RIP School Survival Forums
August 2001 - June 2017

The School Survival Forums are permanently retired. If you need help with quitting school, unsupportive parents or anything else, there is a list of resources on the Help Page.

If you want to write about your experiences in school, you can write on our blog.

To everyone who joined these forums at some point, and got discouraged by the negativity and left after a while (or even got literally scared off): I'm sorry.

I wasn't good enough at encouraging people to be kinder, and removing people who refuse to be kind. Encouraging people is hard, and removing people creates conflict, and I hate conflict... so that's why I wasn't better at it.

I was a very, very sensitive teen. The atmosphere of this forum as it is now, if it had existed in 1996, would probably have upset me far more than it would have helped.

I can handle quite a lot of negativity and even abuse now, but that isn't the point. I want to help people. I want to help the people who need it the most, and I want to help people like the 1996 version of me.

I'm still figuring out the best way to do that, but as it is now, these forums are doing more harm than good, and I can't keep running them.

Thank you to the few people who have tried to understand my point of view so far. I really, really appreciate you guys. You are beautiful people.

Everyone else: If after everything I've said so far, you still don't understand my motivations, I think it's unlikely that you will. We're just too different. Maybe someday in the future it might make sense, but until then, there's no point in arguing about it. I don't have the time or the energy for arguing anymore. I will focus my time and energy on people who support me, and those who need help.

-SoulRiser

The forums are mostly read-only and are in a maintenance/testing phase, before being permanently archived. Please use this time to get the contact details of people you'd like to keep in touch with. My contact details are here.

Please do not make a mirror copy of the forums in their current state - things will still change, and some people have requested to be able to edit or delete some of their personal info.

That's really good (and a good metaphor type thingy too) Yes

along dammit I ment alone god dammit I was in to much of a rush and I ment husk not hush.

The future... Its look so dark and bleeding. My future lays in pieces before me bleeding on purifitly just like the scars within. Between the scars lies the cold rearing fear that lfreezes and burns the inside of my mind. My pencil is my salvation, gospel and belief but not even that protects me from the future. the future is ugly yet the future is pretty but when I look toward it I cannot see anything but I know I can do nothing except stand their as it continues to bleed on.

My math teacher gave me insight for this in his class when he nagged us about the future.

Are we just freestyling here? I'll take a shot.

A fleeting glance over the rooftop,
Gives me meaning as I fly,
I want to go, no time to stop,
To rest would surely mean I die.

You care not, except for yourself,
That's the world, and the way,
Cast aside, I sit on the shelf,
Waiting for the whip, to flay.

Death is quick, but will it last?
It matters not at the moment,
Gambles made, die is cast,
When money comes, do you own it?

Selfish in life, death the same,
I fear the world won't change,
Beggars, homeless and even the lame,
They get no help, I think it strange.

I wish you could see the world,
I wish I could see it whole,
The plan however, soon unfurled,
Will make this life seem rather dull.

Selfish while you are living,
Selfish while you are dead,
Hope the next plane is forgiving,
If anything, that's well said.

ABAB the whole way. I'm going to call it Selfish Between Diminsions

"For those who believe, no explanation is nexessary. For those who do not, none will suffice."

I just wrote this one a week or so ago.

It’s never the same ground when I look down. Screams, yells, dirty knees, chips of dust and nests of bees, perpendicular jars of parallel hells a distant call to pitiful me. A part of me wants to flee. I say no, it’s a devastating blow, and the me retreats a little bit; a recurring jest, a damning skit. I look up. Tracing lines in the soilscape, amid the coiling purple and wiffle bat grey, eyes vacant feast on a world that lay, so close and oh so comatose, as a dying man, ambitious and deluded, mumbling words of an immortal. For this sick trick, time has slipped. But the soil kicks as the fault lines rip, and every eratic set of stares too unlate to be an evacuee, all look desparately for an escape. Me.
That’s why it’s never the same ground when I look down. ‘Cause It’s always the same frown when I look up. Always the same hick town when I wrestle the chance to look around. Me, he objects, he rejects, but I know better. I’m stronger than me. Because I’m a druid. Aged, fleetfoot and fluid. Preserved like and as in a jam.
But me, what a scam. They never told me what an analysis was. Just appeared, flickered and teared, a word who begged to be feared. SEARED; like a brand, into every raised hand that politely inquired all but a smile they never suspected, however funded and tired, worn like a badge on the brains that have never reflected. Weird.
The palms are awkward like a sheep, washed and just sheared. And weird.
I tell me my metaphors are tripping over themselves. Me myself can’t stand I, he’s just like the tracing lines, running and playing, none of them going and none of them staying!
There’s a primordial struggle, whipping and braying. The reins crack down, I’m back in contol. Don’t worry, I’m okay.
It’s never the same ground as I keep my virile eyes a long ways down. Once a blunderous thunder, now a faint charge, dreams torn asunder.
But there is happiness. I’ve succeeded.

It's called "programmed for success". Kind of like a half-slam half preachy thing. I love poetry Biggrin

Come to me.
Let me know,
You hear me.
My breath spills
All of my secrets.

Like pretty shells
I crush them into sand and
Build castles for you.

Talk to me.
Let me know,
You see me.
My words offer
Comfort, solicitude.

From my peripheral
I see where you look-
The tide is rushing in.

I promise,
We will rebuild.

I swear,
I won’t let you drown.

When I use blank verse poetry...I write a normal poem then shift around the words till it sounds cool....I could make a guide if I wasent in the process of making a good complex antaganist guide.

Here's one of mine, entitled "Eve Hallow's Fair" which I wrote to commemorate Samhain (Halloween).
Hope you like it Razz

Eve Hallow’s Fair

As the crimson shaded crackling leaves make their final bow
Footsteps fading, laughter waning, children leave their homes.
Pumpkin smiles and morbid styles stare down from cracked walls
Flickering flames echo screams of pain from long forgotten tombs.
Candles dance their silent play in dark enticing stalls
Come my dears, young and old, you’ll find our price is low.

Watch the ghostly wreaths of smoke twirl spirals in the air
The days of joy, the years of sorrow, they all begin to surface.
A waking dream brings distant pasts to life in hidden memories
And a hush of silence descends upon your terror stricken face.
On this dark descending night you hear a thousand stories
Tales eternal heard only at this most ill reputed fair.

Somewhere in the distance a booming clock strikes midnight
Shadowed figures, unseen voices, the veil begins to thin.
Dirt paths strewn with candy wrappers meet at sacred crossroads
There long lost loves with shrouded heads gather among their kin.
Beware the ringing blue bells, the black cats and poisoned toads
For on this crisp Samhain’s eve, fey magic clouds your sight.

I am honoured by your hatred.

justice once again..

Here's a poem I wrote a couple years ago.. when I was a less happy person. One of the few poems I've ever written that felt like it came out right.

And once again
I saw your face.
You would’ve thought I would be scared
And paralyzing fear would take my breath
But it did not
It forced it back
And suddenly there was too much air.
Not soporific, but enlivening
It was dizzy--
euphoric
But macabre
in euphoria
And I did no longer fear
And bitter, violent thoughts arose
Of inflicting horrors
You deserve
Reciprocation and so much more
Vengeance possibly unjust
But no justice
is to be found
When was it that fair punishment
And conversely, fair reward were seen?
Never were, are or
will they be found
That realization emerged to me
When the unused, uninflicted punishment was
self-inflicted
By me.

Someone needed to be punished
And “Justice” would not allow me to make it you.

One I just wrote, I haven't written in a long time.

"No love from sunshine
my flowers had to come from the pain." I wrote probably years ago, but only until now I found a place for it in a poem.

I know in time
I will see a beautiful sunrise
Feelings made of glass
Why does everything have to be put in a class?
Is that our way of understanding?
Instead of letting things grow
we keep them in the ground?
Most things die in the ground
But sometimes a beautiful plant grows
Some plants need not water to grow.
Their very will to grow is what keeps them alive.
No love from sunshine
my flowers had to come from the pain.
Are you the same?
Or will you wilt and wither from the strain?
Keep on growing until you burst out of the dirt
Keep going until you find the sun itself and soak in its rays.

nice poetry here!

here's one i'm sure everyone can relate to:

Useless work that I abhor
Classes that are such a bore
Waste of time and worthless rules
What went wrong with all the schools?

They call us lazy
Make us go crazy
I want to shout
I just want out

I feel the warmth

The evil is gone
I'll always be happy
With all mankind
