RIP School Survival Forums
August 2001 - June 2017

The School Survival Forums are permanently retired. If you need help with quitting school, unsupportive parents or anything else, there is a list of resources on the Help Page.

If you want to write about your experiences in school, you can write on our blog.

To everyone who joined these forums at some point, and got discouraged by the negativity and left after a while (or even got literally scared off): I'm sorry.

I wasn't good enough at encouraging people to be kinder, and removing people who refuse to be kind. Encouraging people is hard, and removing people creates conflict, and I hate conflict... so that's why I wasn't better at it.

I was a very, very sensitive teen. The atmosphere of this forum as it is now, if it had existed in 1996, would probably have upset me far more than it would have helped.

I can handle quite a lot of negativity and even abuse now, but that isn't the point. I want to help people. I want to help the people who need it the most, and I want to help people like the 1996 version of me.

I'm still figuring out the best way to do that, but as it is now, these forums are doing more harm than good, and I can't keep running them.

Thank you to the few people who have tried to understand my point of view so far. I really, really appreciate you guys. You are beautiful people.

Everyone else: If after everything I've said so far, you still don't understand my motivations, I think it's unlikely that you will. We're just too different. Maybe someday in the future it might make sense, but until then, there's no point in arguing about it. I don't have the time or the energy for arguing anymore. I will focus my time and energy on people who support me, and those who need help.

-SoulRiser

The forums are mostly read-only and are in a maintenance/testing phase, before being permanently archived. Please use this time to get the contact details of people you'd like to keep in touch with. My contact details are here.

Please do not make a mirror copy of the forums in their current state - things will still change, and some people have requested to be able to edit or delete some of their personal info.

itsurgrlcass NaPo

Couldn't get to the internet yesterday, so I'm a day late x)

I can't write poetry for my life.
It's bullshit, just so you know. I was just playing around with words.

Day1:
Chaos in it's purest form
Beauty found inside the storm
A martyr of fragmented thoughts
Chasing what we've always sought
Ocean's wave and Fire's light
All endevors of the fight
Grow tall, stand strong, keep kind, be still
Its not what you know, but what you feel
Dance under the falling rain
Crazy, crazy, go insane
Sleep all day and up all night
And know forever we'll be alright

It's just chemicals.

Day 2:

Fragile and unique
I'm bursting at the seams
Boundless and lawless, unable to frown
Nothing in life can keep me down
I bind you together and keep you in place
Chaos and beauty tied with pink lace
You know who I am so scream my name loud
Who gives a damn if it isn't allowed?
Shout my name and I'll shout it back
Only in reason do I lack
But who needs reason? I'm rhyme enough
Pleased to meet you, my dear,
Just call me Love

It's just chemicals.

Day 3:

Asian lady Behind the wheel
he screams from the passenger seat
break break break break break
But the curb was hit anyway
And then he says
Fuck
Fuck fuck fuck
And runs to the tire
While I sit dumbly behind the wheel
Fuck fuck fuck fuck fuck
I get out, look at the tire
Untrained eyes see nothing wrong
But still
Fuck fuck fuck fuck fuck
He drives us home
Says I'm not ready
Says he's never gonna let me drive again.
Fuck fuck fuck fuck fuck

My dear old brother tried to teach my how to drive today. I hit a curb. Whoops.

It's just chemicals.

Re: itsurgrlcass NaPo

Much like poetry, driving is mostly about trying to stay in your lane and seeing how comfortable you are pushing the pedal down. I'm sure he will give you another chance, especially if he got to read your poem =p

Some cupid kills with arrows, some with traps.

Day 4:
Hiding behind a veil of mist
Don't let Him see me
I take refuge under the thick smoke
Desperately trying not to choke
A coward shivering, trying to hide
Just please
Don't let Him see me

It's just chemicals.

Day 5:
The mirror is a liar
Reflection revealing a face
Thick lashes and umber eyes
I long to break the smooth surface
Watch it shatter
Into a million unrecognizable pieces
Then ask the dear mirror
How it feels
To be the shell of the man it once was.

It's just chemicals.

Day 6:
Perhaps one day
When I'm about to embark on
Life's last great adventure,
The only remaining piece of me
Will be locked away
In backwards cursive.
Waiting patiently to be set free
In a great roaring fire.

Huhh.

It's just chemicals.

Day 7:
Summer nights
When the brightest lights
Are bonfires
Freckling the tranquil beaches.
Laughter and smoke rise
Into the booming sky.
Up and up and up
Until it fades into the darkness
Like smoke signals to God.

It's just chemicals.

Day 8:
We move as one
Together, trying to reach
Places higher than here.
Progress, progress
Mother nature pays the price

It's just chemicals.

Day 9:
Perhaps one day
I'll be able to see
The pieces of my soul
Lost in the pursuit of happiness
Until then, I'll wait patiently
Tiny bits and pieces escaping
With the rising smoke

It's just chemicals.

Day 10:
The wilting flower
Raises its face to the sky
Embracing its impending doom.
Soaking up the last bits of sun
Before it turns back to soil
Holding on to it's
Daylight sanity.

It's just chemicals.

Day 11:
Sunflowers and conch shells
Combat boots and church bells
Arms raised to the crying sun
Yelling loud to cease the fun
Walking tall against the sand
Take the world in its own hands
Defining today and finding tomorrow
Through laughs and pain
And love and sorrow

It's just chemicals.

Re: itsurgrlcass NaPo

Day 12:
Backwards cursive
Taints the page
Ink bleeding in the rain
Enjoying life and changing the world
The suffering passion
To make something out of nothing

It's just chemicals.

Hell, at least you're doing it. It looks good.
