RIP School Survival Forums
August 2001 - June 2017
The School Survival Forums are permanently retired. If you need help with quitting school, unsupportive parents or anything else, there is a list of resources on the Help Page.
If you want to write about your experiences in school, you can write on our blog.
To everyone who joined these forums at some point, and got discouraged by the negativity and left after a while (or even got literally scared off): I'm sorry.
I wasn't good enough at encouraging people to be kinder, and removing people who refuse to be kind. Encouraging people is hard, and removing people creates conflict, and I hate conflict... so that's why I wasn't better at it.
I was a very, very sensitive teen. The atmosphere of this forum as it is now, if it had existed in 1996, would probably have upset me far more than it would have helped.
I can handle quite a lot of negativity and even abuse now, but that isn't the point. I want to help people. I want to help the people who need it the most, and I want to help people like the 1996 version of me.
I'm still figuring out the best way to do that, but as it is now, these forums are doing more harm than good, and I can't keep running them.
Thank you to the few people who have tried to understand my point of view so far. I really, really appreciate you guys. You are beautiful people.
Everyone else: If after everything I've said so far, you still don't understand my motivations, I think it's unlikely that you will. We're just too different. Maybe someday in the future it might make sense, but until then, there's no point in arguing about it. I don't have the time or the energy for arguing anymore. I will focus my time and energy on people who support me, and those who need help.

Going to build a racing seat
Got the plans from a gaming site and I'm going to build a racing game SimRig. I already have the perfect games for it too. Gran Turismo 5, F1 2012, and most recently Dirt 3.

I'm going to buy my own wood, cut the wood with my dad's help, and everything else I'm putting together using my dad's drill and hammer. Then I'm buying a Driving Force GT racing wheel and a junkyard car seat with my own money. The reason I'm using my own money is so my dad can't simply take it away or destroy it if I use it too much. Same with the driving wheel.
This should be great fun once it's all finished and I have my PS3 back in my possession.

Good wheel, that. I have one of those.
But wouldn't your dad find some excuse to take it away anyway, even if it's your own money?

I did a ton of research on racing wheels and I could have gotten the G27, but the best budget wheel is that one and I don't want to go over my budget.
Yes, he probably could. I'll give him more reasons not to, at least

Someday when I live in a bigger place with more space, I'm gonna make myself one too.

Hmm. Deleting posts works now! Anyway, I'm still on the fence about which wheel I want to get.
The Driving Force GT is so much cheaper but the G27 Racing Wheel is such better quality! I have the money for either but I'm not sure which one I want to get.

Well, I don't know about the G27, but there's nothing wrong with the quality of the GT. Driving is 100% accurate, even tiny movements are accurate, the center is accurate, the throttle is good.
The only thing I don't like is how stiff the brake pedal is. And the clicky noise the gear stick makes. Oh yeah, that's only a simple 'up-down' gear switch, not a proper gear lever. So I guess if that matters, go G27. I honestly prefer using the buttons on the wheel for gear changes anyway. The paddle-shifters are also a bit stiff for my liking. I guess those are more personal preferences than quality concerns? And I have no idea if stiffness is different on the G27 either.
