Thought Criminal went on a deleting spree. Here's what he had to say for himself:

Oh, also.

I've realized that mods having the ability to delete posts or threads does more harm than good overall, so I've disabled it. If you wanna make something go away, you can just move/split it to Random/Quality Threads and it'll be purged eventually. You can still edit posts though. Just don't abuse that, please None

And another thing.

Here is a copy of the 'broken' forums after TC's deletion. I'm putting this up temporarily so you can salvage any posts or whatever, because the latest backup was from at least a few hours before TC started deleting stuff, so otherwise those new posts will be lost forever.

People have been saying that the forums have been turning to shit for years now, and yet I don't see it getting any worse than it's been. In fact, it's been less shitty than it has been in the past. Ever since Freak and that other guy first fucked with the forums, it's been trendy for mods to go ape shit any time they become dissatisfied. Seriously, if people here are pissing you off that much, just leave and come back when you grow some balls.

Personally I think it was for the better good. Everything is back to the way it was before all that havoc and fighting. This all chained from the Raikuron vs. AWOL thing. So I think honestly, when you look at it, it did more good than harm.

I'm not a fan of not being able to delete posts, as now if someone were to spam pornography....for me to actually get rid of the pictures I would have to edit each one individually. Just moving them to the bin wouldn't make the images go away.

K, any better suggestions? I seriously don't want to have to restore backups ever again unless something actually breaks by itself.

Your best choices are either to improve the moderation staff....or to make images not work in the recycle bin....this way when we move posts there it doesn't matter whats in them.

edit: hyperlinks in general as well...as to not let spambots post links to virus's

Sounds about right... It would also be a good idea to make this "deleting spree fad" die. Make it a point that deleting shit fucks up the forums entirely and causes Soulriser to have to do a lot of unnecessary work. Make sure everyone knows that it isn't a noble thing to do that helps everybody... It's fucking stupid and the equivalent of hacking into a website for the sole intent of fucking it up... pointless scriptkidy shit.

Uploading and implementing a backup is a pain in the ass, especially when one hasn't been made recently.

Yeah. This. It's a pain in my ass, because I have to fix it, and if I don't feel like fixing it then I get people nagging me to fix it, which makes me want to fix it even less. Stabhead

And I have to make a second forum for the fucked up version so that people can salvage their more recent posts as well.

I have an idea...you can make another forum just like the recyclebin but have it hidden...A maximum security recycle bin...so to speak. This way we can move the pornographic images there..

That could work. It could be auto purged as well. Only problem is that in order to have access to moving something to a forum, the mods must have access to be able to see it as well... so it won't really be all that hidden.

Who cares if mods see it? Make the forum called something like...Porn Graveyard....have it be mod only....and make sure we are all aware that the only point of that forum is to dump inappropriate images into it. Voila...you can have your cake of no mass deletes....and you can eat it as well with the mods being able to do their jobs (save for the fact that mods get an additional annoying link to a pointless forum.)
