RIP School Survival Forums
August 2001 - June 2017
The School Survival Forums are permanently retired. If you need help with quitting school, unsupportive parents or anything else, there is a list of resources on the Help Page.
If you want to write about your experiences in school, you can write on our blog.
To everyone who joined these forums at some point, and got discouraged by the negativity and left after a while (or even got literally scared off): I'm sorry.
I wasn't good enough at encouraging people to be kinder, and removing people who refuse to be kind. Encouraging people is hard, and removing people creates conflict, and I hate conflict... so that's why I wasn't better at it.
I was a very, very sensitive teen. The atmosphere of this forum as it is now, if it had existed in 1996, would probably have upset me far more than it would have helped.
I can handle quite a lot of negativity and even abuse now, but that isn't the point. I want to help people. I want to help the people who need it the most, and I want to help people like the 1996 version of me.
I'm still figuring out the best way to do that, but as it is now, these forums are doing more harm than good, and I can't keep running them.
Thank you to the few people who have tried to understand my point of view so far. I really, really appreciate you guys. You are beautiful people.
Everyone else: If after everything I've said so far, you still don't understand my motivations, I think it's unlikely that you will. We're just too different. Maybe someday in the future it might make sense, but until then, there's no point in arguing about it. I don't have the time or the energy for arguing anymore. I will focus my time and energy on people who support me, and those who need help.
-SoulRiser
The forums are mostly read-only and are in a maintenance/testing phase, before being permanently archived. Please use this time to get the contact details of people you'd like to keep in touch with. My contact details are here.
Please do not make a mirror copy of the forums in their current state - things will still change, and some people have requested to be able to edit or delete some of their personal info.
If it is not already there. I could probably do it, but i don't know how.

Carla Franklin may be a whore. She may be a wonderful, kind, moral woman. Seeing as I don't know her personally, I cannot know for sure. However, I find her actions (suing Google, requesting the personal info of her critics, getting angry over random internet idiocy that she should ignore and be bigger than, trying to get this site in trouble because of a few users' commentary on the situation, etc.) pretty ridiculous and unwarranted. If she didn't want people to to be talking about/judging her, well 1. that's impossible, she's a human, and 2. she shouldn't have been a model or agreed to be on film. AND 3. she DEFINITELY shouldn't have sued Google and made all this fuss over a few random idiots whom she probably won't ever know expressing their opinion. Mmkay? MMKAY.

"Worst is a place of work where you are expected to be “creative” in implementing the imagery from above and where you are expected to celebrate this made-to-measure “creativity” of “advancement” and “success.” This workplace robs you of both your creativity and your outrage at being robed, thereby imbedding you into your own death while plasticizing a smile on your face."-Denis Rancourt

I've seen so much shit done to youth and for some reason, this has made me angrier than I've felt in years. Abuse and oppression happens all over the world. It's a terrible reality of modern society, but we've all accepted that it happens and we're doing what we can to fight it and build a better world.
But this...this mindless, condescending disrespect toward people who have no legal voice with which to defend themselves, this reduction of parents' betrayal into a cheap crack about kids being computer-savvy...it's like watching a surgeon joke about life insurance while his patient bleeds to death on the operating table. The media's job is to protect society from oppression and they've drawn a clear line between the people worth protecting and the people that don't matter. How can they people sleep at night?
You're a journalist. DO. YOUR. FUCKING. JOB.

People [including myself] get this all the time. "10 years down the road" as if life has ever been that certain. No matter what you do - what college majors you take - what lifestyle terms you choose - the future is always equally uncertain. That's not an excuse not to try for the best for yourself - but keep in mind - You can drop out and later become one of the richest people in the world [monetarily or otherwise] or you can go to law school and end up homeless - or vice versa. There's really no way to tell. Making decisions based on where you want to be 10 years from now is the wrong angle of approach to take.
Try to understand who you are, what you want, and how you want to get there - use that as your base criteria to develop ideas from. Take it from me - good ideas are often more important than just good choices. Ideas can open opportunities and solve multiple issues at the same time. They tend to open options that allow you to make choices where the choice previously didn't exist. If you only made good choices with the choices you are given, you won't go as far. However, good ideas must be inspired from proper understanding. Dropping out of compulsory school is one of many great ideas if orchestrated well and understood correctly.-David B who is a SS member. Look him up.
It takes much more courage and intelligence to face truth as it is, out in the world and inside oneself, without wishful thinking or preference based on a superficial view of reality.

The only exception to this is if you have aseizure, but then again, that's triggered byepilepsy(i.e. rapidly-changing flashing lights)NOT PTSD. If people say public school is education and homeschool is education, then education is a place that can be clearly found everywhere due to the resources involved in the outside world and the digital world that can be used for learning purposes which is also known as educational purposes. There are resources just about everywhere from people's experience, libraries, experiencing to learn, internet, home with books and working area. There's no way to get out of education because of the definition of education would be the places of resources and these places are literally observed everywhere no matter where you go unless you have lack of learning area in your brain, then you wouldn't be able to have education by that terms ever and destructive rebels don't fit this definition as it is clearly seen they do have the knowledge of what to say and what could cause destruction. If you mean education as if it require the degree to be educated, then it wouldn't matter if they have the knowledge of many subjects to fit that term of being educated. In that case, then to have the education would require to have the degree itself and nothing else.-StylizedCarfan1
