RIP School Survival Forums
August 2001 - June 2017

The School Survival Forums are permanently retired. If you need help with quitting school, unsupportive parents or anything else, there is a list of resources on the Help Page.

If you want to write about your experiences in school, you can write on our blog.

To everyone who joined these forums at some point, and got discouraged by the negativity and left after a while (or even got literally scared off): I'm sorry.

I wasn't good enough at encouraging people to be kinder, and removing people who refuse to be kind. Encouraging people is hard, and removing people creates conflict, and I hate conflict... so that's why I wasn't better at it.

I was a very, very sensitive teen. The atmosphere of this forum as it is now, if it had existed in 1996, would probably have upset me far more than it would have helped.

I can handle quite a lot of negativity and even abuse now, but that isn't the point. I want to help people. I want to help the people who need it the most, and I want to help people like the 1996 version of me.

I'm still figuring out the best way to do that, but as it is now, these forums are doing more harm than good, and I can't keep running them.

Thank you to the few people who have tried to understand my point of view so far. I really, really appreciate you guys. You are beautiful people.

Everyone else: If after everything I've said so far, you still don't understand my motivations, I think it's unlikely that you will. We're just too different. Maybe someday in the future it might make sense, but until then, there's no point in arguing about it. I don't have the time or the energy for arguing anymore. I will focus my time and energy on people who support me, and those who need help.

-SoulRiser

The forums are mostly read-only and are in a maintenance/testing phase, before being permanently archived. Please use this time to get the contact details of people you'd like to keep in touch with. My contact details are here.

Please do not make a mirror copy of the forums in their current state - things will still change, and some people have requested to be able to edit or delete some of their personal info.

Star As I Expected...

As always, Monday is approaching, my parents have started to nag on me about some tests I soon am having and I'm not working in the weekends!!!
I've been slaving the last week, and still they think I should use more time on school. A+ didn't matter that much to them, did it?!?!

I don't need a paper to give me recongnition that I am a doctor or something. I am complitely fine with my own satisfaction.

However, I finished The Alchymist by Paulo Coelho today and I have been working on some music, I think is terrible, but which I deleted. Biggrin
Now, I'm doomed because my mom tries to emotionally affect me, by your purpose as long as you live here, is to get good grades at school.
I am going to work on the tasks, but not yet.

People, I wish I was given a couple of millions USD, I would buy a little cabin in the woods, and a Kindle Extra large, download 200 books, get myself an epically good PC, some wifi, water, food, tv, a place where I could go rock climbing, and a place to jog. I wish it was easier. Alternative do not exist to me now, I must follow school. Not as miuch as last week though.

If you have anything you could to comfort me or make my weekend slightly better at this end of the wonderful weekend. :(
Thanks folks, I'm not depressed or sad though, just sharing Smile Biggrin Biggrin Which rocks, I do not care! Biggrin

RE: As I Expected...

Just try to remember that your parents are just being stupid. You will eventually learn to ignore what they say, like I did.

As I Expected...

I wish they could try to understand. They sometimes use the: "Remember all we have done for you!" Thingy which they use to make me feel bad about my decisions. So now, I'm doing math, just took a short brake to check School Survival Forum now Wink
One day, in the next upcoming three years, I will someone gain popularity, either from a website, some idea, some accomplishment, some music I've maybe made, some book I've written, something. I don't know what I'll do, but I'll make my own learning so fun it's shouldn't be allowed in school.

Tell your dad to help you practice to prepare for your career as a prostitute.

Why? The career would fit her really well, and it's excellent. You get to have sex and MONEY. BOTH!!!! It's awesome; I wish I could do it.

RE: As I Expected...

Somehow back on the topic at hand:
I too am planning my life like that. Just waiting at the bottom of society for an opportunity to do something of importance, something profitable. I have plenty of ideas, but school gets in the way of developing them to completeness, and many of them require cash money to begin, which I do not have. If someone would just give me a million bucks... I'd be set. I've been putting very little thought into running away to Colorado, developing my fortune, then moving back, 23-ish years old, as a rich guy who skipped school and is now worth more than all of the graduates put together. The satisfaction that would bring would be awesome.

I applaud your apathetic abilities.

AAAAaaaaa, I see.... Wink Well, I can't say that I give wealthy poop to everything they say and do, and I can't say that I give a wealthy banana to everything that happens in school either. That's an art, and I need those grades........unfortunately...... :(
Personal question, what grades do you have - if you go to school?

I have:
F in AP Government <- I like it but it's hard
A in Metals <- I like messing around with lathes and dangerous shit like welders
F in English <- Useless and asshole teacher
B+ in Pre-Calc (Again) <- OK class but it is the second time I've taken it (passed the first time)
A- in PE/Health <- PE is a shit-class becasue all we do is work/run and the teacher sits there eating his apple, yawning
B- in Honors Chemistry <- I love this class and have a cool (and careless) teacher but I'm too lazy to do the work

Cool, but F's isn't that "not passing". You could try at least getting an E or something, just to improve --- you know the society value Wink

Yes I never go through a ignored person without clicking to look at it.

Congratulations humanity, because you refuse to let go of the old and evolve you actually make people believe in 2012. Not only that, but you're the only species on Earth that were able to make it possible, now we get to sit until we die because we couldn't get to Mars. We have failed as a society and don't deserve our gifts to survive for this long. Maybe this is why dinosaurs are extinct, we sure aren't any better than the dirt you say we're created from. http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=pla...DvwSOFto#! Noo
