RIP School Survival Forums
August 2001 - June 2017

The School Survival Forums are permanently retired. If you need help with quitting school, unsupportive parents or anything else, there is a list of resources on the Help Page.

If you want to write about your experiences in school, you can write on our blog.

To everyone who joined these forums at some point, and got discouraged by the negativity and left after a while (or even got literally scared off): I'm sorry.

I wasn't good enough at encouraging people to be kinder, and removing people who refuse to be kind. Encouraging people is hard, and removing people creates conflict, and I hate conflict... so that's why I wasn't better at it.

I was a very, very sensitive teen. The atmosphere of this forum as it is now, if it had existed in 1996, would probably have upset me far more than it would have helped.

I can handle quite a lot of negativity and even abuse now, but that isn't the point. I want to help people. I want to help the people who need it the most, and I want to help people like the 1996 version of me.

I'm still figuring out the best way to do that, but as it is now, these forums are doing more harm than good, and I can't keep running them.

Thank you to the few people who have tried to understand my point of view so far. I really, really appreciate you guys. You are beautiful people.

Everyone else: If after everything I've said so far, you still don't understand my motivations, I think it's unlikely that you will. We're just too different. Maybe someday in the future it might make sense, but until then, there's no point in arguing about it. I don't have the time or the energy for arguing anymore. I will focus my time and energy on people who support me, and those who need help.

-SoulRiser

The forums are mostly read-only and are in a maintenance/testing phase, before being permanently archived. Please use this time to get the contact details of people you'd like to keep in touch with. My contact details are here.

Please do not make a mirror copy of the forums in their current state - things will still change, and some people have requested to be able to edit or delete some of their personal info.

If you believe in a god, what would be your view on god?

We all have seen that people believe in different form of god with different characteristics. There are very few percentage of people that believes in a god that isn't into any mainstream religion. These typically involves gods that are mostly based on creativity, but some views of god are simply the unknown source of the universe creation. My views of god is the kind of god that doesn't appear to share any human-like characteristics at all and basically god is essentially the ruler of all of the dimensions in the universe using several unknown forces that goes beyond the most dangerous human-made force, and this god isn't seen into the majority/all of the religion and especially the religion that shows god shares a lot of characteristics with humans. The god I described is always going to be unknown and is always going to be remaining hidden.

You know who I pray to? Joe Pesci. Two reasons: First of all, I think he's a good actor, okay? To me, that counts. Second, he looks like a guy who can get things done. Joe Pesci doesn't fuck around. In fact, Joe Pesci came through on a couple of things that God was having trouble with.

For years I asked God to do something about my noisy neighbor with the barking dog, Joe Pesci straightened that cocksucker out with one visit. It's amazing what you can accomplish with a simple baseball bat....

I had to...forgive my trolling.

My personal opinion is that there is a God. Im a Catholic, but not in the sense that most people think of. It is my personal belife that he has a much more laid back approch about it than the church would like us to belive. As long as you pay the man his respects and dont go fucking with his shit then he looks out for you. I also belive that he takes alot of things in stride and has a sense of humor. I mean the dude did create midgets and the platyus.

Dear Tumblrites: Despite your wrongly self-diagnosed PTSD, no line of scientific evidence suggests people can be triggered over the internet. Triggering works through the senses (i.e. smell, taste, touch, vision, hearing.) but it goes through real time; if you're not experiencing it in real life as it's ACTUALLY HAPPENING in your ACTUAL life, you CANNOT be triggered. The only exception to this is if you have a seizure, but then again, that's triggered by epilepsy (i.e. rapidly-changing flashing lights) NOT PTSD. Remembering a bad incident is NOT the same thing as having a flashback. When you remember, you think; when you flashback, you feel.

I believe if there is a god, he's not worth worshipping, if he can leave the world go to hell like this.

My God, other than the fact that I still think of myself as a Christian, (my dad's a bible thumper, hard not to be) "God" isn't a specific person. I worship nature. It's not afraid to be an ass sometimes, it can save or destroy a city, and it's beautiful besides.

Pretty God worthy, wouldn't you say?

Why do you still think of yourself as a Christian if you freely admit that a God who doesn't help his created world doesn't deserve to be worshiped? Or do you believe that God is more of a force than an actual being, like nature itself?

Not being critical or anything, in fact I remember having that same viewpoint.

I don't personally believe in God. All religions claiming one exist seem anything but divinely inspired to me.

Also I believe if there was a God-like being, it'd be foolish to think mankind could comprehend it, let alone know that it would send us to burn forever after we die for eating shellfish or something. We would probably be insignificant to a near-omnipotent being anyway.

Worship means to service another. As an Anarchist, this is servitude, and thus oppression. I think they've got it all wrong. God doesn't WANT you to 'worship' God, God wants to be your friend. I wouldn't deny someone who wanted to be my friend who didn't do anything bad to me.

Re: If you believe in a god, what would be your view on god?

Well, I mean, part of me still believes some sort of God exists, but honestly, if I had to follow any set of beliefs, I'd probably pick Wiccan, from what I hear, they have similar beliefs to me, as far as morals go. They also believe that if you're meant to be Wiccan, you'll become one, and that pushing people into it isn't the way to go. Though, I honestly don't believe in their "Lord and Lady", at least, that's what I think they call their god. But that's the thing about Wicca, you don't necessarily have to even believe all that to keep that sort of faith.

I confuse myself sometimes. Its like, I want to be Christian, but to be so, would go against everything I believe in as far as feminism and youth rights go.

I do know the Bible is wrong.

Oh, and my definition of worship is having a deep respect for. At least, that's what I meant when I said it.

Actually, the bible says to watch out for corrupt churches. (Which apparently most priests skip right on over during their sermons.)

Having a bible thumper for a dad means that you KNOW the bible.

CrayolaColours Wrote:Actually, the bible says to watch out for corrupt churches. (Which apparently most priests skip right on over during their sermons.)

Having a bible thumper for a dad means that you KNOW the bible.

I honestly would rather read the bible as it was first written with no translations.

This gained him some respect points, but what language is it in?

Re: If you believe in a god, what would be your view on god?

He's not doing it himself, someone else has a podcast where he reads the Greek version and directly translates it to English. Apparently he has a good grasp of how the language works, so there really wont be many fuck ups.

If only he weren't a homophobic Nazi, all would be well.

Not first, but close enough. I actually forget what language it was, but it was one of the first.

The first language was Aramaic.

(The Greeks were not around when Christianity was coming around.)

Hebrew was the first language.

I thought that was wrong. Latin I think I meant? I'm sorta confusing myself here, I'll go sit down in that corner now.

Yeah, don't worry about it.

(Latin STILL fucked up the translation)

Re: If you believe in a god, what would be your view on god?

ok so it was written in Hebrew translated to Aramaic Translated to Greek (I know it was) Then Translated to Latin and then English.

Or was the english version translated directly from Greek to English and Latin?

I dunno, The King Lear version was probably certainly from Latin.

I dunno about the Webster version.

Re: If you believe in a god, what would be your view on god?

It's why my dad stays away from the church.

Like I said, I have no clue what language he's reading from right now. It might actually be Hebrew, but I'm thinking Latin.

In any case, it's better than the King James version.
