RIP School Survival Forums
August 2001 - June 2017

The School Survival Forums are permanently retired. If you need help with quitting school, unsupportive parents or anything else, there is a list of resources on the Help Page.

If you want to write about your experiences in school, you can write on our blog.

To everyone who joined these forums at some point, and got discouraged by the negativity and left after a while (or even got literally scared off): I'm sorry.

I wasn't good enough at encouraging people to be kinder, and removing people who refuse to be kind. Encouraging people is hard, and removing people creates conflict, and I hate conflict... so that's why I wasn't better at it.

I was a very, very sensitive teen. The atmosphere of this forum as it is now, if it had existed in 1996, would probably have upset me far more than it would have helped.

I can handle quite a lot of negativity and even abuse now, but that isn't the point. I want to help people. I want to help the people who need it the most, and I want to help people like the 1996 version of me.

I'm still figuring out the best way to do that, but as it is now, these forums are doing more harm than good, and I can't keep running them.

Thank you to the few people who have tried to understand my point of view so far. I really, really appreciate you guys. You are beautiful people.

Everyone else: If after everything I've said so far, you still don't understand my motivations, I think it's unlikely that you will. We're just too different. Maybe someday in the future it might make sense, but until then, there's no point in arguing about it. I don't have the time or the energy for arguing anymore. I will focus my time and energy on people who support me, and those who need help.

-SoulRiser

Fallout 3 or Fallout: NV?

Which one do you like better.

I sort of like both equally; Fallout 3's best feature is its atmosphere, and Fallout: NV's best feature is its story.

Fallout 3 has an atmosphere that is very hostile and scary, with constant threats to your safety, and only a few places that are actually safe. Its story is good, but I find that it weakens the further you get into the game.

Fallout: NV's Mojave Wasteland is way safer and open than the Capital Wasteland. Its game play is just as good as Fallout 3, cant deny that, but unlike fallout 3, its story is way more enjoyable to play through, with more choice in which path you go down. I like how in NV you actually choose which faction to fight for.

RE: Fallout 3 or Fallout: NV?

I prefer Fallout New Vegas's more increased difficulty. Even if you play at Very Easy, it's still very hard to kill some powerful enemies. More challenge, bur that means I need to find better guns and better armor

I like Fallout 3 too, but not so much.

RE: Fallout 3 or Fallout: NV?

I like fallout nv because in fallout 3 I don't give a shit about finding my dad but in nv, I want to kill that bastard who shot me in the head. Also, the capital wasteland IS like 80 times bigger than the Mojave, but the capital just seems like roaming into nowhere whenever I explore, but there's always shit to find in the Mojave. So I give story and environment to nv

RE: Fallout 3 or Fallout: NV?

Hard choice.. I've been playing a lot of fallout 3 lately, haven't touched NV in a few months. I love exploring the capitol wasteland and am still finding new things despite playing the game off and on since release (maybe 1,000 hours total? No idea.)

NV is fun too but after awhile it gets a bit boring because of the lack of things to kill. Sorta shallow but it's the truth; with fallout 3 you have endless respawning super mutants, raiders, and enclave as well as the awesome random events to keep things interesting. There aren't any random events in NV and hardly any respawning things to shoot.

I guess I like fallout 3 more because of the atmosphere.

I liked NV more, but in both it was really painfully obvious that the game world existed not only because of you, but specifically for you. Still enjoyed them, just not as much as it would be if they were more "you're not a superhero, just another pitiful bastard roaming the hellscape".

Welcome to the entire fallout/TES series.

RE: Fallout 3 or Fallout: NV?

Fallout 3 maybe just takes the edge for me. Better story, felt like more of a wasteland, metro tunnels.

NV takes the cake hands down. although with all Bethesda games, get it for PC. mods separate these games from pieces of shit, these games are made to be tailored to your specific preference

I liked Fallout 3 more because it wasn't so yellow and dull, but rather appealing green.

RE: Fallout 3 or Fallout: NV?

I really prefer the atmosphere of The Capitol Wasteland over that of the Mojave. It feels alot more threatening and post-apocalypse, The Mojave is alot safer and it just kinda seems like the atmosphere hasn't changed much from it's pre-war state.
Sure it's a dry barren wasteland but isn't the Mojave always like that? That being said I do like that there are always places to find in the Mojave, In DC it seemed like you were going nowhere when you got out towards paradise falls and Fort Constantine.

I definitely prefer the story in NV though. I like the factions and the large number of people. It certainly makes better use of the role playing element that the game is supposed to have.
I also prefer NV's UI.

I'm sure this is what you meant to say.

I liked Fallout 3 for the more destroyed urban thing, I mean, Vegas is fine, but the whole "Untouched by the bombs" thing kind of, I don't know, takes the allure of a post-apocalyptic game for me.

TRIGGER WARNING: THIS TRIGGER WARNING CONTAINS TRIGGER WARNINGS!

Dear Tumblrites: Despite your wrongly self-diagnosed PTSD, no line of scientific evidence suggests people can be triggered over the internet. Triggering works through the senses (i.e. smell, taste, touch, vision, hearing.) but it goes through real time; if you're not experiencing it in real life as it's ACTUALLY HAPPENING in your ACTUAL life, you CANNOT be triggered. The only exception to this is if you have a seizure, but then again, that's triggered by epilepsy (i.e. rapidly-changing flashing lights) NOT PTSD. Remembering a bad incident is NOT the same thing as having a flashback. When you remember, you think; when you flashback, you feel.
