To everyone who joined these forums at some point, and got discouraged by the negativity and left after a while (or even got literally scared off): I'm sorry.
I wasn't good enough at encouraging people to be kinder, and removing people who refuse to be kind. Encouraging people is hard, and removing people creates conflict, and I hate conflict... so that's why I wasn't better at it.
I was a very, very sensitive teen. The atmosphere of this forum as it is now, if it had existed in 1996, would probably have upset me far more than it would have helped.
I can handle quite a lot of negativity and even abuse now, but that isn't the point. I want to help people. I want to help the people who need it the most, and I want to help people like the 1996 version of me.
I'm still figuring out the best way to do that, but as it is now, these forums are doing more harm than good, and I can't keep running them.
Thank you to the few people who have tried to understand my point of view so far. I really, really appreciate you guys. You are beautiful people.
Everyone else: If after everything I've said so far, you still don't understand my motivations, I think it's unlikely that you will. We're just too different. Maybe someday in the future it might make sense, but until then, there's no point in arguing about it. I don't have the time or the energy for arguing anymore. I will focus my time and energy on people who support me, and those who need help.

I know this has been brought up before in the past but I just did some math and 3,846 of our 5,917 registered users have zero posts. That's 64%.
Seriously soul you need to delete them. It's just messy, it makes certain usernames unavailable and I'm sure it's got to slow down back ups and take up unnecessary space.

Yeah, haven't pruned 'em in a while. On the other hand, people who join and see a really low number of members compared to the amount of posts, might think it's some kind of exclusive group and it might put them off joining.

I think its odd how 64% have no posts. Maybe make a thing where if they dont post within a month their account will somehow be automatically deleted.

Yeah, sometimes people take a while to post. If I do prune user accounts, I won't prune it entirely based on number of posts, but rather based on date last logged in (as long as they also have 0 posts).
But having the accounts hanging around really doesn't take up much space and isn't really affecting anything.

No reason the lurkers cant email in and have their account removed from the auto prune list, or just make another one. If you did prune soul, you would have to go by post count, last login is weird. When I was counting up the number of inactive users I noticed that alot of the profiles said their last login was today at the same exact time. I dunno if it's the forum or what but I thought that was odd. Go to memberlist and check it out for yourself.
