RIP School Survival Forums
August 2001 - June 2017

The School Survival Forums are permanently retired. If you need help with quitting school, unsupportive parents or anything else, there is a list of resources on the Help Page.

If you want to write about your experiences in school, you can write on our blog.

To everyone who joined these forums at some point, and got discouraged by the negativity and left after a while (or even got literally scared off): I'm sorry.

I wasn't good enough at encouraging people to be kinder, and removing people who refuse to be kind. Encouraging people is hard, and removing people creates conflict, and I hate conflict... so that's why I wasn't better at it.

I was a very, very sensitive teen. The atmosphere of this forum as it is now, if it had existed in 1996, would probably have upset me far more than it would have helped.

I can handle quite a lot of negativity and even abuse now, but that isn't the point. I want to help people. I want to help the people who need it the most, and I want to help people like the 1996 version of me.

I'm still figuring out the best way to do that, but as it is now, these forums are doing more harm than good, and I can't keep running them.

Thank you to the few people who have tried to understand my point of view so far. I really, really appreciate you guys. You are beautiful people.

Everyone else: If after everything I've said so far, you still don't understand my motivations, I think it's unlikely that you will. We're just too different. Maybe someday in the future it might make sense, but until then, there's no point in arguing about it. I don't have the time or the energy for arguing anymore. I will focus my time and energy on people who support me, and those who need help.

-SoulRiser

RE: The De-Textbook

This book looks very promising. I'll be keeping an eye on reviews to decide if I'll purchase.

I'd be willing to bet that at that the very least your country's history classes have their fair share of obvious propaganda as well.

The De-Textbook

I've heard that the Germans will edit textbooks to be somewhat anti-turk(either playing down certain events, or making them sound like the bad guys) from people I know who've come from there.

Where there's a nation, there's textbooks of lies.

The De-Textbook

Japanese textbooks are quite infamous for playing down the war crimes committed by the Japanese side in World War II.

Also, I've noticed that American textbooks tend to be very careful with the invasions of American Indian nations. I'm not sure if there are books which call events like the Trail of Tears a "genocide" or "eradication". Andrew Jackson was pretty much the US version of Hitler.

US textbooks also seem to neglect mentioning that before Pearl Harbor(a supposedly undeserved attack), the US embargoed trade to Japan and nearly sent the country into a downward spiral by choking them of vital resources(thus the anti-american sentiment and explosive rise of the already-existing psychotic nationalism)

The De-Textbook

And such embargos came when things were really getting funky in East and Southeast Asia.

I'm certain though that most Americans would just think Japan was just bombing Pearl Harbor for the fuck of it. In reality, that makes no sense. Japan was too busy sending its own army all around Asia. Plus, fighting the US would have been something completely different.

The De-Textbook

In reality, the Japanese actually asked the US to stop aiding China. The US then said "Ha. No." and embargoed Japan. Japan relied heavily on American oil and petroleum products, and steel, for their war. So when the resources were cut off, they really suffered a big hit and were the first to raise their fists and lead the chanting "FUCK AMERICA!"(which would then become adopted by Al-Qaeda, the Taliban, Iran and all the commies down south).

So Pearl Harbor happens because the US kicked Japan in the balls.

I can't say much about it because I do not believe nor know history from different sources, but it is enough for me that there was absolutely no mention of Tesla... And I am not even in his fanclub.
