RIP School Survival Forums
August 2001 - June 2017
The School Survival Forums are permanently retired. If you need help with quitting school, unsupportive parents or anything else, there is a list of resources on the Help Page.
If you want to write about your experiences in school, you can write on our blog.
To everyone who joined these forums at some point, and got discouraged by the negativity and left after a while (or even got literally scared off): I'm sorry.
I wasn't good enough at encouraging people to be kinder, and removing people who refuse to be kind. Encouraging people is hard, and removing people creates conflict, and I hate conflict... so that's why I wasn't better at it.
I was a very, very sensitive teen. The atmosphere of this forum as it is now, if it had existed in 1996, would probably have upset me far more than it would have helped.
I can handle quite a lot of negativity and even abuse now, but that isn't the point. I want to help people. I want to help the people who need it the most, and I want to help people like the 1996 version of me.
I'm still figuring out the best way to do that, but as it is now, these forums are doing more harm than good, and I can't keep running them.
Thank you to the few people who have tried to understand my point of view so far. I really, really appreciate you guys. You are beautiful people.
Everyone else: If after everything I've said so far, you still don't understand my motivations, I think it's unlikely that you will. We're just too different. Maybe someday in the future it might make sense, but until then, there's no point in arguing about it. I don't have the time or the energy for arguing anymore. I will focus my time and energy on people who support me, and those who need help.

There is a show called My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic. There are a number of people who like the show, including some adult males. They call themselves, "bronies," and spend a portion of their time talking about their love of the show on the internet.
This annoys many other people on the internet who don't like the show, and flame/troll wars pop up between the brony fans and other assorted people. So basically, it's not about the show, but about the behavior of the fans, similar to Twilight.
I should also probably state that I didn't realize this wasn't a serious discussion until gore goroth explained that he posted brony Hitler, "for the lulz."
"I have been allotted months of futility,
and nights of misery have been assigned to me.
When I lie down I think, ‘How long before I get up?’
The night drags on, and I toss and turn until dawn." Job 7:3-4
Both of my parents are teachers. My body is bound, but my mind is free.

I know what it is, I have the jist of most of season 1 actually thanks to my 6 year old cousin I'm responsible for.
What I don't get about the conflict is why it matters so much to the people attacking fans of the show.

Same reason why people diss twilight and jersey shore. The fanbase and the big trends that come from them.

um no bronyism is the cancer of the internet, a growing trend of faggots who think "hurr durr mlp so gud becuz ~counterculture~" when it's actually mediocre and does not deserve anywhere near the level of popularity it recieves
inb4 stury and myth responds with more TOLERANCE and shitty pony captions because it is physically impossible for a ponyfag to not keep ponyshit to themselves

I thought this was SS, where we all hate everything and we are 'fuck da system' cynics.
MFW: SS is being taken by the brony machine and turning into love and tolerence baby boomer hippies.

OK, lets allow it.

TRIGGER WARNING: THIS TRIGGER WARNING CONTAINS TRIGGER WARNINGS!
Dear Tumblrites:Despite your wrongly self-diagnosedPTSD, no line ofscientific evidencesuggests people can be triggered over theinternet. Triggering works through thesenses(i.e. smell, taste, touch, vision, hearing.) but it goes throughreal time; if you're not experiencing it in real life as it'sACTUALLY HAPPENINGin yourACTUALlife, youCANNOTbe triggered. The only exception to this is if you have aseizure, but then again, that's triggered byepilepsy(i.e. rapidly-changing flashing lights)NOT PTSD. Remembering a bad incident is NOT the same thing as having aflashback. When you remember, youthink; when youflashback, youfeel.

Well I never really fell into that category.
Also I am not too much of a fan of MLP. I just don't see the appeal besides what I said and "zomg counter culture".
I mean... sometimes Go Diego Go entertains me but that's about it.

Not me. I didn't hardly even know people liked it anymore. It's probably just some thing about getting attention, you know, how people want to be interestingly 'random,' or 'unique,' or immature or insane or whatever. The world is a big place, you know. There aren't enough bandwagons to jump on in terms of the unique way.
I think it's dumb. I think it's just like Hello Kitty, only more dumb. You know what I mean. All these girls used to pretend to be into Hello Kitty, ones old enough to be in or out of high school.

not a fan of the show(never seen it) but I did find a comic of sorts which for some reason made me go wtf(not gonna post the wtf parts) though least they aren't horses.
