RIP School Survival Forums
August 2001 - June 2017

The School Survival Forums are permanently retired. If you need help with quitting school, unsupportive parents or anything else, there is a list of resources on the Help Page.

If you want to write about your experiences in school, you can write on our blog.

To everyone who joined these forums at some point, and got discouraged by the negativity and left after a while (or even got literally scared off): I'm sorry.

I wasn't good enough at encouraging people to be kinder, and removing people who refuse to be kind. Encouraging people is hard, and removing people creates conflict, and I hate conflict... so that's why I wasn't better at it.

I was a very, very sensitive teen. The atmosphere of this forum as it is now, if it had existed in 1996, would probably have upset me far more than it would have helped.

I can handle quite a lot of negativity and even abuse now, but that isn't the point. I want to help people. I want to help the people who need it the most, and I want to help people like the 1996 version of me.

I'm still figuring out the best way to do that, but as it is now, these forums are doing more harm than good, and I can't keep running them.

Thank you to the few people who have tried to understand my point of view so far. I really, really appreciate you guys. You are beautiful people.

Everyone else: If after everything I've said so far, you still don't understand my motivations, I think it's unlikely that you will. We're just too different. Maybe someday in the future it might make sense, but until then, there's no point in arguing about it. I don't have the time or the energy for arguing anymore. I will focus my time and energy on people who support me, and those who need help.

-SoulRiser

The forums are mostly read-only and are in a maintenance/testing phase, before being permanently archived. Please use this time to get the contact details of people you'd like to keep in touch with. My contact details are here.

Please do not make a mirror copy of the forums in their current state - things will still change, and some people have requested to be able to edit or delete some of their personal info.

Oct 1st - Martial Law in America.

http://digg.com/world_news/BREAKING_MAR ... NG_OCT_1st

Fuck.

-------------

EDIT by Stratovarius:

(tl;dr version: Martial law is real, it's happened before in the U.S., arbitrary imprisonment of 120k Japanese-Americans was never ruled unconstitutional after WW2. The original source for the above digg.com article was from Army Times. I'm sure Army Times would lie about this right? LOL)

Unfortunately it has come to my attention that idiots who don't actually know anything about this love to spout stuff like "tinfoil hat" as NiteRaidah did and just looking at some of the replies on the digg.com article. I'll do everyone a favor and protect you from disinformation.

First, you wouldn't be saying such an uninformed thing and have your comments dripping with sarcasm and condescension if you actually like ... knew anything. LOL ... This has nothing to do with any "conspiracy theories" and I love how your ignorance shines through when you say that stuff because you attempt to lump in this factual news event with aliens. Nice going you ignoramus. I'm going to go ahead and destroy you now and/or inform you.

What is martial law? Essentially it's military involvement in domestic law enforcement. Simple enough. In the United States, there is the John Warner Defense Authorization Act of 2007 which gives the president the right to declare a public emergency and deploy soldiers in the military to occupy domestic territory. It also gives the president the right to federalize the National Guard which is supposed to be under the jurisdiction of governors (and ultimately the citizens) and deploy them.

Suspension of habeas corpus (the action by which a person can go before a court that will determine whether the imprisonment of themself or another is under fair detention) is often cited in conjunction with martial law. The reason is because there is an article within the Constitution quoted, "The privilege of the Writ of Habeas Corpus shall not be suspended, unless when in Cases of Rebellion or Invasion, the public Safety may require it." When the president declares public emergency, he can also just basically throw "rebellion" in there which is basically whatever we wants. The point is that it is arbitrary in that the president can label anything he wants as rebellion, public emergency, terrorist etc. Any true patriot that criticizes their government is going to be labeled a terrorist...well actually that's not entirely accurate...they already are.

Did you know Abraham Lincoln declared martial law by way of suspension of habeas corpus in the Civil War? No seriously. Habeas corpus was suspended, and this was later ruled unconstitutional. He wanted suspension on POWs, draft dodgers etc.

Did you know that 120k Japanese-Americans were imprisoned arbitrarily merely because of their race in WW2? Amazing how many people don't know this. Did you also know that this was never ruled as unconstitutional in the Supreme Court post-WW2? No seriously. They don't teach you these details in school unfortunately.

And with new laws hot from the press in just the past 2 years, this is all happening right now.

Anyway, if you want to know what martial law looks like... Probably this: protests will be illegal and people who hold them are liable to be imprisoned, curfews will be imposed in cities, arbitrary searches, ominous men walking around in full face plates and black body armor holding rifles, you will not be allowed to meet with more than 6 or 7 people (around that number) in public. Things of that nature.

Also, this won't happen right away. I mean, it's not like there's going to soldiers marching around towns on midnight October 1st...lol. And this is a very small unit we're talking about here. It's almost nothing. But it's a slow build up. There's a big difference between 0 soldiers and a few soldiers. Because people become accustomed to more and more until suddenly there really are soldiers marching around big cities.

Revive this topic a couple of years from now. Smile

I love the naysayers that think what we envision is mass rapage and killing everywhere. Not really. Fascist states look and operate just like free states from the outside.

Anyway, so anyone who doesn't know anything about what they're talking about honestly should shut the fuck up and go educate themselves in these matters before disinforming people. It's really damaging.

(*cue comments about how I contradicted myself because I just told some people to shut the fuck up when I'm a proponent of freedom or something LOL*)

Pretty much has been since WW2.

I'm stickying this since it's important. Don't be surprised if Bush cancels the election and FEMA opens 100s of concentration camps to put all the dissenters in.

I heard those camps are pretty nice. I think people of your sort will like it there.

Did you know that the imprisonment of 120k Japanese-Americans in WW2 was never ruled as unconstitutional? They could do it again and it would be legal.

Re: Oct 1st - Martial Law in America.

Just sit back and watch this thing unfold before your eyes. It might take a while (no more than several years from now), but it will come... don't say nobody warned you. Smile

Also, I bet you think that martial law declared on Oct. 1st will mean soldiers are going to be camped out in every town everywhere busting down people's doors randomly and killing for no reason. Actually, this is the image that is hurting us because people think, "Well I think it's going to be pretty obvious if fascism comes to America!" Nope. It starts off slowly then suddenly accelerates and you wake up the next morning and all your rights are gone.

You wouldn't be so sarcastic if you would learn a little bit about the societies of past fascist states. They look just like free states on the outside. No, I'm serious, go read.

Well at least you won't be labeled a 'dissenter' so good for you. You'll stay alive and not be put in prison.

I know, right? I'm glad that I was smart enough to not be like one of those daring enough to rise up against the exalted State.

Now, if you'll be so kind as to excuse me, I have dissenter to turn in. Citizen duty, you know.

You guize are useless.

So I read the article, and it said nothing about 'martial law'. This thread and the digg page gave the impression that there was some kind of crisis going on. So I wanted to know what caused it. lulz

Re: Oct 1st - Martial Law in America.

The only crisis right now is the economic crisis...

I guess the goverment is expecting something though...

Quote:The 1st BCT’s soldiers also will learn how to use “the first ever nonlethal package that the Army has fielded,” 1st BCT commander Col. Roger Cloutier said, referring to crowd and traffic control equipment and nonlethal weapons designed to subdue unruly or dangerous individuals without killing them.

“It’s a new modular package of nonlethal capabilities that they’re fielding. They’ve been using pieces of it in Iraq, but this is the first time that these modules were consolidated and this package fielded, and because of this mission we’re undertaking we were the first to get it.”

The package includes equipment to stand up a hasty road block; spike strips for slowing, stopping or controlling traffic; shields and batons; and, beanbag bullets.

“I was the first guy in the brigade to get Tasered,” said Cloutier, describing the experience as “your worst muscle cramp ever — times 10 throughout your whole body.

“I’m not a small guy, I weigh 230 pounds ... it put me on my knees in seconds.”

The brigade will not change its name, but the force will be known for the next year as a CBRNE Consequence Management Response Force, or CCMRF (pronounced “sea-smurf”).

“I can’t think of a more noble mission than this,” said Cloutier, who took command in July. “We’ve been all over the world during this time of conflict, but now our mission is to take care of citizens at home ... and depending on where an event occurred, you’re going home to take care of your home town, your loved ones.”

It starts Oct 1st... less than a week away... It woun't change anything at first though because they'll just be training in Virginia for the first few weeks.

Re: Oct 1st - Martial Law in America.

No government today would be stupid enough to spring martial law on America a period of only a few days. In fact, why bother with martial law at all? It sounds so harsh and unfriendly. A better way is to keep the political process intact so that everybody still thinks its a free country, but use propaganda, intimidation, and money to influence it the way you want. Slowly worm your way into the media and electoral process, buy all the politicions you want, manipulate the flow of information and shape the public's views. Nobody will fight back, not because they're scared but because the vast majority will not even know that there's anything wrong. In fact, they'll still believe it to be a free country and will do your job for you by branding anyone who sees the truth as a "traitor to American liberty and security." You will never see soldiers on the street. Why throw your population in an iron cage, when you can place them gently in a glass box with all the entertainment and conveniance they could ever want inside, and only interfere when things aren't going your way? A propaganda state, not a police state, is the future.

I wonder if they will use those freaky microwave-guns that can knick someone shitless from a distance. However, one thing I would never one to be on the recieving end of is the XM25, wich can blow the shit out of you from behind a wall:

Read the Wikipedia article. Basically, the interment of Japanese citizens was legal, the internment of ethnically Japanese American citizens wasn't. So much for "All men are born equal"...

Don't take life so seriously, it isn't permanent.

Re: Oct 1st - Martial Law in America.

what's absurd about the internment is that a few of them actually got shot trying to escape. i mean, what the hell is that? it's bad enough they were sent to the camps in the first place, but it was supposed to be just about keeping them out of the way where they could be monitored. do you really have to shoot the ones who made a run for it; they weren't criminals in prison! they were ordinary American citizens!

I think Buenaventura Durruti is a pretty cool guy. eh kills fascists and doesnt afraid of ruins.
The quickest way to kill a revolution is to wait for it.
