RIP School Survival Forums
August 2001 - June 2017

The School Survival Forums are permanently retired. If you need help with quitting school, unsupportive parents or anything else, there is a list of resources on the Help Page.

If you want to write about your experiences in school, you can write on our blog.

To everyone who joined these forums at some point, and got discouraged by the negativity and left after a while (or even got literally scared off): I'm sorry.

I wasn't good enough at encouraging people to be kinder, and removing people who refuse to be kind. Encouraging people is hard, and removing people creates conflict, and I hate conflict... so that's why I wasn't better at it.

I was a very, very sensitive teen. The atmosphere of this forum as it is now, if it had existed in 1996, would probably have upset me far more than it would have helped.

I can handle quite a lot of negativity and even abuse now, but that isn't the point. I want to help people. I want to help the people who need it the most, and I want to help people like the 1996 version of me.

I'm still figuring out the best way to do that, but as it is now, these forums are doing more harm than good, and I can't keep running them.

Thank you to the few people who have tried to understand my point of view so far. I really, really appreciate you guys. You are beautiful people.

Everyone else: If after everything I've said so far, you still don't understand my motivations, I think it's unlikely that you will. We're just too different. Maybe someday in the future it might make sense, but until then, there's no point in arguing about it. I don't have the time or the energy for arguing anymore. I will focus my time and energy on people who support me, and those who need help.

-SoulRiser

The forums are mostly read-only and are in a maintenance/testing phase, before being permanently archived. Please use this time to get the contact details of people you'd like to keep in touch with. My contact details are here.

Please do not make a mirror copy of the forums in their current state - things will still change, and some people have requested to be able to edit or delete some of their personal info.

Re: School Bathrooms

My school bathrooms aren't too bad but people don't like to hit the toilet sometimes or they have terrible aim. They get cleaned often though.

Couple years ago, someone took a dump in the urinal and they locked the bathroomes during class, and if you had to go in the middl eof class you had to go on an adventure through the school to get a key and someone had to watch you while you were in the bathroom.

There is a bathroom on every floor and the whole school has like 20 students.

Re: School Bathrooms

My school's bathrooms aren't that bad. Some of the stall locks were deliberately made so the bolt is an inch lower/higher then the hole, and every once in awhile someone pees on the floor... But other than that they're ok. Still no privacy though, and you have to sign out on this stupid sheet.
In my last school, they didn't have a main door to prevent smoking or something. It was creepy as hell though, because bathrooms seem to amplify sound, and you could clearly hear what your teacher down the hall was saying.

Re: School Bathrooms

The restrooms at my old school didn't have a main door either. Not even a doorway where a door could go, Just a big opening. It sucked to because then the hallways always smelled horribal Yuck

Re: School Bathrooms

Officially, to go to the restroom at my school you must:
1. Have your planner (which nobody uses except to go piss)
2. Have your I.D. (nobody carries them)(if you don't have it and go anyway you get a detention)
3. Get your planner signed
4. Sign out in a book
5. Go piss

How it really works:
1. Get any planner signed (people often borrow others planners)
3. Go piss

Re: School Bathrooms

Thats a little overkill there...
At my school, you just sign into a sheet indicating your first and last name, teachers name, and time in and time out.
But having to get your planner signed and presenting I.D..... Thats just overkill and rediculous Noo

What have these schools come to???

Yeah it is. At least nobody follows the official rules. Most teachers don't even fuck with the agenda thing. They just let you go.

Re: School Bathrooms

We have to sign out on this chart thing in every classroom then take a pass. Some teachers are ok and you don't even have ask them to go, you just sign your name, time, and where, take the pass and go. We had planners last year, but some classes had sheets.
Still, another reason I hate school. They want to control and monitor everything you do at all times.

Well thats good, if I were a teacher, i wouldnt want to through all of that just so i can let my students relieve themselves

As for teenagewasteland, some classrooms you have to sign out on a chart and other classrooms in my school, you can just simply take the pass but when you get to a bathroom, you have to sign in and out on a sheet at a desk next to the bathroom...

Wow, signing in at the bathroom is stupid. They'll probably make us do that soon... but I hope not.

It is absolute and utter b.s i tell you. Thats why i cut my bathroom usage down to once in the morning and once during lunch so i dont have to constantly sign in all of the time.

The music block toilets are new, and aren't that bad. The Maths\Science ones are a bit old, and some smart person thought it would be very intelluctual to draw a large penis on the wall. The history ones have chewing gum on the wall, and the Geography block smells of cigarettes because
large gangs of chavs go to smoke fags in there.
The same toilet is also old, smelly, and never has any toilet paper.
