My parents won't let me do home/unschooling in my schooling. :waah: I cant believe it! I am pissed and heartbroken at the same time. My dad has the bigger say in the matter than anyone, and he said something like this: "If you do homeschooling, you'll be getting away from what matters. You won't have any social skills, blah, blah, blah." Cuckoo

Okay. First, I think homeschooling is just what I need. I could get an extra half hour/hour of sleep in the morning, and I think that would improve my mood and stamina throughout most of the day, I could do my work in the comfort of my own home, on the couch, in bed,a t my desk, etc. I can do what I want for extra-curricular activities. Instead of running laps in the gym for P.E., I could go to the park and practice soccer. Basically, make my own schedule. And, I have a great example of something exactly like this. My dad partially retired. He still works part time for PPG Industries. And, he works AT HOME, on his OWN SCHEDULE, taking breaks and stuff at his OWN PACE, etc. And he loves it. And he tends to have a better mood, get more accomplished. Basically, he does a work version of homeschooling. And it works great for him. But he won't let me do it. And it would be like heaven for me. But no. I have to go back to Dipshit Land, the godforsaken little hellhole called Eden Christian Academy, the place I despise second-most in the world, because of my FUCKING PARENTS. Wtf

Refuse to go to school. Then they'll wake up to the fact that the only way you're getting educated is homeschooling.

if you had a job, sat in a cramped office, with 29 other people (or however many others there are in your class) who you dslike, were told you had to do eveything THEIR WAY and have no opinion, then had to take work home with you, would you still go? then you stay, get a promotion, and the work gets harder with no reward, less power over what you choose to do, and the same amount of free time, with more work to take home, would you quit it? because that is what school is like. tell your parents exactly how you feel, and they should do something about it, or you will have to.

Hey, I was sort of in your position about a month ago. I finally put my foot down and simply said No. And that was that. And it worked. You cannot be forced to go to school. Period.

Yeah thanks for the help everyone, but one thing i'm kind of scared of is being sent to one of those boot camps for "troubled teens". I think I'll take to the habit of sleeping with my Swiss Army Knife if I do refuse, just in case.

If you get sent to one of those, refuse to go. If they make you go sue for a violation of your civil rights or something, because I'm pretty sure they can't FORCE you to go. They may trick you into thinking you have to though.

That's absolutely not true. Though the Constitution restricts arbitrary detention or exile, remember - the law doesn't take you seriously until you're 18.

@Avenger - Keep a metal baseball bat under your bed. If you hit your "escorts" on the head hard enough, it won't kill them, but it'll render them unconscious.

You pretty are much forced to...as in they tie you up, your parents sign a few forms, and you get shipped overseas.

About that socialization argument... the last paragraph there is the best one.

EDIT: I wouldn't recommend trying to hit the big dudes that come to pick you up for boot camp. There's generally more than one of them, so while you're busy hitting the one, the other is probably already grabbing you. Just dodge them all and run like hell. Drop marbles behind you or something else to slow them down if you must do something though.

the more than one-guy thing, that's the only thing I'm afraid of. And considering I live on the 2nd and a half story (my room is inbetween the 2nd and 3rd) I think diving out the window is a lost cause. But I see my dad tomorrow, so maybe he'll see things from my perspective! Crossfingers

Soul does have a point there. I have to go to fucking tutoring (why in the name of god is beyond me, I'm smarter than most kids a grade up from me) tomorrow. Yuck

I had a talk with my mom yesterday, and she said that I'm either going to public school or ECA. FUCK!!!!
