RIP School Survival Forums
August 2001 - June 2017
The School Survival Forums are permanently retired. If you need help with quitting school, unsupportive parents or anything else, there is a list of resources on the Help Page.
If you want to write about your experiences in school, you can write on our blog.
To everyone who joined these forums at some point, and got discouraged by the negativity and left after a while (or even got literally scared off): I'm sorry.
I wasn't good enough at encouraging people to be kinder, and removing people who refuse to be kind. Encouraging people is hard, and removing people creates conflict, and I hate conflict... so that's why I wasn't better at it.
I was a very, very sensitive teen. The atmosphere of this forum as it is now, if it had existed in 1996, would probably have upset me far more than it would have helped.
I can handle quite a lot of negativity and even abuse now, but that isn't the point. I want to help people. I want to help the people who need it the most, and I want to help people like the 1996 version of me.
I'm still figuring out the best way to do that, but as it is now, these forums are doing more harm than good, and I can't keep running them.
Thank you to the few people who have tried to understand my point of view so far. I really, really appreciate you guys. You are beautiful people.
Everyone else: If after everything I've said so far, you still don't understand my motivations, I think it's unlikely that you will. We're just too different. Maybe someday in the future it might make sense, but until then, there's no point in arguing about it. I don't have the time or the energy for arguing anymore. I will focus my time and energy on people who support me, and those who need help.

The forums are mostly read-only and are in a maintenance/testing phase, before being permanently archived. Please use this time to get the contact details of people you'd like to keep in touch with. My contact details are here.

"I heard a joke once. Man goes to doctor says "I'm terribly depressed". Doctor says "I know just what you should do. Poliacci the clown is in town, go see him, you'll be cheered right up." The man bursts into tears. "But Doctor, I am Poliacci." Funny joke. Roll on snare drum. Everyone laugh."
Lovey Wrote:I want to learn more English. I want to be able to pop off multi-syllabic words like it ain't a thing.
I'm studying French, Japanese, and a teeny bit of Korean right now. (Honestly, with Korean, I only care about the Hangul. It's fcking beautiful.) I wanna learn those, and Russian, German, Mandarin, and Spanish. And Latin. And then maybe Klingon, just cause.
If I could learn every language, that would be nice.
Considering that the majority of the English language is multi-syllabic, you might just be screwed.
Because, Mr. Bumpington, you delete a post and they crush up speed and crack, snort it, inject themselves with adrenaline and make more like fucking crazy!
Spanish, Lojban, Russian, German.
I used to be learning Russian, but then I had no use of my little knowledge and forgot it. Now I'd have use of it! Damn.
I took German classes since my 6-years-old to my 14-years-old, live in Alsace, often go in Germany to buy stuffs, and only know fake deutsch and some keyphrases/keywords.
I'd like to learn Spanish since I've a Spanish penpal and it happens I try some Spanish with him, but know it even less than German. Lojban just seemed interesting.
In any case, I need to wait until I've more time. :'( Stupid exams.
I know only French, English (not perfectly but can maintain a conversation), and Esperanto (lack of vocabulary, but can maintain a conversation).
Damn, that's a few months short of being a year bump. Russian, Zulu, and perhaps enough Spanish to get the jist of it. Also I need to learn C++ or Java to help Corbin and Cody.
"Ask them no more questions, never hear them lying"
People say the problem with me is I have psychotic tendencies and care not about other human beings I don't like and or know. So?

Start with visual basic and go to http://hackforums.net most there are leechers or script kiddies but some are actually useful and know what they're doing.
Right now I would love to learn swahili, but I need to improve my french first. (I've been caught using google translate one too many times )

Fuck visual basic. I took a class on Visual Basic in college and all I got out of it was me.close. Learn python first. It's ridiculously easy to learn, even I figured out how to make simple programs in a week or two of using it. More importantly it's open source, which means you don't have to pay Microshit for the priviledge of learning how to create computer programs.

I've used online translators too many times when I was still learning english. That's not necessarily a bad thing, even if frustrating.
Translators aren't perfect, but gives you an idea of the meaning.

French is my mother language and my English is not that bad (at least I hope so) and my school already offers Spanish... So I would like to learn German, Japanese, Icelandic, Finnish, Russian and maybe Latin.

Dear Tumblrites:Despite your wrongly self-diagnosedPTSD, no line ofscientific evidencesuggests people can be triggered over theinternet. Triggering works through thesenses(i.e. smell, taste, touch, vision, hearing.) but it goes throughreal time; if you're not experiencing it in real life as it'sACTUALLY HAPPENINGin yourACTUALlife, youCANNOTbe triggered. The only exception to this is if you have aseizure, but then again, that's triggered byepilepsy(i.e. rapidly-changing flashing lights)NOT PTSD. Remembering a bad incident is NOT the same thing as having aflashback. When you remember, youthink; when youflashback, youfeel.

C and Java. Maybe C++. Maybe some more Python. Maybe x86 and/or x86_64 assembly. I don't intend learning more "actual" languages, it wouldn't be useful in anything other than showing off, I think. Too much effort.

I love to learn French and Japanese. I have already started learning French. It is a pretty interesting language, but the only confusion is, in French writing and the pronunciations are varied.
I'm learning German and I know some French, plus an even smaller amount of Spanish. I want to learn Pitkern and Inuktitut/Inuit, maybe Icelandic and Norwegian. But I also want to achieve full fluency in German, the others don't bother me as much.
