RIP School Survival Forums
August 2001 - June 2017

The School Survival Forums are permanently retired. If you need help with quitting school, unsupportive parents or anything else, there is a list of resources on the Help Page.

If you want to write about your experiences in school, you can write on our blog.

To everyone who joined these forums at some point, and got discouraged by the negativity and left after a while (or even got literally scared off): I'm sorry.

I wasn't good enough at encouraging people to be kinder, and removing people who refuse to be kind. Encouraging people is hard, and removing people creates conflict, and I hate conflict... so that's why I wasn't better at it.

I was a very, very sensitive teen. The atmosphere of this forum as it is now, if it had existed in 1996, would probably have upset me far more than it would have helped.

I can handle quite a lot of negativity and even abuse now, but that isn't the point. I want to help people. I want to help the people who need it the most, and I want to help people like the 1996 version of me.

I'm still figuring out the best way to do that, but as it is now, these forums are doing more harm than good, and I can't keep running them.

Thank you to the few people who have tried to understand my point of view so far. I really, really appreciate you guys. You are beautiful people.

Everyone else: If after everything I've said so far, you still don't understand my motivations, I think it's unlikely that you will. We're just too different. Maybe someday in the future it might make sense, but until then, there's no point in arguing about it. I don't have the time or the energy for arguing anymore. I will focus my time and energy on people who support me, and those who need help.

-SoulRiser

I don't know. I don't remember a lot about dreams but I did had a dream I was smoking weed for the first time I think and every time me or my friend would blow out smoke, it would look like we were sucking it back in. It was weird and I was surprised that I didn't notice it and start lucid dreaming because it seems like something I would, but whatever.

The Dream Topic

I find locations from real life or anime (I always see them after I dream about them, which is super weird.) in my dreams. Sometimes, i dream about certain people doing something, and then I wake up and see the same thing happening a few days later. It's weird, and doesn't seem controllable. Apart from that...normal dreams, I guess.

Whenever I have nightmares I wake up from the adrenaline Biggrin It's convenient, and i get time to figure out ways to kill or disarm whatever scared me.

Don't play chess with pigeons-they'll just knock over the pieces, shit on the board and strut about like they won anyway.

In my dreams I usually can't feel my feet and try to fly. The worst part is that I ALWAYS "wake up" when I try to fully open my eyes, and this happens usually when I try to become lucid after flying a bit. One really weird thing in my dreams is in the rare times I try to talk, I end up just talking in my head and forget to actually say anything. For some reason none of the people in my dreams ever talk.

Ok this was a weird dream, I honestly have no way to think about it
The dream started and I woke up in a bunk bed in a log cabin in a uniform, I got up and my gym teacher was there he was guiding the class outside and it turns out we were on a boat he then said "Alright class! Lets practice some swimming" obviously I was scared due to the fact that I can't swim so I go up to him and tell him that I can't participate in this and have Aquaphobia right then I see the most disappointed face I have ever seen, he EXPECTED me to know how to swim at my age, he facepalms and I just walk away, right then he grabs me and throws me right in to the water and the Dream ends and I wake up

RE: The Dream Topic

I had this weird ass dream last night about hanging out with my friends and everything all of a sudden going horribly wrong.

So, I'm walking in the city, by myself, minding my own business (TBH, I don't know what the hell I was doing, I think I was shopping for stuff like groceries, etc. Then, all of a sudden, I see this group of people who were my IRL friends, and I run up to them and say what's up. So, then, as I remember, I start talking and hanging out with them. Moments later, as we're talking we walk into this suburban area, and we go to this house (I vaguely remember it, typical California stucco home but with a concrete lawn, so it sorta looked ghetto), and all of a sudden one of my friends passes out, or something. All of a sudden, she's laying on the ground and she's not breathing. We're trying to save her life and I remember using shock paddles but not being effective. I say "Call a damn ambulance!". I remember during that period the dream turned into this sort of video game (similar to watch dogs). I forgot what I was doing though. It was a freaky-as-hell dream, for sure.
