RIP School Survival Forums
August 2001 - June 2017
The School Survival Forums are permanently retired. If you need help with quitting school, unsupportive parents or anything else, there is a list of resources on the Help Page.
If you want to write about your experiences in school, you can write on our blog.
To everyone who joined these forums at some point, and got discouraged by the negativity and left after a while (or even got literally scared off): I'm sorry.
I wasn't good enough at encouraging people to be kinder, and removing people who refuse to be kind. Encouraging people is hard, and removing people creates conflict, and I hate conflict... so that's why I wasn't better at it.
I was a very, very sensitive teen. The atmosphere of this forum as it is now, if it had existed in 1996, would probably have upset me far more than it would have helped.
I can handle quite a lot of negativity and even abuse now, but that isn't the point. I want to help people. I want to help the people who need it the most, and I want to help people like the 1996 version of me.
I'm still figuring out the best way to do that, but as it is now, these forums are doing more harm than good, and I can't keep running them.
Thank you to the few people who have tried to understand my point of view so far. I really, really appreciate you guys. You are beautiful people.
Everyone else: If after everything I've said so far, you still don't understand my motivations, I think it's unlikely that you will. We're just too different. Maybe someday in the future it might make sense, but until then, there's no point in arguing about it. I don't have the time or the energy for arguing anymore. I will focus my time and energy on people who support me, and those who need help.

I understand, I don't believe in sin and dislike the Abrahamic religions for the damage they cause, including the mistreatment of a child from it's parents.

Yes... I DID talk calmly every time... ONLY to my mother, but she is just too passive about problems my father causes.
Hell, I did not talk to my father about it EVER, because I KNOW he will make my life even MORE hellish when I have this thing called FUN AND SELF-ESTEEM
And everyone in my family is so extremely fond of their religion, if I were to openly state that I do not want anything to do with this stupid religion, I know they will be mad at me and consider me demonish and "sinful" or something...
I do not mind them practicing their religion, but why the fuck force me into it?

Ok... I have calmed down a bit.
I was really overreacting here, and some of the points I made here were too extreme.
I still hate having to practice for a religion I do not intend to be involved with anymore, but this was way too extreme...
For a good and colorful writer as I am... I should stop taking the stick up my ass so much...

Even if it's not "that bad" that you have to go through this compared to other things that could happen, it does suck.
Even if people would think "oh, suck it up" because your parents put a "roof above your head", this religion-forcing shit sucks and it's a waste of your time.
I don't know what you can do about it other than bear it until you're old enough to move out. Maybe cause some mischief in the church such that your parents won't think it's worth it to bring you there anymore? You should probably consider the negative consequences of such a thing and how long they'd last, though.

I'm religious(and I believe we're both of the same religious beliefs) but I've never been a fan of how ignorant folk think it's best to force religion upon people.
I've felt myself pushed away many times simply because of being forced to do things against my will(under the pretense of my parents "doing what's best for me").

Please remember that if all our parents were completely rational people, many of us probably wouldn't be on this site in the first place.
People are stubborn. They don't want to give up beliefs they've held as true and important all their life, least of all because a minor (perceived as too immature to know what's "good for them") suggests to the contrary.
