To everyone who joined these forums at some point, and got discouraged by the negativity and left after a while (or even got literally scared off): I'm sorry.

I wasn't good enough at encouraging people to be kinder, and removing people who refuse to be kind. Encouraging people is hard, and removing people creates conflict, and I hate conflict... so that's why I wasn't better at it.

I was a very, very sensitive teen. The atmosphere of this forum as it is now, if it had existed in 1996, would probably have upset me far more than it would have helped.

I can handle quite a lot of negativity and even abuse now, but that isn't the point. I want to help people. I want to help the people who need it the most, and I want to help people like the 1996 version of me.

I'm still figuring out the best way to do that, but as it is now, these forums are doing more harm than good, and I can't keep running them.

Thank you to the few people who have tried to understand my point of view so far. I really, really appreciate you guys. You are beautiful people.

Everyone else: If after everything I've said so far, you still don't understand my motivations, I think it's unlikely that you will. We're just too different. Maybe someday in the future it might make sense, but until then, there's no point in arguing about it. I don't have the time or the energy for arguing anymore. I will focus my time and energy on people who support me, and those who need help.

Declaration of Sentiments

I'm putting together a little personal project, and I'd like some input on it. During the women's suffrage movement in the U.S., they posted a parody of the Declaration of Independence, called the Declaration of Sentiments, basically replacing all of the anti-Brit stuff with their own political ideas. I'd like to do this with S.S. I have the intro done, and that's below, but since I know few/none of you will read it, here's my question- what has the school system done to you? I need a list of transgressions to post at the bottom of it.

And here's the quote/parody:

“We hold these Truths to be self-evident, that all Men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty, & the Pursuit of Happiness: —That to secure these Rights, Governments are instituted among Men, deriving their just Powers from the Consent of the governed; that whenever any Form of Government becomes destructive of these Ends, it is the Right of the People to alter or abolish it, & to institute new Government, laying it's Foundation on such Principles, & organizing it's Powers in such Form, as to them shall seem most likely to effect their Safety & Happiness. Such has been the patient sufferance of the children of the United States, and such is now the necessity which constrains them to alter their former systems of government. The history of the school systems of the United States is a history of repeated injuries and usurpations, all having in direct object the establishment of an absolute tyranny over the young. To prove this, let facts be submitted to a candid world.
