RIP School Survival Forums
August 2001 - June 2017

The School Survival Forums are permanently retired. If you need help with quitting school, unsupportive parents or anything else, there is a list of resources on the Help Page.

If you want to write about your experiences in school, you can write on our blog.

To everyone who joined these forums at some point, and got discouraged by the negativity and left after a while (or even got literally scared off): I'm sorry.

I wasn't good enough at encouraging people to be kinder, and removing people who refuse to be kind. Encouraging people is hard, and removing people creates conflict, and I hate conflict... so that's why I wasn't better at it.

I was a very, very sensitive teen. The atmosphere of this forum as it is now, if it had existed in 1996, would probably have upset me far more than it would have helped.

I can handle quite a lot of negativity and even abuse now, but that isn't the point. I want to help people. I want to help the people who need it the most, and I want to help people like the 1996 version of me.

I'm still figuring out the best way to do that, but as it is now, these forums are doing more harm than good, and I can't keep running them.

Thank you to the few people who have tried to understand my point of view so far. I really, really appreciate you guys. You are beautiful people.

Everyone else: If after everything I've said so far, you still don't understand my motivations, I think it's unlikely that you will. We're just too different. Maybe someday in the future it might make sense, but until then, there's no point in arguing about it. I don't have the time or the energy for arguing anymore. I will focus my time and energy on people who support me, and those who need help.

The forums are mostly read-only and are in a maintenance/testing phase, before being permanently archived. Please use this time to get the contact details of people you'd like to keep in touch with. My contact details are here.

Please do not make a mirror copy of the forums in their current state - things will still change, and some people have requested to be able to edit or delete some of their personal info.

random free games i enjoyed from my childhood

When I used to have my pentium II computer and dial-up, I played a lot of text-based games and weird, bullshit indie games. These games definitely gave me some enjoyment though, just a few:

Many of the games from I mostly enjoyed the Exile series, a lot of games are copyfags of each other, and use the same sound effects and what-not. Also the actual screen that you play the game on is like 500x500 or something, it's really small. And it uses programmer-graphics. It wasn't until like Geneforge that spiderweb did something original and started making something that looked semi-polished. It's shareware, I used to just get a crack to unlock the games, but much later on when I got a job, I went ahead and bought the Exile games just to support the company.

The new Geneforge games are pretty decent if you're looking to kill some time. I would recommend it.

Dink Motherfucking Smallwood

It's a silly little adventure/rpg game, it has a few secrets/easter eggs. You'll get about 15 hours of gameplay from it.

Well of Souls

It's an RPG, meant to be played online with others, although it has an offline option. I can't even believe this shit still exists and is active.

It's hard to describe how it works. You wander around the map killing shit and you level up. Although the game is pretty unique in how ugly it looks. I used to have a fun time being 12 years old talking to random people and making a dumbass out of myself. Good times nigga.

It's text-based, very heavily RNG. It's rough. When you die, your character is deleted (unless you become king between level 1000-2000 and you get 1 life I think, or you get to level 3000 where you get a few lives, and a couple other random, uncommon situations). The philosophy behind the game design is, anything that helps you, may possibly hurt you in some way.

I played this shit like 10 years ago and it was torture, because I sucked at it. I have logged on here and there throughout the years (I can't believe it still exists), and I've gotten better, I've gotten to level 3000 a few times which only takes a few days if you're good.

Whatever, these games are horseshit, don't even play them.

He was an hero. He will always be remembered.

Tyrian 2000:

If you love Shoot-em-ups, this is one of the greatest. I used to play all the time as a kid. Has tons of varied weapons, equipment, and secret levels + other little extras. I still play it every now and then.
