RIP School Survival Forums
August 2001 - June 2017

The School Survival Forums are permanently retired. If you need help with quitting school, unsupportive parents or anything else, there is a list of resources on the Help Page.

If you want to write about your experiences in school, you can write on our blog.

To everyone who joined these forums at some point, and got discouraged by the negativity and left after a while (or even got literally scared off): I'm sorry.

I wasn't good enough at encouraging people to be kinder, and removing people who refuse to be kind. Encouraging people is hard, and removing people creates conflict, and I hate conflict... so that's why I wasn't better at it.

I was a very, very sensitive teen. The atmosphere of this forum as it is now, if it had existed in 1996, would probably have upset me far more than it would have helped.

I can handle quite a lot of negativity and even abuse now, but that isn't the point. I want to help people. I want to help the people who need it the most, and I want to help people like the 1996 version of me.

I'm still figuring out the best way to do that, but as it is now, these forums are doing more harm than good, and I can't keep running them.

Thank you to the few people who have tried to understand my point of view so far. I really, really appreciate you guys. You are beautiful people.

Everyone else: If after everything I've said so far, you still don't understand my motivations, I think it's unlikely that you will. We're just too different. Maybe someday in the future it might make sense, but until then, there's no point in arguing about it. I don't have the time or the energy for arguing anymore. I will focus my time and energy on people who support me, and those who need help.

The forums are mostly read-only and are in a maintenance/testing phase, before being permanently archived. Please use this time to get the contact details of people you'd like to keep in touch with. My contact details are here.

Please do not make a mirror copy of the forums in their current state - things will still change, and some people have requested to be able to edit or delete some of their personal info.

Morning detention for not talking, and more.

I would like to start off this post by calling bullshit on this whole week. Words cannot describe how angry I am at this situation. If I had to try and explain my rage, it would be something akin to this -

Hidden stuff:

Well first of all I was sitting in 4th period, which is Success Strategies, which is code for homeroom. So we have a substitute teacher. And our regular teacher writes down that 7th and 8th period are not allowed to talk the day before. So our sub, being completely inept, applies this to the whole class.

So I'm sitting talking with some friends, "HEY, no talking" alright, so I shut up, wanting to avoid a white slip. So my two friends beside me start talking again, so she tells us again to stop talking. So my two friends not caring as usual continue to talk. So she points in our general direction and says "Go sit down, front of the class"

So one of my friends who was talking asks who, and she just says go sit down. He asks who again, she just says sit down. Finally she gets up, stands in front of MY desk, and tells me to go sit down. Classy.

So I'm sitting in the front of the class, simmering because she didn't believe me that I wasn't talking. So then she yells about five more times to quit talking at the class. I say "This class has been able to talk all year, you can't expect them to just drop that privilege on command" in what I would consider a respectful tone.

She then says well too bad because rules and such and mutters under her breathe how I'm getting detention for sassing her.

Then in 8th period today, we were missing a good 3/4 of the class. So when the teacher walked in and kids started asking her if they could do various things like celebrity heads or heads up seven up. So I ask if we can play cards. She walks over to me and tells me she's had it with me for the rest of the day and that I'm not allowed to talk the rest of the period unless I'm asking about the lesson.

God screw this school. That first story, that's happened like 3 times. I've gotten in trouble more then once for not talking. Freaking school man.[/Reverse]

1.Knock her out.
2.Staple her eyelids shut.
3.Get a string and needle and stitch her mouth shut.
4.Shove fire ants up her nose.
5.Handcuff her arms and legs.
6.Record it.
7.Mail it to her family, writing that it is her will.

Sounds like someone needed a dose of "who the fuck do you think you are?"

Do Viet Cong style torture to her.

I heard about Viet Cong keeping people in tight cages for months at a time where they had no room to stretch. Its one of my greatest fears to die alone in a situation like that.

Chinese Water torture. Works every fucking time.

But seriously, I know these kinds of teachers. Just man the fuck up and don't care about them, as long as the consequences aren't to harsh.

That's sucky. Next time, tell her she is being a unjust bitch (except the bitch part) for punishing you for doing nothing wrong.
