To everyone who joined these forums at some point, and got discouraged by the negativity and left after a while (or even got literally scared off): I'm sorry.
I wasn't good enough at encouraging people to be kinder, and removing people who refuse to be kind. Encouraging people is hard, and removing people creates conflict, and I hate conflict... so that's why I wasn't better at it.
I was a very, very sensitive teen. The atmosphere of this forum as it is now, if it had existed in 1996, would probably have upset me far more than it would have helped.
I can handle quite a lot of negativity and even abuse now, but that isn't the point. I want to help people. I want to help the people who need it the most, and I want to help people like the 1996 version of me.
I'm still figuring out the best way to do that, but as it is now, these forums are doing more harm than good, and I can't keep running them.
Thank you to the few people who have tried to understand my point of view so far. I really, really appreciate you guys. You are beautiful people.
Everyone else: If after everything I've said so far, you still don't understand my motivations, I think it's unlikely that you will. We're just too different. Maybe someday in the future it might make sense, but until then, there's no point in arguing about it. I don't have the time or the energy for arguing anymore. I will focus my time and energy on people who support me, and those who need help.

My Mom might go to Prison.
Hey, New here.
So, my mom was arrested this morning for "Battery on a minor."
The minor is me, but I'm 19 and she has never abused me.
She told me she's going to jail because i stopped going to middle school back in...2006 i think?
Tried homeschool by my mom's suggestion back then. i didn't like it either.
I HATE any kind of school. there's no reason, i just hate them all.
Anyways, if my mom doesn't pay $30,000, she goes to prison.
All because of my choice.
This "free country" is a goddamn joke.

My mom is a bit peeved that she might go to prison for my ass... can't blame her.
We're going to court--dunno when-- to hopefully convince the judge to not throw my mom in prison.

Just a bit, eh? Were it my mother I'd have a knife in my throat. Of course that'd be me stabbing myself to escape experiencing her terrible wrath.
On a serious note, hopefully the judge takes pity. The legal system took pity on my mother once and dropped all charges involved (well it wasn't really a legal system, it was a bank but the same concept applies).

That's crazy. Whomever charged her with that should turn in their badge; due to the falsity of the claim I'd imagine that would be highly illegal.

I wonder if "Battery on a minor" is the same as, "Child battery" the different wording makes me say no, but if it is the same thing then from what I've gotten the "Child battery" charge could possibly cover school.

Which idiots seriously come up with these absurd and incomprehensible words. Must lawmakers make such serious mumbojumbo terms to sound smart when we all know they couldnt tell the difference between a jackass and the image they see when they look in a mirror?

I dont see how not going to school is battery, and I do t see any logical reason to bring up an old issue to court. As if there isnt enough scumbags to take care, they decide to clog the court with needless cases that have no real legal basis(as they dont seem to pertain to public safety or civil order at all)

What state or country do you live in?
There are many ways to do homeschooling including unschooling. US states vary in what notification and documentation they require, but it's a legal option.
Has your mom retained a laywer? How did all of this legal action begin?
Well... My Cousin woke me up to tell me that my mom was in jail, we had no idea why at the time.
She got bailed out by my grandma, came back home, told me that she has to go to court because not going to school is against the law.
I live in California.
Ah.
I mostly forgotten about it...
