The Community on a server - Chanku - 05-05-2014 11:40 AM

Alright so I'm playing on the Wintreath Minecraft server(wintreath is a NationStates Region), and I formed the first player community in server. I'll put a rough little history thing and update this daily. This is focusing on the community that I formed(semi-intentionally), on the server.

History
Hidden stuff:

I spawned, found a nice little vally and built a hidey-hole, where I spent the first couple days. I finished my house and built a farm. I found a vilage and I had taken the crops from there. Then a new user joins and we meet up, I show him around and then he goes on his way, an IRL day later, and I find his house, which isn't too far from mine, we share some resources and eventually decide to build a pathway between our houses, I choose the path, he uses his cobble(of which he has a lot of) to build it. We build a rough pathway, and he gives me some extra cobble to finish the job. Later I decide to re-make a part of the pathway, into a bridge, which I finished today. I also decide to put wood ontop of the pathway(with cobble underneath it and acting as guard rails of sorts) to work better with the bridge, afterwards I begin to add guard 'rails' to the bridge. I run out of cobble and I trade with another player for some more cobble(15 stacks of it). I finish the bridge. I used up a good amount of wood in it(having 2+ stacks and ending up with a stack in a half of wood(all of this is oak)). Then the server owner logs on, and builds his house close to ours

Anywho the Community itself is An-Cap/An-Comm in a sense. We don't really trade if a user needs something they can ask and if the other person has it, and isn't using it, then usually they get it without having to trade(although sometimes trades do occur). The other guy is the miner, and I farm. Dunno what the owner will do....

Neat. If I had the money, I'd start a dedicated School Survival Minecraft server with all the essential plugins (and no mods necessary).

The Community on a server - Chanku - 05-06-2014 06:39 AM

Meh I'd have mods, because mods allow for advances beyond typical things, it allows for power, nuclear things, and war! However generally it doesn't take too much money IIRC, and you can host one from your own computer. If I could get the money I'd build my own server and host an SS one there.

The cost isn't what's stopping me, but the fact that it costs anything! I don't have a credit card nor a PayPal, and only have Minecraft because they sell the digital code for the game at GameStop.

The Community on a server - Chanku - 05-06-2014 07:15 AM

I can set it up, although I am going to need a bit of money to build a good server though.

I have my own server spare, and I did halfway set up a MC server that I intended for SS, but I gave up on that 'cuz I got bored. That plus it's noisy as fuck and don't want that shit running all the time.

The Community on a server - SoulRiser - 05-07-2014 01:11 AM

I've been tempted to make a SS Minecraft server actually...

I have minecraft. I don't often play though (usually my sister will use my account).

I have a badass skin btw

I'm beautiful <3

My skin is a panda in a suit, I wore it for a wedding in minecraft on a sever long ago, just don't care enough to change it now

RE: The Community on a server - Night - 05-07-2014 07:20 AM

I took so long to make my skin. I made it myself. I wanted to get the ender face exactly how it should be. also the hair. omg the hair.. They make it so hard.

The Community on a server - Chanku - 05-07-2014 07:22 AM

I used to make my own skins...

The Community on a server - Ky - 05-07-2014 07:36 AM

I basically copied the Tenth Doctor skin, changed the hair to blonde, and changed the interior suit color from blue to green. Razz

The Community on a server - SoulRiser - 05-07-2014 11:49 PM

I'm a ninja turtle Biggrin

... I should probably split/move this topic...

The Community on a server - Ky - 05-08-2014 06:32 AM

Nah, the discussion here is rather standalone. (It could benefit from a different title, though, like "General Minecraft Discussion")

The Community on a server - Chanku - 05-08-2014 06:49 AM

Actually it wasn't meant to be a minecraft discussion, it was meant to log the evolution of a minecraft community in server, which is where I placed it, nothing note-worthy has generally happened, which is why I placed it where I did.

The Community on a server - SoulRiser - 05-08-2014 09:50 AM

And then it evolved into general Minecraft discussion... which is why I moved it. Razz

The Community on a server - Chanku - 05-08-2014 10:04 AM

Why not split it? This way the original thread stays where it needs to be and the general discussion is elsewhere.

Me too, but then my entire motivation was lost when I found out how awful the Planet Minecraft community is.
