can't be fucking serious. I don't even agree with the protesters on a lot of issues, but I know a bunch of haughty, distant fucknuggets when I see 'em. Fuck 'em.

This entire Occupy Shit is a complete fail unless they use violence, Otherwise they are protecting the state.

Yeah they've lost media attention for the most part. Most people have dismissed it already...anyway, even if the protests DO gain steam, they're still a long way from all those protests of the 60's. And look how much good those did...they didn't effect any lasting change, I mean look at where we are now. Not to be pessimistic, but in a year this'll probably all be history and things will be even worse.

Go to work. Send your kids to school. Follow fashion. Act normal. Walk on the pavement. Watch TV. Save for your old age. Obey the law. Repeat after me: "I am free."

I wish it were possible but unfortunately most people don't want life in prison.

Actually, we should start a program where terminally ill people do super illegal but very good things. Like a radical version of the Japanese nuclear cleanup thing.

They say they are the 99%, you can't send 99% of the population to prison. Nonviolent protests are completely ineffective, violence is the only thing that will send the rich bastards a message.

The movement is more just many figures using energetic ignorant populace(trained well by modern media) into pushing what they want like tighter restrictions.
The movement is a sham that is designed to benefit some while all the while making people ignorant of the true enemy which is pretty much the FED(along with the government).
The fact that this movement even gets so much media attention shows in a way how much of a sham it is.

RE: Wall Street Mocks Protesters By Drinking Champagne 2011

Real talk, I'm going to lay it out quite flat. I don't know that I agree with all of you, but here's what I think.

The civil rights movement (and Gandhi's movement) were pretty much two of the most important and influential movements that got anything done with non-violence. And even then, you had your radical branches. (See, malcom x and radical portions of the independence movement in india...) I have tremendous respect for both movements. What they accomplished is just fucking unreal. Those movements, which had little violence involved, ended up changing nations and public opinion around the world. Fucking awesome. Having said that, however, I don't think that's going to be possible in our current situation.

Now, take a look at what has been done with violence: multiple nations have been overthrown in the last few years, countries have been built and destroyed, people have gained independence, dictators have fallen, rights have been secured, war has been thwarted and started, not to mention many great and terrible things have been achieved. While this is the less preferable method, it's probably the more realistic method. It's also, however, the most dangerous. The outcome is unclear. Factious majority leaders could (and be real, probably would) come out on top and ruin everything that the "free world" so to speak has secured. Rights wise, and financial security wise.

It's pretty clear that violence is the faster, more efficient form of taking the power back, and if we can all agree on something, it COULD work. Non-violence would undoubtedly be better, but that's not possible right now due to everyone being divided.

But before you take up your pitchforks and 12 gauges, ask yourself if that's really what you want. A civil war is NOT something I want, that's for damn sure, and I feel like a lot of you are simply expressing your discontent with your situation through political means. Things aren't great right now, but they're nowhere near as bad as they would need to be for anyone to consider a violent overthrowing of the government.

Millions would die. Fucking millions. The country would UNDOUBTEDLY be thrown into chaos. Infrastructure would stall. The financial system would collapse. That little thing called the free market that keeps your grocery stores stocked with bread, and water? Gone. The food won't be there any more. That water treatment facility pumping that nasty ass city water into your home? Gone. Think it's bad now? Just wait. Go to Iraq, and tell me if you want to be living in those types of fucking situations.

If you want to change something, then voice your opinion on the Internet, vote, start a club, express your opinion, go on marches, whatever. It probably won't change much, but at least you'll be doing something. Just know that creating REAL change is NOT something we want to be doing with violence at this juncture. Sure, in ten, maybe twenty years when the federal government has become the police, the constitution has been raped and our civil rights have been trampled on I can see taking a stand and re-inventing the government... But right now? Things are just fucking dandy. I've got a laptop. I can peruse passions. Sure, I MIGHT to get a shitty job, but oh fucking well. That's not THAT bad.
