RIP School Survival Forums
August 2001 - June 2017

The School Survival Forums are permanently retired. If you need help with quitting school, unsupportive parents or anything else, there is a list of resources on the Help Page.

If you want to write about your experiences in school, you can write on our blog.

To everyone who joined these forums at some point, and got discouraged by the negativity and left after a while (or even got literally scared off): I'm sorry.

I wasn't good enough at encouraging people to be kinder, and removing people who refuse to be kind. Encouraging people is hard, and removing people creates conflict, and I hate conflict... so that's why I wasn't better at it.

I was a very, very sensitive teen. The atmosphere of this forum as it is now, if it had existed in 1996, would probably have upset me far more than it would have helped.

I can handle quite a lot of negativity and even abuse now, but that isn't the point. I want to help people. I want to help the people who need it the most, and I want to help people like the 1996 version of me.

I'm still figuring out the best way to do that, but as it is now, these forums are doing more harm than good, and I can't keep running them.

Thank you to the few people who have tried to understand my point of view so far. I really, really appreciate you guys. You are beautiful people.

Everyone else: If after everything I've said so far, you still don't understand my motivations, I think it's unlikely that you will. We're just too different. Maybe someday in the future it might make sense, but until then, there's no point in arguing about it. I don't have the time or the energy for arguing anymore. I will focus my time and energy on people who support me, and those who need help.

-SoulRiser

The forums are mostly read-only and are in a maintenance/testing phase, before being permanently archived. Please use this time to get the contact details of people you'd like to keep in touch with. My contact details are here.

Please do not make a mirror copy of the forums in their current state - things will still change, and some people have requested to be able to edit or delete some of their personal info.

Have you ever been drunk?

I think last night/this morning was the first time I've ever been properly drunk. I had about 6-7 shots of jack daniels and it felt weird. I tried to speak normally but just talked a load of nonsense about myself and who I like, I could think rationally but I couldn't speak it.

I don't remember going to sleep and I returned to normal after a good three hours, maybe still a bit out of it, but just like normal again.

However, it was an awesome feeling.

Re: Have you ever been drunk?

I've never gotten really drunk, but I've been buzzed. And there was this one time I had a bigass beer cup and then three hits from a bubbler, and at first I didn't feel anything but when I stood up it was like "oh shit, I can't walk in a straight line, thank god I'm just down the hall from my room." But that was a mix of buzzed/high, which is different than drunk.

I think Buenaventura Durruti is a pretty cool guy. eh kills fascists and doesnt afraid of ruins.

I've never really been drunk, but once I took some rum (about 1/3 of a cup of wine..) and a full cup of red wine becuase I was depressed, it made me feel different and better...

Re: Have you ever been drunk?

you all dissapoint me.

19 shots later, I woke up with my lungs in terrible pain and aching all over. when i asked what happened last night, they told me I ran around the neighborhood (a solid half mile) at sprinting pace, and they tried to stop me but could not catch me. so remeber kids, smoking + drinking + sprinting half a mile = PAIN

that was a good night.

Re: Have you ever been drunk?

The only thing I've drank is a sip out of a cup of apple juice that sat out so long it fermented(or maybe it was a cup of wine, but it looked like apple juice and tasted weird). I know not to drink out of cups when the contents are a mystery now.

I'm not really into drinking. Beer smells nasty, I have a history of alcoholism in my family, and my religion prohibits all drinking(although I don't really understand the Biblical reasoning behind that).

Re: Have you ever been drunk?

Jesus liked wine...

I don't like beer. After I had Beer Barley Soup, I never wanted to taste the shit AGAIN.

Anyway, no, mildly happy, fell out my chair (NOT MY FAULT!) But not drunk. I've only ever drank once at a party, (My friend's mom is seriously awesome, we were playing "Never have I ever" with her. She needed to get up and get another bottle. Laugh She did EVERYTHING under the sun)

She needs to have another fucking birthday party. Laugh Her sister was smashed, she called for two guys walking down the street, and then yelled "YOU GAY?" because they didn't come over. Best day EVER. Surprisingly enough, my party was dubbed second best party of the year.

With raikuron to an extent.

I tried it and it tasted like piss.

Also doesn't help my dad got jailed for shooting some guy while he was drunk.

I know I don't blame the beer but I just don't see the appeal of it.

Hm. My mom adds red wine to her homemade stew, and it does taste good as all hell and fill me with that warm fuzzy feeling.

Then again, the heat from cooking supposedly removes almost all of the alcohol.

Almost all.

Re: Have you ever been drunk?

Genetically, I should be able to hold my liquor. My mom being an alchie and all. But, I rarely ever do.

Believe it or not, my mom's liver is relatively fine. And even though I said "relatively", once you think about how much she ACTUALLY drinks, it seems pretty safe to have some every now and again. With what everyone has you believing, you'd think she would've needed three new kidneys and a liver.

No, I'm a straight edge kid. I dont drink or smoke on a regualr basis or anything.

HoS, I think that your dad being in prision has more to do with him being black than him shooting someone. Just saying.

As for cooking with wine the alchohol content of the wine is already at about 7-10% with cooking the alchohol content in the food is negligable. You could eat that sauce for days and not get drunk. The final product is probably less that 1% total alchohol.

Whilst some work diligently there are those who ask why. I am one of them

In all seriousness, pretty much. Your body digests the alcohol quicker than you can you can eat the alcoholic food.
