RIP School Survival Forums
August 2001 - June 2017

The School Survival Forums are permanently retired. If you need help with quitting school, unsupportive parents or anything else, there is a list of resources on the Help Page.

If you want to write about your experiences in school, you can write on our blog.

To everyone who joined these forums at some point, and got discouraged by the negativity and left after a while (or even got literally scared off): I'm sorry.

I wasn't good enough at encouraging people to be kinder, and removing people who refuse to be kind. Encouraging people is hard, and removing people creates conflict, and I hate conflict... so that's why I wasn't better at it.

I was a very, very sensitive teen. The atmosphere of this forum as it is now, if it had existed in 1996, would probably have upset me far more than it would have helped.

I can handle quite a lot of negativity and even abuse now, but that isn't the point. I want to help people. I want to help the people who need it the most, and I want to help people like the 1996 version of me.

I'm still figuring out the best way to do that, but as it is now, these forums are doing more harm than good, and I can't keep running them.

Thank you to the few people who have tried to understand my point of view so far. I really, really appreciate you guys. You are beautiful people.

Everyone else: If after everything I've said so far, you still don't understand my motivations, I think it's unlikely that you will. We're just too different. Maybe someday in the future it might make sense, but until then, there's no point in arguing about it. I don't have the time or the energy for arguing anymore. I will focus my time and energy on people who support me, and those who need help.

-SoulRiser

another depressing story *yay*

It was Stephan’s 18th birthday party, it was a big deal of course since he could legally buy alcohol, cigarettes, porn, whatever sick indulgence he wished to drown himself in, sure saved time getting his big brother to buy it for him. She had met Stephan a year before at school. She had skipped P.E. and he was behind the school smoking and reading a book. She sat down next to him and they instantly connected. They talked about music, books, people and teachers at school and Tina knew that he would make a perfect boyfriend. A month after their first meeting Stephan had asked her out and she felt like the luckiest girl in the world.

The week before the party Stephan had been acting strange, rather distant. When Tina talked to him he seemed to be far away in his own little world. She would tell him about CD’s she had bought, movies she had seen and how her parents were driving her crazy but he never seemed to be really listening, though it hadn’t bothered Tina because she was so fucking in love with him, it seemed so stupid and pathetic to her now.

The night of the party she had been so excited, she had bought some bright purple hair dye at Price Attack earlier in the day and dyed it her self in fear that her mum would refuse to do it for her. She had done a pretty good job too, give or take a few patches near the back. She had also bought some “sexy” fishnet stockings to go with the dress she had bought a few months ago for her year 10 formal. A few hours before the party she was wrapping Stephan’s present with purple wrapping paper that had cartoon black bats with red eyes on it. She had bought him the complete George A. Romero DVD set because she knew how much he loved cheesy zombie films. She also bought him a necklace with an inverted pentagram on it because she remembered him eyeing one once when they were in Peril Underground.

She had decided to walk to Stephan’s house for the party, she had always felt embarrassed getting dropped off at parties by her parents. She felt so excited when she walked there, she couldn’t wait to see him. She thought that he must have had a surprise for her, which is why he had been acting strangely. She was getting quite near his house, the closer she got the more excited she felt, it was a bit cold out and she regretted not bringing a jacket.

When she got there she was a bit thrown back by the amount of people there, Stephan had told her it was going to be a small party. The smell of cigarettes and alcohol was everywhere, there was a bunch of people in the living room dancing, making out, smoking, drinking and she even saw one person passed out on the ground. She couldn’t find Stephan anywhere, was she late? How come so many people were there? She was confused about what was going on. A boy that she vaguely recognised came up to her and put his arm around her and gave her a drink.

“Hey, sexy, wanna come upstairs with me?” he said while staring at her chest.

“Ummm…no thanks but I will take this drink,” Tina said as she untwined herself from under his arm.

”oh…okay…well if you change your mind I’ll be in here” he said pointing to the ceiling, obviously drunk out his skull.

“Right…I’m going now” Tina said as she quickly walked away from the weird, drunk boy.

She’d never been to a party like this before with so many people, most of which were under the influence of something, whether it be alcohol, or their hormones, or both in the case of that boy she had just encountered. She looked at the beer he had given her, she didn’t feel like drinking, in case someone tried to take advantage of her which seemed quite probable considering how many people were drunk and the way she was dressed, which she was quickly beginning to regret.

She put the beer down on the bottom of the stairs then started climbing up them, hoping to find Stephan. It was too chaotic downstairs and she hoped everything would feel better once she found him, how wrong she had been. She climbed the stairs quickly and began opening doors on the upstairs floor. She opened the bathroom door to find a boy with bright green hair leaning over the toilet bowl puking his guts out, what the hell was wrong with Stephan’s friends? Why were people already drunk and vomiting?

She closed the door and shuddered, she could still hear him puking even with the door closed. She walked down the hallway a bit more and saw a mirror with a golden frame hanging on the wall, Tina was very insecure about her appearance and took every chance she could get to fix herself up. She flattened her hair down, fixed up her lipstick and eyeliner and made sure she had no food in her teeth. After she was done “primping” herself she continued down the hall and found a door which appeared to be Stephan’s parents bedroom, surely they wouldn’t be home, they wouldn’t stand for all this chaos.

She listened at the door to make sure she wasn’t about to walk in on something she didn’t want to see. She heard screams and moans of pleasure, which could only be the sounds of two people having sex. Feeling embarrassed Tina was about to walk off when she heard the female contender scream Stephan’s name. Tina was sure she had heard it wrong when the girl screamed his name again louder and clearer than before. Tina didn’t know whether to open the door or not, her eyes were beginning to water and a big knot of anger and anxiousness was growing in her stomach. She finally sucked it up and opened the door to find Samantha Anderson, naked, straddling her boyfriend.

“Oh God…” Tina whispered, too shocked at what she was seeing to speak any louder.

“Tina!” Stephan said in a surprised tone as he pushed Samantha off of him onto the ground.

“You bastard...” Tina said quietly. “YOU FUCKING BASTARD!!” She screamed at him, turning around and running down the stairs.

“Tina!” Stephan shouted at her from the top of the stairs, still naked.

Tina ran faster than she ever had in her life, her feet were killing her, she had blisters all over them and she had fallen and sprained her ankle but she still kept running, running away from him, from everything. When she got home she ran upstairs to her room and slammed the door and slid down it to sit on the floor. She took her black stilettos off and threw them at the wall. She started crying and screaming and hitting her head against the door.

After staying there for a good half hour or so, still sobbing quietly, she got up and looked at herself in the mirror, her make up was running down her face and her eyes were all puffy and wet from crying. She hated the way she looked, her nose was too big, her hair was too fluffy and she had too many pimples. She was still wearing that stupid red dress with the black lace on the hem and fishnet tights that made her look like a prostitute. Her blood red lipstick was smeared across her face and her eyeliner and mascara was running down her cheeks. She had dyed her hair bright purple for the occasion which was a stupid idea since the colour clashed with her dress. No wonder Stephen had cheated on her, look how ugly she was. Tina started sobbing uncontrollably again, how could he do this to her?

“God you’re so stupid! STOP CRYING YOU DUMB WHORE!” Tina shouted at her reflection. She was so ugly, she hated herself so much. With one swift movement Tina lifted her fist up and smashed it into the mirror. Tina started screaming again, blood pouring from her hand and bits of glass sticking out of it. Glass and blood was now strewn across the floor and she was now in intense amounts of agony, now both emotional and physical. She sat on the floor, crying and screaming, watching the blood pour from her hand, she couldn’t take this anymore, that bastard had betrayed her, she felt so worthless and ugly, there was nothing worth living for anymore.

Tina took her fishnet tights off and walked towards her closet, there was a metal bar across the top, meant for hanging clothes but tonight she would be hanging from it.

Great writing! This one was a little predictable after reading the other two, but still good. You are really talented at description- especially describing the characters, you make them seem so realistic!

Re: another depressing story *yay*

great story, you have an amazing imagination (sorry I didn't read it all but most of it seemed really amazing)

butterfly kisses xxx

COMMUNISM is when you have two cows, the governement takes both and gives you the milk
SOCIALISM is when you have two cows and give one to your neighbour.
NEW DEALISM (is when things go wrong) is when you have two cows, the government takes both, shoots one and milks the other but then throws the milk away.
CAPITALISM is when you have two cows and then sell one to buy a bull.
FACISM is when you have two cows, the government takes both and sells you the milk.
NAZISM is when you have two cows, the government takes both and shoots you.

I typed: "end of the world" into google and saw the hiroshima bombing and 9/11, irony much.
