RIP School Survival Forums
August 2001 - June 2017

The School Survival Forums are permanently retired. If you need help with quitting school, unsupportive parents or anything else, there is a list of resources on the Help Page.

If you want to write about your experiences in school, you can write on our blog.

To everyone who joined these forums at some point, and got discouraged by the negativity and left after a while (or even got literally scared off): I'm sorry.

I wasn't good enough at encouraging people to be kinder, and removing people who refuse to be kind. Encouraging people is hard, and removing people creates conflict, and I hate conflict... so that's why I wasn't better at it.

I was a very, very sensitive teen. The atmosphere of this forum as it is now, if it had existed in 1996, would probably have upset me far more than it would have helped.

I can handle quite a lot of negativity and even abuse now, but that isn't the point. I want to help people. I want to help the people who need it the most, and I want to help people like the 1996 version of me.

I'm still figuring out the best way to do that, but as it is now, these forums are doing more harm than good, and I can't keep running them.

Thank you to the few people who have tried to understand my point of view so far. I really, really appreciate you guys. You are beautiful people.

Everyone else: If after everything I've said so far, you still don't understand my motivations, I think it's unlikely that you will. We're just too different. Maybe someday in the future it might make sense, but until then, there's no point in arguing about it. I don't have the time or the energy for arguing anymore. I will focus my time and energy on people who support me, and those who need help.

-SoulRiser

The forums are mostly read-only and are in a maintenance/testing phase, before being permanently archived. Please use this time to get the contact details of people you'd like to keep in touch with. My contact details are here.

Please do not make a mirror copy of the forums in their current state - things will still change, and some people have requested to be able to edit or delete some of their personal info.

Re: REMEMBER THAT FIRST DETENTION BOLDY YOU EARN

My only detention was in 2nd grade when I picked up a big stick like, "Oh, I'm the guard of this place," when me and my friends were playing some game. The guard came up and I got 45 minutes after school detention.

Re: REMEMBER THAT FIRST DETENTION BOLDY YOU EARN

There is no such thing as a detention here in our country. Although I feel that there is a similar approach being employed here, I cannot remember what it is.

Couldn't you simply refuse?

Carla Franklin has never denied that on the afternoon of the third of August 2006 she raped and killed sixteen children celebrating their friend's fifth birthday and forced their parents to share a dinner of their remains.

I dunno, to me detention always seemed more like a high school thing.

Re: REMEMBER THAT FIRST DETENTION BOLDY YOU EARN

I got a detention in 8th grade because one of my friends asked me for a piece of paper during a test.

I never served it, and they didn't seem to care. I thought it was odd.

How old are your desks and tables? Some of ours have been here since the 1970's.

Re: REMEMBER THAT FIRST DETENTION BOLDY YOU EARN

I got detention because I forgot to do my homework. This was in my old school in 5th grade- where the policy is that if don't do HW, you get lunch detention...that means no recess :(
ridiculous
even my current high school doesn't give detentions for something like forgetting to do HW
I'm glad i moved though I still hate school

Re: REMEMBER THAT FIRST DETENTION BOLDY YOU EARN

I recieved my first detention when I was in first grade. I was about to put my backpack into my cubby. This girl named "Kelly" was in the process of putting her backpack into her cubby, and was completely oblivious to my backpack that was sitting right under her fat ass.(The cubbies were low to the ground, so you had to sit on the ground to get them in properly.)

I simply told her: "Hey, you're sitting on my backpack!" Apparently, my tone hurt her feelings. Her response was: "SORRYYYY!" in that whiny, obnoxious voice that almost all first-graders have.

Well, her tone pissed me off. I don't remember much, but I do remember slamming her face into the classroom floor a bunch of times, and having my teacher attempt to pry me off of her. I'm pretty sure my nails were embedded into her throat by the time the teacher managed to get me off of her.

Anyways, I got a lunch detention, and she ended up getting a detention as well, because I lied and told the teacher that she had started it by stabbing me with a pencil. Lucky me, there happened to be a pencil laying right next to the scene where it had all went down.

Yeah, good times. Minus, of course, the school.

Also, I just realized I spelled "bear" wrong in my sig. I changed it, but, how disgraceful...
