RIP School Survival Forums
August 2001 - June 2017
The School Survival Forums are permanently retired. If you need help with quitting school, unsupportive parents or anything else, there is a list of resources on the Help Page.
If you want to write about your experiences in school, you can write on our blog.
To everyone who joined these forums at some point, and got discouraged by the negativity and left after a while (or even got literally scared off): I'm sorry.
I wasn't good enough at encouraging people to be kinder, and removing people who refuse to be kind. Encouraging people is hard, and removing people creates conflict, and I hate conflict... so that's why I wasn't better at it.
I was a very, very sensitive teen. The atmosphere of this forum as it is now, if it had existed in 1996, would probably have upset me far more than it would have helped.
I can handle quite a lot of negativity and even abuse now, but that isn't the point. I want to help people. I want to help the people who need it the most, and I want to help people like the 1996 version of me.
I'm still figuring out the best way to do that, but as it is now, these forums are doing more harm than good, and I can't keep running them.
Thank you to the few people who have tried to understand my point of view so far. I really, really appreciate you guys. You are beautiful people.
Everyone else: If after everything I've said so far, you still don't understand my motivations, I think it's unlikely that you will. We're just too different. Maybe someday in the future it might make sense, but until then, there's no point in arguing about it. I don't have the time or the energy for arguing anymore. I will focus my time and energy on people who support me, and those who need help.

The forums are mostly read-only and are in a maintenance/testing phase, before being permanently archived. Please use this time to get the contact details of people you'd like to keep in touch with. My contact details are here.
Please do not make a mirror copy of the forums in their current state - things will still change, and some people have requested to be able to edit or delete some of their personal info.
RE: How would I go about turning my school into a dictatorship ran by me???
While you are planning to take over the world, I made a alliance with the combine overwatch, the covanant, and the glatatic empire. Once I done conquering the adromma galaxy, guess who's next milky way residents? And your planets covered with guns can't stop me ether.
How would I go about turning my school into a dictatorship ran by me???
I've always had an obsession over running a gigantic empire. I don't know, that kind of stuff has always managed to appeal to me. Anyone here play Supreme Ruler 2020 or the Geo-Political Simulator games?
RE: How would I go about turning my school into a dictatorship ran by me???
Im always had the obsession of smelling napalm in the morning, then standing on a balconey during the afternoon as my subjects below applause, cheer and bow before me while Im dressed in an awesome robe wearing, then watching my army march into formation during the evening, the enjoy the sound of gun fire and the flickering lights of explosions and rockets at nightt as my enemy is pounded into submission.
How would I go about turning my school into a dictatorship ran by me???
I've always wanted to stand outside on the porch of my palace, with an allied foreign leader standing right next to me to celebrate my military victories. The entire army of the nation is in front of the National Square, and they chant "URA!!!!!!" and then some awesome military music plays. If I had to play a song, it would be this one:

I think you already failed at doing this. Instead of organizing and planning everything, you've already looked to others for help. Clearly not characteristics shown by Hitler who rose to power by his own abilities and without help.

Congrats for doing something I never had the balls to do.
If you have kids, save them from the bullshit you are forced to go through.

Sorry, cant hear you. The mechanical clanking of 1 billion battle droids is pretty loud. Dont even botheryelling when they open fire.
And for comic relief(at least comical for me. Not so funny when you're the one dying) I made them sound like those silly droids from Star Wars. Unfortunately for you, they arent as stupid as they sound.
(This article gets at a lot of what I was getting at with the Dystopia is Hard reference, in one of my posts above.)
"Ultimately, the film portrays North Korea as a country approaching the brink of something monumental -- a military dictatorship trying brutally, but not altogether effectively, to contend with the threats posed by new technology, the inevitable flow of information, and an increasingly discontent populace."
Secret State of North Korea airs on PBS on Tuesday, Jan. 14. (Check your local listings or watch it online.)
Anyone want to switch from role-playing into geopolitical analysis? What kind of parallels can you see between the challenges of running a dictatorship in the 21st century, and the challenges of keeping factory-model schools as-is?
And, what alternatives to dictatorship might allow would-be rulers to get their needs met, without meddling with the lives of whole populations?
How would I go about turning my school into a dictatorship ran by me???
The way North Korea runs its social class reminds me a lot of "natural selection" and Social Darwinism. Basically, the "intellectuals" (elite) all get to live in the nice areas (Pyongyang, etc) while the rest of the country has to live in really tough rural areas, with no electricity or other essentials.
Also, the mandatory weekly community meeting scene was really freaky. It's compulsory attendance, and not attending arouses suspicion.

Not to mention, all the people in the labor camps, including for the "crimes" of their parents and grandparents.
Liberty in North Korea (LiNK) has a bunch of videos on this topic. Here's one about how they started:

All this sounds familiar, doesn't it?
Yeah, it does. The troubled teen industry is one extreme form, but of course the basic factory model has parallels as well.
I think "artificial selection" is a better term for these things than "natural selection," though. People are making decisions (and/or blindly following directions), not nature itself.
