To everyone who joined these forums at some point, and got discouraged by the negativity and left after a while (or even got literally scared off): I'm sorry.

I wasn't good enough at encouraging people to be kinder, and removing people who refuse to be kind. Encouraging people is hard, and removing people creates conflict, and I hate conflict... so that's why I wasn't better at it.

I was a very, very sensitive teen. The atmosphere of this forum as it is now, if it had existed in 1996, would probably have upset me far more than it would have helped.

I can handle quite a lot of negativity and even abuse now, but that isn't the point. I want to help people. I want to help the people who need it the most, and I want to help people like the 1996 version of me.

I'm still figuring out the best way to do that, but as it is now, these forums are doing more harm than good, and I can't keep running them.

Thank you to the few people who have tried to understand my point of view so far. I really, really appreciate you guys. You are beautiful people.

Everyone else: If after everything I've said so far, you still don't understand my motivations, I think it's unlikely that you will. We're just too different. Maybe someday in the future it might make sense, but until then, there's no point in arguing about it. I don't have the time or the energy for arguing anymore. I will focus my time and energy on people who support me, and those who need help.

YES! I have civ 4 gold. But how would we do such a thing? I know how to join an online room but not how to start/ organize one.

Also we need to have like 6 hours to make a turn so we can play longtime.

Hosting is pretty simple, all you need to do is Port Forward then tell people your IP Adress if you are hosting. The time problem is of course a good point, because Afternoon for some is midnight for others.

We could use Pitboss, which basically lets you take your turn whenever you want sort of although I am not entirely sure how it works.

I don't think that's a problem, people here are masters of being freeloading communists and arrquiring things, the only problem is inexperience. We've played the game waaay longer than everyone else so we'll probably end up raping everyone.

If you get Civ 4 Beyond the Sword then get patch 3.19 you can play with us because 3.19 removed all DRM.

i own civ 4, but for some reason it wont install. I cant get past the startup screen, it pisses me off. every time i click install my computer fan will spin and then nothing happens. and yes, i have sat there hours waiting.

I believe that civ 4 gold edition Is compatible with all civ 4 games and upgraded additions correct?

Unit stacking and unfair sudden huge attacks FTW! Also on single player I find it hard to resist going into world builder and just dropping a few tanks in for my side in the classical era.

And we should make it one city challenge if you can set custom game stuff when you make an online multiplayer. It would simplify turns.

I suck at this game. I got my as kicked by some place called herpes or hepatitis or some country that sounds like an STD. They kept taking my fucking land and I couldn't figure out how the fuck to get it back so I just declared war. I should have waited for the manhattan project for that. Then I could have just nuked their asses.

ah, that level is balanced as in neither you nor the ai get an advantage. Try playing on Settler for your first game. Also the taking the land part sounds like the Apostilic Palace to me for some reason did you try Defying the resolution?
