RIP School Survival Forums
August 2001 - June 2017

The School Survival Forums are permanently retired. If you need help with quitting school, unsupportive parents or anything else, there is a list of resources on the Help Page.

If you want to write about your experiences in school, you can write on our blog.

To everyone who joined these forums at some point, and got discouraged by the negativity and left after a while (or even got literally scared off): I'm sorry.

I wasn't good enough at encouraging people to be kinder, and removing people who refuse to be kind. Encouraging people is hard, and removing people creates conflict, and I hate conflict... so that's why I wasn't better at it.

I was a very, very sensitive teen. The atmosphere of this forum as it is now, if it had existed in 1996, would probably have upset me far more than it would have helped.

I can handle quite a lot of negativity and even abuse now, but that isn't the point. I want to help people. I want to help the people who need it the most, and I want to help people like the 1996 version of me.

I'm still figuring out the best way to do that, but as it is now, these forums are doing more harm than good, and I can't keep running them.

Thank you to the few people who have tried to understand my point of view so far. I really, really appreciate you guys. You are beautiful people.

Everyone else: If after everything I've said so far, you still don't understand my motivations, I think it's unlikely that you will. We're just too different. Maybe someday in the future it might make sense, but until then, there's no point in arguing about it. I don't have the time or the energy for arguing anymore. I will focus my time and energy on people who support me, and those who need help.

-SoulRiser

RE: Anyone with bipolar?

Ah, well, I was diagnosed as bipolar when I was thirteen and prescribed a drug to treat it which I subsequently refused to take. My mood shifts rapidly between extremely motivated, positive, and caring to angry, lazy and apathetic to feelings of others. Sometimes there is a minor (or not so minor) trigger, and other times there seemingly isn't one at all. Maintaining personal relationships is sometimes difficult for me. With people I'm friends with I'm excellent at hiding it, but when I get really close to people the crazies tend to come out more often and they get driven away. I'm not a very social person in the first place so this just amplifies a pre-existing problem. How do I survive? I just let the blow-ups and freak-outs happen and then deal with it when I'm in a better state of mind. Ideally I'll one day get to a point where this isn't necessary but it's gotten me by in the mean time.

Who am I? Who are YOU?

Anyone with bipolar?

Ah, so you don't take medication and you just live with it..
Okay, I'll try to deal with it same way, but... Idk, screw it.
I'm better already today than at time of posting.

Can really minor things trigger your moodswing? Like very minor and don't even matter that much?

It triggered it for me yesterday(but I think this is normal very crazy moodswings at teenage years, but I fear it's not...), at first it made me really angry like I had angry disorder(I think I might have) but my anger is manageable, I can keep myself from literally destroy stuff but it is very hard and tempting(I can still realize that there are consequences), kinda like... Idk... having sex without orgasming is closest I can tell.

I also when I get this angry I feel like causing pain, and no, stomping on bugs doesn't help, they don't scream nor most likely feel pain nor is there any blood, so that sucks.. I actually thought I have angry disorder but I can more or less control myself, then googled about bipolar disorder and it all just makes sense why I'm always acting like I am, I just thought that it's normal, but it appears it's not really as normal...

Thanks for your input.Hug

RE: Anyone with bipolar?

Traditional medicine usually prescribes massive amounts of chemicals. This can be helpful for a few people. However, it may be that some people have a simple diet deficiency. For example, in regions that have a deficiency of lithium in the soil, there are higher rates of incarceration and mental illness. A food supplement like lithium orate can help reduce symptoms for some people.

When you consider that most of our food comes from fields whose trace minerals have been depleted decades ago, it is surprising that more of us don't show more problems related to diet deficiencies.

Anyone with bipolar?

I'm not quite sure if it's Bipolar, but I know it's some kind of mood disorder.

I often get depressed, lonely, confused, guilty, scared, irritable and doubtful. Always feel that all my problems and everything is my fault. Hatred towards myself, basically. But I can usually manage to keep it in the back of my head, focus on others things and be in denial, unless triggered.

Sometimes I get really angry, which never turns out well.

Sometimes I feel happy. I love this most.

Sometimes I just feel plain emotionless.

Nobody knows how depressed I get (And I hope it stays that way), but everybody knows I have a mood disorder. It's actually kind of funny how mentally strong they think I am, I guess they don't bother finding out more information about the disorder.

Anyone with bipolar?

im wondering if u guys have seen my website... i write a lot about this stuff.

here is the link to teen suicide, self harm, depression etc.

http://www.eqi.org/ts

briefly id say u dont have a mood disorder or a diet problem. u have a family and school and culture proglem. ie environment disorder.

in another environment, ie with other pple around u, who u feel safe with, accepted by , understood by, and free around, + cared about and not controlled - ud feel very differently about urself and life.

--
remember that to most people u are a resource - a raw material to be processed for use in the society. others will try to use u. including me ha ha

ii include myself cuz i need help.

but it has to really be mutually beneficial, and totally voluntary, for it to work

id ask u to think about how others are using u to try to fill some need of theirs... and write me a pm

id realy like to hear from u

not many pple get what i am saying and writing about. so it woiuld help if someone else did.

Anyone with bipolar?

What should I do when I suspect I might have BPD, I've always acted like this, crazy moodswings, anger bursts and other shit, some of it happens rarely, for example I can feel really great while ruining someone else's mood, unintentionally at first, but then it becomes like a game like when you turn your back to a predator and sometimes when I feel like shit and I argue, I can't stop arguing, and I throw rocks at my mother even more and end up hurting everyone... Fuck that shit.

Idk how to label that shit, but I know it's there and it's overwhelming, idk what to do, fuck the doctors and psychologists, won't go to one... Being high all day isn't an option either, coz I run out of cash and it makes me feel like I am the scum of the world even tho it makes me 100% happy... :/

Anyone with bipolar?

I had a very short temper when I was younger. I would get so angry, I would probably hurt someone if I had an outburst now. It stopped when I discovered why. I would just keep my emotions inside, building and building, and let them out in one fowl swoop. Now, I just make sure I'm able to talk about it, or let it go.

Just find out why you're acting so "Crazy", and adjust your life accordingly.

RE: Anyone with bipolar?

Turns out Bipolar is not "mood swings every minute" so I ruled that out. I'm going to see someone to clear it up for good.

Quote:How is bipolar disorder treated?

To date, there is no cure for bipolar disorder. But proper treatment helps most people with bipolar disorder gain better control of their mood swings and related symptoms. This is also true for people with the most severe forms of the illness.

Because bipolar disorder is a lifelong and recurrent illness, people with the disorder need long-term treatment to maintain control of bipolar symptoms. An effective maintenance treatment plan includes medication and psychotherapy for preventing relapse and reducing symptom severity.

I wish to know what's that, too. Actually I can't even pinpoint the problem that I have, maybe it's nothing more but an episodic depression, haha...
