RIP School Survival Forums
August 2001 - June 2017

The School Survival Forums are permanently retired. If you need help with quitting school, unsupportive parents or anything else, there is a list of resources on the Help Page.

If you want to write about your experiences in school, you can write on our blog.

To everyone who joined these forums at some point, and got discouraged by the negativity and left after a while (or even got literally scared off): I'm sorry.

I wasn't good enough at encouraging people to be kinder, and removing people who refuse to be kind. Encouraging people is hard, and removing people creates conflict, and I hate conflict... so that's why I wasn't better at it.

I was a very, very sensitive teen. The atmosphere of this forum as it is now, if it had existed in 1996, would probably have upset me far more than it would have helped.

I can handle quite a lot of negativity and even abuse now, but that isn't the point. I want to help people. I want to help the people who need it the most, and I want to help people like the 1996 version of me.

I'm still figuring out the best way to do that, but as it is now, these forums are doing more harm than good, and I can't keep running them.

Thank you to the few people who have tried to understand my point of view so far. I really, really appreciate you guys. You are beautiful people.

Everyone else: If after everything I've said so far, you still don't understand my motivations, I think it's unlikely that you will. We're just too different. Maybe someday in the future it might make sense, but until then, there's no point in arguing about it. I don't have the time or the energy for arguing anymore. I will focus my time and energy on people who support me, and those who need help.

-SoulRiser

Great. My parents took away my computer.

My parents took away my computer, because they want to ensure that I finish my overdue literature project. I don't know what else to ay right now, except that my mom is really mad at me, and my parents are arguing over something in their room.

Hopefully, they won't take my phone away.

Ah, the quite infamous trick of taking away your things as punishment for bad grades.

Yes! Because nothing motivates me to better my grades more than taking away from me the only things that make life bearable! -_-

That's a poor way to get your child to do your bidding. ''Do as I say or I'll take it all away.''. Kinda immorally selfish as it breeds the horrible term ''authoritarianism''. Hug /Gewdin you took the words right out of my mouth Smile

My parents took away my xbox 360 until i get all A's :(

I am 14, and have my own computer repair business! And I'm a small time DJ also. No joke.

If you need tech support, PM me. Everything's free of charge. I use Teamviewer in case it's needed.

Great. My parents took away my computer.

@xcriteria , this project is about The Crucible. I hate that play. I guess it's just too negative for me to like it, plus we got to watch the movie also, and it had the most bitter ending I have ever scene in a movie. I'll take a look at that thread later.

I don't have much more time. My mom is at work and my dad and sister are at my grandma's house. My dad had threatened to take my phone away, since he saw me using it, when I was suppost to work on my project. He put my phone on the other side of the table to keep me from using my phone. If my dad sees me on my phone again, he'll probably take that away from me to.

Thanks for the response guys. Wish me luck and hope and pray for the best.

I preferred Death of a Salesman.

Anyway, that sucks; I know what it's like to get the computer taken away.

Great. My parents took away my computer.

My mom just told me that if I didn't turn in everything that I was suppost to, then I'd "be in a lot of trouble". She also said that I'd "better study for that Spanish test" when I get home from school tomorrow. She also said this very angrily.

I'm also pretty sure that my phone is going to be taken away from me soon. My mom just caught me using it when I was suppost to be doing my homework. She just nervously laughed and said that I should do my homework.

Right now, I feel like I can't please her, no matter what I do. I just hope my parents don't find out that I'm on these forums, or I'm really screwed, especially at this point.

That sucks dude. My parents are to involved in their own lives (screwing it up by the way) to notice all the gay porn I search for. Oh, and world domination schemes. Fu
