RIP School Survival Forums
August 2001 - June 2017
The School Survival Forums are permanently retired. If you need help with quitting school, unsupportive parents or anything else, there is a list of resources on the Help Page.
If you want to write about your experiences in school, you can write on our blog.
To everyone who joined these forums at some point, and got discouraged by the negativity and left after a while (or even got literally scared off): I'm sorry.
I wasn't good enough at encouraging people to be kinder, and removing people who refuse to be kind. Encouraging people is hard, and removing people creates conflict, and I hate conflict... so that's why I wasn't better at it.
I was a very, very sensitive teen. The atmosphere of this forum as it is now, if it had existed in 1996, would probably have upset me far more than it would have helped.
I can handle quite a lot of negativity and even abuse now, but that isn't the point. I want to help people. I want to help the people who need it the most, and I want to help people like the 1996 version of me.
I'm still figuring out the best way to do that, but as it is now, these forums are doing more harm than good, and I can't keep running them.
Thank you to the few people who have tried to understand my point of view so far. I really, really appreciate you guys. You are beautiful people.
Everyone else: If after everything I've said so far, you still don't understand my motivations, I think it's unlikely that you will. We're just too different. Maybe someday in the future it might make sense, but until then, there's no point in arguing about it. I don't have the time or the energy for arguing anymore. I will focus my time and energy on people who support me, and those who need help.

Junior year is a bitch
I don't mind the teachers, the uniform, my entirely out-of-the-way locker placement, the insane distance from classroom to classroom, or how incredibly large all of my books are. But what I do mind is the fucking work load, the very first week of school I got more homework in one day than i got in a week during sophomore year, and I do not know why. The stress is another thing, i have 6 tests tomorrow. 6. Out of 7 subjects, of course i'm not studying for any of them, that's ridiculous.
The teachers are quite nice, but i don't understand the mindset of asking the homework god to shit all over us, junior year isn't hard or challenging. All it is is a bunch of work, meaningless assignments, and my english teacher just loves giving us 3 assignments to do in one night and a test along with that. I might have to remind her that there are 6 other subjects that also shovel it on to us like that, and homework doesn't even help us.
Oh and last but definitely not least, there is supposedly this english research paper that will take us 5 months to complete, along with other projects in other subjects.
Fuck junior year, fuck it with the biggest flaming dildo you can find, because i'm sick of it already.
and in other news the secretary of edumacation is making himself look like a retard with his brainwashing, douchey speeches, fuck him too.

I'm in the same boat as you are. So much homework and it's all so pointless!

This.
Junior year sucks dick already. I was told to read a few chapters in this american history book. I got through one out of five sections of the first chapter, looked at the time, and wen't to sleep. Fuck that shit. The shit's not even accurate. It sucks even worse because if you want to go to a decent College, you have to pull some decent grades out of your ass, and study for the SAT's.

Re: Junior year is a bitch
Junior year is sucking for me too. Lots of work and I have 3 projects due in two weeks. It would be ok if I had a few goof off classes this year but my schedule has all important classes cause Im trying to graduate this year.

Re: Junior year is a bitch
I'm a sophomore, but I'm in mostly junior classes. My workload is batshit fucking insane already too... I don't even want to imagine what it'll be next year.

Re: Junior year is a bitch
meh. i used to be an IB student where you pretty much wrote 2 essays a week, and had about 3 hours of homework everyday on top of that. so i guess this senior year thing is like, the easiest thing ever...
the college workload is more what im concerned about at this point, but at least i get to choose fun subjects and such.

Probably unnecessary, beyond maybe trying a few practice questions to get used to the format and the types of things they might ask. There aren't a lot of specific things you need to know, so you can basically just figure it out as you go along (except for vocabulary, which would probably take so long to study that's it's not really worth it.) I was only aiming for a 1500, though, so your mileage may vary,

Lies. LIES! I have one free period, but it's in the morning, so I still have to drop off my brother. Plus, the uniform began to suck for my class, we get the most crap, biology class is a bitch, and college applications are torture when you don't know what you're doing and you're parents are immigrants who can't help you and your counselor is a freakin' retard who doesn't even give a shit or know anything. And the principal's an even bigger jackass this year.
Hang in there, OP. Junior year sucks, but try to enjoy being with friends. Homework is pointless; just do it quickly so you can get to the fun stuff.
