RIP School Survival Forums
August 2001 - June 2017

The School Survival Forums are permanently retired. If you need help with quitting school, unsupportive parents or anything else, there is a list of resources on the Help Page.

If you want to write about your experiences in school, you can write on our blog.

To everyone who joined these forums at some point, and got discouraged by the negativity and left after a while (or even got literally scared off): I'm sorry.

I wasn't good enough at encouraging people to be kinder, and removing people who refuse to be kind. Encouraging people is hard, and removing people creates conflict, and I hate conflict... so that's why I wasn't better at it.

I was a very, very sensitive teen. The atmosphere of this forum as it is now, if it had existed in 1996, would probably have upset me far more than it would have helped.

I can handle quite a lot of negativity and even abuse now, but that isn't the point. I want to help people. I want to help the people who need it the most, and I want to help people like the 1996 version of me.

I'm still figuring out the best way to do that, but as it is now, these forums are doing more harm than good, and I can't keep running them.

Thank you to the few people who have tried to understand my point of view so far. I really, really appreciate you guys. You are beautiful people.

Everyone else: If after everything I've said so far, you still don't understand my motivations, I think it's unlikely that you will. We're just too different. Maybe someday in the future it might make sense, but until then, there's no point in arguing about it. I don't have the time or the energy for arguing anymore. I will focus my time and energy on people who support me, and those who need help.

-SoulRiser

The forums are mostly read-only and are in a maintenance/testing phase, before being permanently archived. Please use this time to get the contact details of people you'd like to keep in touch with. My contact details are here.

Please do not make a mirror copy of the forums in their current state - things will still change, and some people have requested to be able to edit or delete some of their personal info.

The moral/ethics game!

Ask questions that test one another's ethics or morals. Answer questions or post your own!

I'll start.

You have the choice to kill someone for $500,000. The person you're going to be killing is a family man who Is poor yet does what he can to help his family. If you're smart with your money, you'll be set for life. Tax free money with no strings attached, you just have to look this man in the eyes and kill him. The method you use to kill him is up to you. What would you do?

Just a normal guy down on his luck, trying his best to help his family get by.

too little money in general.
Sharpie you have to make this more worth the while because even tax free its still gonna suck to spend it to get out of the country and avoid the pigs.

500,000?
That buys you ONE HOUSE.
One man for one house?
It depends on the man, if he was nice, I'd let him live. And it depends on how many people rely on him and how much of a great guy he is.
If we ranked these factors from 1-10 (1 being least desirable person, 10 being the most)
I'd kill people from the 1-5 range for $500k. 5-10 I'd let live.

I'd let him live. It is immoral to kill other human beings unless those humans pose a clear danger to your own life or the life of others.

RE: The moral/ethics game!

I wouldn't kill him. I agree with Efs on the 1-10 scale, never mind how I'd be able to live with myself if I'd just murdered someone who'd never done anything really bad...

Go to work. Send your kids to school. Follow fashion. Act normal. Walk on the pavement. Watch TV. Save for your old age. Obey the law. Repeat after me: "I am free."

Very tempting sharpie.
That would be some good money to add to my pocket for a while and he is just some middle class sucker caught in the game of family that may do the same to me if given the chance.

Hmmmm a coin toss..

Heads he dies and tails he lives.
Nothing more fair and honest than chance after all.

Wow The I would at least make sure his death is quick so he wouldn't suffer(nothing personal).
Your a newbie and you might miss and he'll be in pain.

Make sure he is asleep or high on drugs I feed him so he would at least die painlessly. Not much of a humanitarian but its nothing personal and would like to make it that way.

Can't disclose his race because it might influence your choice too much, this is a choice based on your moral values and not how you view another race

$500,000? For killing one man?

500,000, and you won't get caught, no one will know it was you. Is this like that 'box' situation where you press a button, kill a person you don't know, and get money, but then your assured the button be given to someone who doesn't know you?

If we're talking no repercussions other then guilt, yes.
