I wasn't around in the era, but there were some great games (that I play through DOSBox.)

Jazz Jackrabbit, Duke Nukem 3D, DOOM, Yoot Tower, and SimCity 2000 are the ones I have.

I have a 1998 hand-me-down laptop, but it has XP. I want to see if an uninstall is possible and if it is, what it has (95, 98,or 98 SE)

My First OS was most likely part of the Windows 9x era actually.

My first OS was Mac OS 8, but the first OS I saw was Windows 95, and the first OS I remember vividly is Windows ME.

It might have been ME, TBH I didn't even know what the first OS I had was.

Yeah. Lots of games then were quite entertaining. I was more the Dune 2k or Command & Conquer sort.

Sim Ant and Sim Farm are also among my old favourites.

SimCity 2000 is probably still the best in the series (just guessing.. I only tried 1 or 2 of the newer ones, and didn't like them).

Oh, I used to play Stunts a lot. Best graphics EVAR!!!1

You're making me want to go dig them out of storage again... Might need a Virtualbox for them now... even if only because I don't want them fullscreen. xD

I saw 3000 as being the more serious looking version of 2000, which looked more like some retro arcade game. Not that anything is wrong with that(both were quite fun).

My favorite was SimCity 1 on SNES, but that isn't DOS or Win9x.

ME is the last of the 9x era, but it is sometimes mistaken for the beginning of the NT-client era.

I liked 98(It was 98? I keep confusing 97-98, since one was the actual OS the other MS Office). My father had this Compaq with 95/98/2000. Didnt use 95 much except for certain games.

Yes. I bit my teeth on gaming at the tail end of this era, and consider myself lucky to still have copies of the classics I played then, and then some. DOOM, SimCity, the old Maxis games, and some abandonware strategy games I picked up and made a thread about a while ago. I even find DOS and the general character of 90's computer tech to be fun.

Half Life 1. Yes, 9x gaming was awesome.
