Classrooms, and the people in them

Jesus Christ I feel I must share this experience.

6th Period on my schedule (my school's periods were 2-7, period 1 was for people who came for a mandatory additional class for them) was my most loathed period of them all. All I'll say is that almost all the kids were bad in that class (well, not almost, but a good amount, 70-80%).

Of those 70-80%, they were quite bad. They often like to fool around, talk loudly, were generally not doing their work, and sometimes were quite mean. Once, I had to do a damn poster presentation, we had to share a table with another group (ugh, it was pretty small considering the size), and one smartass kid from the other group decided to drop his poster (the hard, cardboard ones) on the table, which made my research papers fly around, dropping to the ground. I swear to god I was close to punching him. It was one of those classes in which all the wrong people were together. It was quite well known around the school that the particular class I was in was really, really bad.

In one particular day, I remember some teachers going into that class, and checking out the class. While everyone was fooling around, I was trying to do my work (or pretending to). I hate school enough, I don't want to be associated with a bad crowd by the teachers!

I always hated that class, and I'm glad that's probably the last I'll see of it. It was pretty much impossible to get any sort of work done. Not only was the noise level bad, but it really smelled in there as well. The floors were pretty dirty, and the windows were never open. At the end of the year, I just stopped doing work in that class. It didn't matter, I was guaranteed to pass it, so whatever. If I ever have to have the same teacher in the same room, I WILL change. Forget about it, I had 3 years of one strict teacher in Middle School, but I will NOT go through the terrors of what happened in that classroom.

I know this more or less goes in the Vent section, but it really should be noted that some classrooms are really not so great....

I usually never had a problem with classmates bothering me. I was pretty well-respected in school, by basically everyone. There was one kid in a grade above ours, while I was in 10th grade, and he'd always "mess" with some of our male classmates, but never bothered me.(He wasn't mean, but it did get annoying at sometimes with his physical horse-play).

Plus there were some rare times I resorted to physical actions, which made people cautious around me. I once accidentally flipped a friend of mine while we were playing around(I tugged at his arm while we wrestled lightly, and sort of flipped him across my back and straight onto the floor), or how I dumped my lunch onto the head of another friend who kept bothering me(my sides are somewhat sensitive, and I'll involuntarily "leap" when I get poked and he thought it was funny till he had bits of rice all in his hair).

I just seem to naturally garner people's respect. I can't think of anyone who would actually hate me, or even dislike me(at least publicly). I guess I've gotten Machiavelli's tactics down, though I'd say more like "loved AND feared" while not hated.

Though last year I was not particularly hated, it was, like I said, one of those classes where all the bad kids were mixed up. These kids really didn't have much respect, and here comes part of the "hierarchy" theory, if you're perceived as different by a classroom who generally are alike, don't expect much. Think of it like a certain party, if someone is acting somewhat differently, they're probably not going to be well received. Not that the norms they were following were particularly good, they were pretty fucked up. I didn't need to be in that crap.

Really, my sophomore year sucked. Not middle school sucked, but in a "not really what I expected" kind of suck. I had some good moments, and some very good friends and classes, but that particular class was the epitome of why it sucked. I didn't get depressed because, call me arrogant, I knew I was smarter and in general a better person than them. I didn't let them get to my head. I'd been through it before.

I was called arrogant a few times. It's too bad I beat them to punch by already being sure to be self-proclaimed as arrogant. Tell me something I don't know huh?

Do students have availability to change classrooms if they wanted to? My school they did.

My school definitely did. I'll be honest, I was kinda lazy at the beginning of the year to change it, but when it got really really bad, there was no going back.

It can be a little clarifying being in a class like that; if your heads in the right place, you'll be able to identify yourself and your goals apart from those who don't care
