RIP School Survival Forums
August 2001 - June 2017

The School Survival Forums are permanently retired. If you need help with quitting school, unsupportive parents or anything else, there is a list of resources on the Help Page.

If you want to write about your experiences in school, you can write on our blog.

To everyone who joined these forums at some point, and got discouraged by the negativity and left after a while (or even got literally scared off): I'm sorry.

I wasn't good enough at encouraging people to be kinder, and removing people who refuse to be kind. Encouraging people is hard, and removing people creates conflict, and I hate conflict... so that's why I wasn't better at it.

I was a very, very sensitive teen. The atmosphere of this forum as it is now, if it had existed in 1996, would probably have upset me far more than it would have helped.

I can handle quite a lot of negativity and even abuse now, but that isn't the point. I want to help people. I want to help the people who need it the most, and I want to help people like the 1996 version of me.

I'm still figuring out the best way to do that, but as it is now, these forums are doing more harm than good, and I can't keep running them.

Thank you to the few people who have tried to understand my point of view so far. I really, really appreciate you guys. You are beautiful people.

Everyone else: If after everything I've said so far, you still don't understand my motivations, I think it's unlikely that you will. We're just too different. Maybe someday in the future it might make sense, but until then, there's no point in arguing about it. I don't have the time or the energy for arguing anymore. I will focus my time and energy on people who support me, and those who need help.

-SoulRiser

The forums are mostly read-only and are in a maintenance/testing phase, before being permanently archived. Please use this time to get the contact details of people you'd like to keep in touch with. My contact details are here.

Please do not make a mirror copy of the forums in their current state - things will still change, and some people have requested to be able to edit or delete some of their personal info.

Anarchy - Media Hype or Strong Ideal? (Clarification)

TrueAnarchist Wrote:I'm an Anti-American

(but what else would you expect from an Anarchist? Wink )

TrueAnarchist, sorry my friend, but you are going to be my example. TA (TrueAnarchist because im lazy from here) brings up the term anarchist as the media and society depicts it. He uses the term to represent anyone "Anti-System" This fact is false. An anarchist has been brought up by people to mean someone who is “a punk rebel just going against the current and trying to wreak havoc”. TA uses this phrase to just mean, Fuck The System, its not so. Urbandictionary lists the phrase as:

5. anarchist
anti-government, plain and simple. all forms of hierarchy are rejected by an anarchist. Almost communism or socialism but in the same way not really. think of martial law. the only person who rules over you, is yourself.

6. anarchist
1. One who supports the concept of anarchy.

2. Obnoxious 12 year old whose primary reading material is totse.com, wears shitty scream metal t-shirts or hooded sweatshirts bearing the ever-so-rebellious "anarchy" symbol, and fantasizes about gunpowder and pipe bombs while masturbating. Usually very short-tempered, this being a direct result of their unbelievably cruel upbringing as a scrawny, middle-class white kid in the suburbs.

These two are what you’re average kid in high school, middle school or even college may think of in the term. In fact, we are a very different people. Most of us are pacifists, meaning we bring out our ideals in a civilized peaceful manner, not with pipebombs and painting As on our binders.
Essentially what we believe is that in time, with enough control from something, the rights and rules of our society will be followed blindly, just as our morals to not kill a baby or not to love a relative intimately do. We would just morally find it wrong to break in and steal, it does not mean a system in which we go to work kill our boss and take over the company, just to get shot up in a week, as sooner or later, we would find it wrong to do such a thing. While this may sound good in theory, our essential plan does require a set of written laws, that become a form of morals over time. This would work if a small genocide were to occur or any form of population downsizing, as on a massive scale, “Anti-Anarchists” would come and ruin the system.
This may not flow well, I’m writing this quick, but I hope you get a good idea of what the terms “Anarchy” and “Anarchist” truly mean, not what people want them to mean.

TRIGGER WARNING: THIS TRIGGER WARNING CONTAINS TRIGGER WARNINGS!

Dear Tumblrites: Despite your wrongly self-diagnosed PTSD, no line of scientific evidence suggests people can be triggered over the internet. Triggering works through the senses (i.e. smell, taste, touch, vision, hearing.) but it goes through real time; if you're not experiencing it in real life as it's ACTUALLY HAPPENING in your ACTUAL life, you CANNOT be triggered. The only exception to this is if you have a seizure, but then again, that's triggered by epilepsy (i.e. rapidly-changing flashing lights) NOT PTSD. Remembering a bad incident is NOT the same thing as having a flashback. When you remember, you think; when you flashback, you feel.

The person is only insulting you if you take someone pretty much saying you aren't an anarchist to heart.

And, welcome, S.

Yeah, I do too.

Totse was shut down in January of this year all because of its selfish fucking creator, Jeff Hunter, wanting to "have a life."

Seriously, a "life?"

I've lost all faith in humanity.

Thank you for welcomes, ill make an official intro in the intro section when I get some time, let you guys know about me.

As for the article, Im not gonna try to brag, but I wrote that in 11 minutes, 3 of which spent using UrbanDictionary (lags a lot now for some reason?). I've always had a knack for persuasion and essay writing. If only we were actually taught to write essays. I asked my English teacher to teach us persuasive essay writing techniques, instead we are doing scrapbooking works we ALREADY WROTE for the last 2 weeks of school, waste of my time, but I get a nap.

Sorry forgot to get permission to site you in an article, but thanks for permission now, I still hope you didn't take offense, if you did, this is a formal apology.

Yeah, the admins/mods here won't do that.

Unless, they're playing a joke on you. But more often than not, you're in on it, if that makes any sense.

The creator, SoulRiser, contributes very much to the discussions, and the moderators do the same.

Max Stirnir Wrote:"In the time of spirits thoughts grew till they overtopped my head, whose offspring they yet were; they hovered about me and convulsed me like fever-phantasies -- an awful power. The thoughts had become corporeal on their own account, were ghosts, e. g. God, Emperor, Pope, Fatherland, etc. If I destroy their corporeity, then I take them back into mine, and say: "I alone am corporeal." And now I take the world as what it is to me, as mine, as my property; I refer all to myself." The Ego and Its Own, pg. 15

S.: Welcome to SS. We aren't kooks, most of us anyway.

Your essay is great, and although it's short, it clears up everything quite well.

Oh, and no, I don't bother with MSN, although I do have an email account. (gMail)
