To everyone who joined these forums at some point, and got discouraged by the negativity and left after a while (or even got literally scared off): I'm sorry.

I wasn't good enough at encouraging people to be kinder, and removing people who refuse to be kind. Encouraging people is hard, and removing people creates conflict, and I hate conflict... so that's why I wasn't better at it.

I was a very, very sensitive teen. The atmosphere of this forum as it is now, if it had existed in 1996, would probably have upset me far more than it would have helped.

I can handle quite a lot of negativity and even abuse now, but that isn't the point. I want to help people. I want to help the people who need it the most, and I want to help people like the 1996 version of me.

I'm still figuring out the best way to do that, but as it is now, these forums are doing more harm than good, and I can't keep running them.

Thank you to the few people who have tried to understand my point of view so far. I really, really appreciate you guys. You are beautiful people.

Everyone else: If after everything I've said so far, you still don't understand my motivations, I think it's unlikely that you will. We're just too different. Maybe someday in the future it might make sense, but until then, there's no point in arguing about it. I don't have the time or the energy for arguing anymore. I will focus my time and energy on people who support me, and those who need help.

Back when this computer was still in the shop, I used my sister's oldish laptop, that runs on 32bit Vista. I downloaded a torrent of Opposing Force/Blue Shift, that worked nicely on it. Once I got this one back, I downloaded the exact same torrent, but it didn't work, as it gives me an error message that says "Available memory is less than 15MB!".

I tried installing it to both Program Files and Program Files (x86), and attempted to run it in compatibility mode in both PF directories.

Any tips on how to make it work?

The problem with me not having any available hard drive space is long gone. The "you have less than 15MB of memory!" thing is bullshit, as I have over 250 spare gigs on my hard drive, and eight gigs of RAM.

This has nothing to do with hard drive space. Are you using all of your 8 gigabytes of memory? If not, how much is free?

I'm not sure how to check how much RAM memory I have left.

And apparently I have six instead of eight. I thought it was eight, but it doesn't matter much.

Six gigs of ram is a fucking lot, my laptop has 2. That should be fine seeing as how every time you reboot your RAM is cleared.

Also, what OS are you running? Vista, XP, 7?

64bit Vista, though on 32bit Vista it worked fine.

Also, I just tried installing it as soon as the computer started up, twice, to both Program Files and (x86) directories, and it still doesn't work.

Restarting doesn't completely clear your RAM, by the way. You should completely shut down and start back up again instead.

I clicked "shut down", let it shut down, waited a couple minutes, and started it back up. I didn't just hit "restart".

Alright, perhaps there isn't enough space allocated to windows. Try expanding the windows partition.
