RIP School Survival Forums
August 2001 - June 2017

The School Survival Forums are permanently retired. If you need help with quitting school, unsupportive parents or anything else, there is a list of resources on the Help Page.

If you want to write about your experiences in school, you can write on our blog.

To everyone who joined these forums at some point, and got discouraged by the negativity and left after a while (or even got literally scared off): I'm sorry.

I wasn't good enough at encouraging people to be kinder, and removing people who refuse to be kind. Encouraging people is hard, and removing people creates conflict, and I hate conflict... so that's why I wasn't better at it.

I was a very, very sensitive teen. The atmosphere of this forum as it is now, if it had existed in 1996, would probably have upset me far more than it would have helped.

I can handle quite a lot of negativity and even abuse now, but that isn't the point. I want to help people. I want to help the people who need it the most, and I want to help people like the 1996 version of me.

I'm still figuring out the best way to do that, but as it is now, these forums are doing more harm than good, and I can't keep running them.

Thank you to the few people who have tried to understand my point of view so far. I really, really appreciate you guys. You are beautiful people.

Everyone else: If after everything I've said so far, you still don't understand my motivations, I think it's unlikely that you will. We're just too different. Maybe someday in the future it might make sense, but until then, there's no point in arguing about it. I don't have the time or the energy for arguing anymore. I will focus my time and energy on people who support me, and those who need help.

-SoulRiser

The forums are mostly read-only and are in a maintenance/testing phase, before being permanently archived. Please use this time to get the contact details of people you'd like to keep in touch with. My contact details are here.

Please do not make a mirror copy of the forums in their current state - things will still change, and some people have requested to be able to edit or delete some of their personal info.

Should SS have its own WoW guild?

First couple of questions

1.PVE or PVP,I play both so it's a tossup.I don't think we should deal with the roleplaying since School Survival will never abide to RP server rules.PVE though is usually more popular and helpful for leveling purposes etc.

2.Horde or Alliance?Horde would more suit SS for what it does(rebel) and Alliance I guess would be less popular here. Most people reckon Horde are evil unless of course you actually find out the lore behind the Horde.
3.Setup?Who really is gonna actually be in charge or will this turn out half assed and no one will be level 80 or so.

Why?
Would bring in more members because WoW servers has millions of players, thousands on each server. It could possibly change the site and forums aswell and make others in our forum err "bond".Now before I get flames you don't have to play WoW but it would be a fun experience,I mean we all know each other here. This could be successful to what we do and make the forum bigger giving us more attention to us thus it will get publicity and help achieve our goal.Give us better chat tools such as Ventrilo. Not to mention $$ for Soulriser.

Your Vote?
I say YES towards our future.

Re: Should SS have its own WoW guild?

Now, it would rather be better to ask first - does anyone even play this piece of crap? Yeah, it's really fun chasing your whole life after the legendary 4 str 4 stam leather belt *AGHHHHHH*, level 18*weird noises*.

Problem, officer?

Lol WoW. Go play a singleplayer with an actual story instead of trying to socialise over a grindfest.

Let go of all desire for the common good, and the good becomes common as grass.

I lol'd. Laugh

Honestly, I think he's right. I personally don't have the money to play WoW, but I think it could be fun.

MMO is fun only for the first few days, even if you try to enjoy the game, it's designed so there's always someone ruining it for you(system too!).
Find me a decent MMORPG that doesn't fuck up roleplay. I dare you.

Re: Should SS have its own WoW guild?

I only played Guild Wars for a month or so. By myself, of course, and with the bots the game offers you. Then I sort of got lost in the myriad of things and boring quests so I quit.

Thats why I have steam. For only singleplayers but I would be bored out of my mind if I only played some genres.I want to know what your idea of a game with story in it is?

I'm not trying to force this on anyone but if we have people playing here we could capitilize on the idea to bring in new members.

Re: Should SS have its own WoW guild?

I'm very restrictive when it comes to what genres I like. FPSes on very rare occasions. Strategies almost never. It's all RPG and Action and Adventure for me, so I don't know if our gaming tastes are similar.

Re: Should SS have its own WoW guild?

WoW is still the best out of all MMORPGS.No other MMORPG has gotten Blizzards best selling game to get desolate.

Try Dragon Age Origins as it's a great follow up to Baulders Gate.

Meh,

I don't play anymore, do whatever the hell you like.

Re: Should SS have its own WoW guild?

I stay far away from WoW. I've seen what it does to the spare time and lives of some people I know. I have better things to do. Also, there is no way in hell I'm paying a monthly fee for something to eat my life away.

But hey, if you wanna make a guild or whatever, go for it. I don't mind. Smile

TRIGGER WARNING: THIS TRIGGER WARNING CONTAINS TRIGGER WARNINGS!

Dear Tumblrites: Despite your wrongly self-diagnosed PTSD, no line of scientific evidence suggests people can be triggered over the internet. Triggering works through the senses (i.e. smell, taste, touch, vision, hearing.) but it goes through real time; if you're not experiencing it in real life as it's ACTUALLY HAPPENING in your ACTUAL life, you CANNOT be triggered. The only exception to this is if you have a seizure, but then again, that's triggered by epilepsy (i.e. rapidly-changing flashing lights) NOT PTSD. Remembering a bad incident is NOT the same thing as having a flashback. When you remember, you think; when you flashback, you feel.
