RIP School Survival Forums
August 2001 - June 2017
The School Survival Forums are permanently retired. If you need help with quitting school, unsupportive parents or anything else, there is a list of resources on the Help Page.
If you want to write about your experiences in school, you can write on our blog.
To everyone who joined these forums at some point, and got discouraged by the negativity and left after a while (or even got literally scared off): I'm sorry.
I wasn't good enough at encouraging people to be kinder, and removing people who refuse to be kind. Encouraging people is hard, and removing people creates conflict, and I hate conflict... so that's why I wasn't better at it.
I was a very, very sensitive teen. The atmosphere of this forum as it is now, if it had existed in 1996, would probably have upset me far more than it would have helped.
I can handle quite a lot of negativity and even abuse now, but that isn't the point. I want to help people. I want to help the people who need it the most, and I want to help people like the 1996 version of me.
I'm still figuring out the best way to do that, but as it is now, these forums are doing more harm than good, and I can't keep running them.
Thank you to the few people who have tried to understand my point of view so far. I really, really appreciate you guys. You are beautiful people.
Everyone else: If after everything I've said so far, you still don't understand my motivations, I think it's unlikely that you will. We're just too different. Maybe someday in the future it might make sense, but until then, there's no point in arguing about it. I don't have the time or the energy for arguing anymore. I will focus my time and energy on people who support me, and those who need help.
-SoulRiser

Re: How many students do you think actually dislike school?
Numbers are impossible here.
But in terms of averages:
1.- 5%
2.- 75%
3.- 20%
(This is based off of my school's population, which, is well, retarted.)
I highly suggest Mobb Deep's albums The Infamous and Hell on Earth, if you have not listened to it yet.

I'm surprised at the percent of students that took the neutral position.

Re: How many students do you think actually dislike school?
I don't think that many like school.
I also don't think that many dislike.
I'm guessing that they (referring to the students at my school) just don't care.

Re: How many students do you think actually dislike school?
I think a lot of students just don't question it. They don't ask themselves: "Do I like school? Is there any point in it?". This is a result of brain washing, we are led to believe school is an unquestionable part of life.
Don't take life so seriously, it isn't permanent.

I think this is mostly the case indeed.

Yep, I agree with Puchiko too. The majority never asks themselves that question... That is a question that they will need to think about if they are ever to turn from the "dark side".

I think most people actually dislike it, but they've been brainwashed to believe that it's necessary.

Re: How many students do you think actually dislike school?
I like some aspects of it, like my tech classes, but other subjects are just pointless, I hate other people in high school. They care too much about others and not themselves. I found that most do not like school but are there because they think its the only way to be successful when really there being turned into lab rats.

10 like it

most of the students at my school seem indifferent. they are more bothered about the uniform than being made to go to school.

Re: How many students do you think actually dislike school?
I think a lot of them don't like it, but they don't really understand why. They've never thought about the political aspects of it and are preoccuppied with tests, homework, all that trivial stuff. And after a while they start to see disliking school as being something childish that they need to grow out of. Our main problem is that not enough people are aware of the real, serious problems with the system. They still think it's just about kids getting unfair amoungs of homework and shit like that.

1. Almost all
2. All of them
3. I don't think they dislike school (probably brainwashed)

Re: How many students do you think actually dislike school?
Many of them dislike school (with these kind of conditions, who wouldn't?), but if we just want the actual anti-school people, the number drops considerably.
The only good signature is a dead signature.

Re: How many students do you think actually dislike school?
Most of the kids in my school seem subdued by it. They like it because they think it's beneficial for their future. But then you'll find them sitting in a corner covered in books and papers pulling their hair out over some assignment and stressing until they explode. Yeah that's the road to a happy life....

How many students do you think actually dislike school?
In our school I think there is about 25-30 percent. Among that percentage only about 15% are actually 'intellectuals.' The other 85% are probably people who does not do good anyways.
