To everyone who joined these forums at some point, and got discouraged by the negativity and left after a while (or even got literally scared off): I'm sorry.
I wasn't good enough at encouraging people to be kinder, and removing people who refuse to be kind. Encouraging people is hard, and removing people creates conflict, and I hate conflict... so that's why I wasn't better at it.
I was a very, very sensitive teen. The atmosphere of this forum as it is now, if it had existed in 1996, would probably have upset me far more than it would have helped.
I can handle quite a lot of negativity and even abuse now, but that isn't the point. I want to help people. I want to help the people who need it the most, and I want to help people like the 1996 version of me.
I'm still figuring out the best way to do that, but as it is now, these forums are doing more harm than good, and I can't keep running them.
Thank you to the few people who have tried to understand my point of view so far. I really, really appreciate you guys. You are beautiful people.
Everyone else: If after everything I've said so far, you still don't understand my motivations, I think it's unlikely that you will. We're just too different. Maybe someday in the future it might make sense, but until then, there's no point in arguing about it. I don't have the time or the energy for arguing anymore. I will focus my time and energy on people who support me, and those who need help.

Second, maybe that "potential irl bro" is just trying to be friends? Maybe he doesn't know anything about you, and so is trying to hide it by covering his words with memes. If you told him, for serious, that it bothers you that he always speaks that way, and asked him not to do it because you genuinely find it irritating, he might lay off. He'll be even more likely to stop it if you can find some other topic to connect over, or- and this is the brony kicker- tell him, "you're not loving or tolerating." It might take awhile to break the habit, but if you gently reprimand him each time he spouts a meme he should eventually stop.
It would be easier if you would try to watch some of the episodes, so you can understand his jokes and share some laughter, but I don't think you're going to do that.

He must truly be a "soulless gingerzombie with a black vortex for a heart", though, considering how many times I've actually tried doing just what he suggests. Unfortunately, I have not succeeded, and am down a backpack (that was torn by the rocks I filled it with when I tried to drown) a few skin cells (judging by the scar tissue on my arms) and whatever it is Ibuprofen takes from you when you ingest about 34 times the normal dose.
MLP keeps me sane, and alive. He went a little too far.

Looking at your picture, though, it seems like there was only one stereotypical person out of all those bronies. There are 18 other people in that picture that do not match the stereotype. Clearly. The thing is their data suggests it IS a male thing. Not exclusively a male thing but according to their own data it is much more of a male thing. They did not bust the myth they proved it true. Not saying there is anything wrong with it being a male thing.

I don't watch the show. I haven't really tried, and have no current desire to try and watch the show.
But it seems I am the only one (besides Sociopath and a few others) that can actually tolerate these people. I can understand if you would shun some 40 year old guy who came on here with a brony sig, avatar, and posted everything pony.
But I don't get why the majority of SS shuns 'bronies' as soon as they identify themselves as one.
