RIP School Survival Forums
August 2001 - June 2017
The School Survival Forums are permanently retired. If you need help with quitting school, unsupportive parents or anything else, there is a list of resources on the Help Page.
If you want to write about your experiences in school, you can write on our blog.
To everyone who joined these forums at some point, and got discouraged by the negativity and left after a while (or even got literally scared off): I'm sorry.
I wasn't good enough at encouraging people to be kinder, and removing people who refuse to be kind. Encouraging people is hard, and removing people creates conflict, and I hate conflict... so that's why I wasn't better at it.
I was a very, very sensitive teen. The atmosphere of this forum as it is now, if it had existed in 1996, would probably have upset me far more than it would have helped.
I can handle quite a lot of negativity and even abuse now, but that isn't the point. I want to help people. I want to help the people who need it the most, and I want to help people like the 1996 version of me.
I'm still figuring out the best way to do that, but as it is now, these forums are doing more harm than good, and I can't keep running them.
Thank you to the few people who have tried to understand my point of view so far. I really, really appreciate you guys. You are beautiful people.
Everyone else: If after everything I've said so far, you still don't understand my motivations, I think it's unlikely that you will. We're just too different. Maybe someday in the future it might make sense, but until then, there's no point in arguing about it. I don't have the time or the energy for arguing anymore. I will focus my time and energy on people who support me, and those who need help.

i like cold weather because it fits my cold, edgy heart of black sorrow
Warm weather is the best weather. I don't understand how people can prefer cold weather over warm weather, unless they purposely want to give themselves hypothermia and contract diseases due to a lowered immune system status.
I live in Arizona, where it's a dry heat that burns the shit out of people in the summer, sunscreen or not. I've been to California several times, where it's still kind of dry, but makes you sweat more. Then there's Florida, fucking Florida, which while it can get some really righteously epic rainfall sometimes is a DRENCHED HEAT that makes you sweat from every pore on your body. Literally.
I understand that warm weather is good and nice, and I like warm. But since it's more SCALDING FUCKING HOT than warm, I strongly prefer the cold. Which is why I enjoy the fuck out of December and January.

My logic: I live in the north, and even living in the north, I hate the fuck out of mid-summer. Maybe it's because we live by a lake, it's humid as fuck. Though, when it's warm and raining, it's the greatest thing ever. Anyway, If I'm only slightly irritated in semi-northern Winter, but pissed as fuck in northern summer, imagine if I lived in the south, maybe I'd have gotten used to it, but DAMN. I'd be a bitch.
I prefer Fall to Winter, and Summer to Spring (Fucking bees EVERYWHERE in spring)

I prefer cold weather because it keeps the bugs away. And because I like the cold.

TRIGGER WARNING: THIS TRIGGER WARNING CONTAINS TRIGGER WARNINGS!
Dear Tumblrites:Despite your wrongly self-diagnosedPTSD, no line ofscientific evidencesuggests people can be triggered over theinternet. Triggering works through thesenses(i.e. smell, taste, touch, vision, hearing.) but it goes throughreal time; if you're not experiencing it in real life as it'sACTUALLY HAPPENINGin yourACTUALlife, youCANNOTbe triggered. The only exception to this is if you have aseizure, but then again, that's triggered byepilepsy(i.e. rapidly-changing flashing lights)NOT PTSD. Remembering a bad incident is NOT the same thing as having aflashback. When you remember, youthink; when youflashback, youfeel.

I hate hot weather, it makes me unable to become comfortable. It also doesn't help that I live in Australia which is a magnet for the Sun.
Cold weather is great because you can control your temperature much more than the heat. Heaters, warm clothes, blankets etc. There's something about being inside a cosy and warm house while it rains outside. It's a sucks ass my Xmas is in summer, why can't I enjoy a white christmas!?
I PRFER warmer weather because I don't get much of it.
But when I think of survival you can always add more clothing or build a fire, but once you're naked there's not many ways to cool down.

You never really get used to it. It'll make you as angry as it did last summer every year.
It's supposed to be fall, but it's still in the 80s and it's humid as fuck right now. We were in a drought, so it's been a dry heat until now. I much prefer the dry stuff.
I can't wait until it gets cold. I can walk outside without breaking into a sweat, the bugs and snakes will be gone, and it'll just be lovely in general.
I mainly meant, if I were to move down South, if I would adapt eventually. If you live somewhere, there really is no "adapting" because you grew up with it. It's less adapting, and more not thinking about it, I guess.

I don't understand how anyone can like warm weather more. If you wear anything more than a t-shirt and shorts you're unbearably hot, and even then you often are unbearably hot. Even indoors, air conditioning is a complete necessity unless you want to be drenched in sweat. Plus, in winter all you need to do is find a jacket/gloves/warm covers/etc, rather than jump in a pool or turn on the AC. Also, if you have a decent amount of hair, when it's warm the sun causes your scalp to itch.
tl;dr Cold > Warm, as pretty much all negative effects of cold can easily be avoided, unlike warm.

It gets SO FUCKING HOT down here, and every summer is just as miserable as the last.
Oh, and it SHOULD be cold, but except for a few days of the first week of October it's been warm, FINALLY cooled down yesterday and kept getting colder fast, hope it stays now.

Exactly.
The only positive thing I hear people say about warm weather is "But you can go to the beach/pool!" Implying I enjoy either.

Add for truth.
I actually love walking outside in cold weather more than warm.
I prefer the cold. The apartment is 69-70 degrees at all times. I do love the fuck out of northern michigan (45 parrellel) summer nights though. During the day it can get HOT out but then by the night it has almost always toned itself down to the low 80s. And becuase I live by one of the greatest summer vacation spots the warm weather and beaches bring some of the finest looking babes you've ever seen.
Whilst some work diligently there are those who ask why. I am one of them

Autumn evenings are the fucking best. The leaves are gone NOW, but just two weeks ago, at around four, the sun would reflect off the leaves, and my whole room would turn reddish. Most badass thing ever,
