To everyone who joined these forums at some point, and got discouraged by the negativity and left after a while (or even got literally scared off): I'm sorry.

I wasn't good enough at encouraging people to be kinder, and removing people who refuse to be kind. Encouraging people is hard, and removing people creates conflict, and I hate conflict... so that's why I wasn't better at it.

I was a very, very sensitive teen. The atmosphere of this forum as it is now, if it had existed in 1996, would probably have upset me far more than it would have helped.

I can handle quite a lot of negativity and even abuse now, but that isn't the point. I want to help people. I want to help the people who need it the most, and I want to help people like the 1996 version of me.

I'm still figuring out the best way to do that, but as it is now, these forums are doing more harm than good, and I can't keep running them.

Thank you to the few people who have tried to understand my point of view so far. I really, really appreciate you guys. You are beautiful people.

Everyone else: If after everything I've said so far, you still don't understand my motivations, I think it's unlikely that you will. We're just too different. Maybe someday in the future it might make sense, but until then, there's no point in arguing about it. I don't have the time or the energy for arguing anymore. I will focus my time and energy on people who support me, and those who need help.

IRC

Having returned to SS from my extended hiatus, I was wondering what is the IRC channel that is now being used. I remember the great IRC war between the mods of the SS IRC and Kitsune (whatever happened to him) and I remember a new IRC was established, but I don't quite remember the channel and how to access it.

One problem - the minute I entered I got kicked by Darthmat. The next time I tried to get in, it told me that I have been banned from the channel.

I honestly think we should bring back the official irc. I'm not having trouble anymore but it just seems kind of pointless to simply delete irc instead of solving the problem. if any problems actually exist that is (kitsunes bitching isn't a good reason to close irc. lol)

Yes. I can understand why you got rid of it, since it was basically a theater of war between Kitsune and some mods, but now that that is hopefully behind us, I think the IRC should be brought back. Just look at the SS forums, where the cancer and aids was successfully stopped.

That's how it is now, but the take it or leave it thing wont work if the IRC becomes official.

So I don't think it should be official, or we're gona have certain people not being allowed in, simply because this itisi fellow doesn't like them much. It's clear how that channel is run, I think if there's going to be an official one it should be another, not this one, which is clearly still plagued.

But if you freak out, and throw a fit, itisi will be a lot less inclined to be on your side, even if what happened to you was unfair. Sorry if that's unfair in itself, but that's not just the deal with IRC, that's the deal with everywhere you go (IRL or online). That's just my advice on how to deal with people though, you can take it or leave it.

Well, it depends how you define "we", but there is a chat that a number of people from here frequent, see above for instructions.

P.S. The kickbanning is stupid (short of someone being truly disruptive) and is not the norm.
