RIP School Survival Forums
August 2001 - June 2017
The School Survival Forums are permanently retired. If you need help with quitting school, unsupportive parents or anything else, there is a list of resources on the Help Page.
If you want to write about your experiences in school, you can write on our blog.
To everyone who joined these forums at some point, and got discouraged by the negativity and left after a while (or even got literally scared off): I'm sorry.
I wasn't good enough at encouraging people to be kinder, and removing people who refuse to be kind. Encouraging people is hard, and removing people creates conflict, and I hate conflict... so that's why I wasn't better at it.
I was a very, very sensitive teen. The atmosphere of this forum as it is now, if it had existed in 1996, would probably have upset me far more than it would have helped.
I can handle quite a lot of negativity and even abuse now, but that isn't the point. I want to help people. I want to help the people who need it the most, and I want to help people like the 1996 version of me.
I'm still figuring out the best way to do that, but as it is now, these forums are doing more harm than good, and I can't keep running them.
Thank you to the few people who have tried to understand my point of view so far. I really, really appreciate you guys. You are beautiful people.
Everyone else: If after everything I've said so far, you still don't understand my motivations, I think it's unlikely that you will. We're just too different. Maybe someday in the future it might make sense, but until then, there's no point in arguing about it. I don't have the time or the energy for arguing anymore. I will focus my time and energy on people who support me, and those who need help.

How to cure politics
I was sitting here overhearing the news on TV and I realized how little any of that shit really matters. If you watch the news every day and get annoyed/depressed or affected in any way by what the politicians are rambling about, then they win. They have control over your life. The best thing you can do is just ignore it. They can't rule your life without your permission. Watching their every move is giving them permission and is eating up time you could spend actually living, actually doing things that matter to you. They're not worth that time. Most of the things they do will make very little difference to your life anyway, so fuck it.
EDIT: Politicians are like trolls... just don't feed them, and everything will be fine.

Re: How to cure politics
If our government didn't have control of the most powerful military in human history, I'd agree with you. But the NSA showed us, at least in America, what can happen when the public stops paying attention.
Unless we watch the politicions, they'll start watching us.

Re: How to cure politics
If nobody took the politicians seriously, they would have no power, because nobody would obey any of their laws or orders or anything. I know 99% of the human population will not make this work because they're scared of people with power, but the irony is that without their fear, those people would have no power in the first place.

Fear, unfortunately, is not so easily cleansed from the masses. Infact, the only plausible way to clear fear from the world would be to instill a greater, yet temporary fear in their hearts that would expire when all the politicians are gone. There are obvious problems with this, but damn it, it's all I can come up with right now.

the proplem is if no one took them serously no one would vote on there ideas but them. and we would end up taking it up the ass.
life is just blah blah blah. we hope for blah, and sometimes we find it. but mostly its blah. and waiting for blah. and hoping you were right about the blahs you made. and when you think you just got the whole blah damn thing figured out, and your surrounded by the ones you blah. death shows up and blah blah blah.

It depends though,
When the Germans voted Hitler in, they didn't take him seriously, none of their polititions had ever done what they said they would, why would this new guy be any different...

For once, I agree with classclown. Today's governments and militaries are too well established to just ignore. When an individual President carries around a briefcase filled with enough nuclear launch codes to take out all life on Earth, the game changes. The people have to be vigilant and let the politicions know that they can't get away with things behind their backs.
