I'm getting pretty good FPS with my 7600GT with HDR and distances on max. Textures look like crap though.

oooh, it's a thread about one of my fav games

very addictive indeed. i've started a new character twice now, first one was a thief, 2nd one a plain fighter dude, and 3rd one is going to be a vampire necromancer... (yes i know u cant be a REAL necromancer, but u can get pretty close)

it's funnnnnnnnn....

and yeah, it's a bit of a beast on the PC specs. so glad i got my new 3Dcard... geforce 7800GS runs ok with some of the detail turned down, though i'd NEVER turn down textures. never. HDR and fancy shadows i can easily live without, though

btw, toucanman, there's a mod for the game that makes the distant land textures look a bit less crappy. search for LandscapeLODTextureReplacement 1.0.zip and Landscape LOD NormalMap Fix 1.0.rar

Oblivion is really fun. However due to the beta patch i lost my level 48 argonian mage with almost every skill maxed out and had around 2 million gp...

I had always pick the default mage class. Mages are the way to go. I now have a brenton mage. Stronger than ever im level 37 and i have all spell schools maxed out. I can dish out 240 damage in an instant. My little method of killing in 1-2 hits is simple.

Weakness to lightning 100% 10 secs
Weakness to magicka 100% 10 secs
Soultrap 5 secs
(this is a custom made spell its completley harmless but the aftereffect is devastating. I named it "Butter u up")

After my opponet falls, I collect their soul with azuras star and keep my lightning staff charged.

Ogres, daedra, EVEN storm atranotches die from this. Storm atranotches are soposto be IMMUNE to lightning. However my spell makes them recieve 160 damage isntead of 240 because of their natural lightning immunity. If in the unforunate event someone survives they probably end up with about 10% HP anaways. So about half a second later i shock them again and put them out. Its so very fun to see people do backflips from getting hit by lightning.

Nobody can get close enough to me to harm me. If they do. Im wearing a full daedra armor set with my heavy armor skill at 100, and a daedric longsword that dishes out 40 shock damage per hit with a blade skill of 100. Yes I power level to make sure i gain the maximum HP i can possibly get every level as well as maximum multipliers.

Ive been into elder scrolls since it hit the elder scrolls 3. Great great game!

... I am a bit of a nerd when it comes to RPG and FPS games.

Yeah, oblivion is a great game, I've probly played it through with 4-6 characters, I wanted to try all the different types(ie Warrior, theif, mage). I play on a 360 too, I love my Xbox.
