RIP School Survival Forums
August 2001 - June 2017
The School Survival Forums are permanently retired. If you need help with quitting school, unsupportive parents or anything else, there is a list of resources on the Help Page.
If you want to write about your experiences in school, you can write on our blog.
To everyone who joined these forums at some point, and got discouraged by the negativity and left after a while (or even got literally scared off): I'm sorry.
I wasn't good enough at encouraging people to be kinder, and removing people who refuse to be kind. Encouraging people is hard, and removing people creates conflict, and I hate conflict... so that's why I wasn't better at it.
I was a very, very sensitive teen. The atmosphere of this forum as it is now, if it had existed in 1996, would probably have upset me far more than it would have helped.
I can handle quite a lot of negativity and even abuse now, but that isn't the point. I want to help people. I want to help the people who need it the most, and I want to help people like the 1996 version of me.
I'm still figuring out the best way to do that, but as it is now, these forums are doing more harm than good, and I can't keep running them.
Thank you to the few people who have tried to understand my point of view so far. I really, really appreciate you guys. You are beautiful people.
Everyone else: If after everything I've said so far, you still don't understand my motivations, I think it's unlikely that you will. We're just too different. Maybe someday in the future it might make sense, but until then, there's no point in arguing about it. I don't have the time or the energy for arguing anymore. I will focus my time and energy on people who support me, and those who need help.

I found out why my parents support school
In this vacation, I have observed there was so many places that doesn't contain too much resources to learn from other than school such as internet and books. From here, it's possible to conclude my parents grown up with the thought of that school is required for the learning of the world when alternatives are hardly available because of the lack of resources back in the 1970 when it was an developing (probably) country. Lack of resources other than school simply means you're most likely better off to go through public schooling to learn back in the day. Lack of resources also led that alternative form of education are simply hard to access which may have an effect on the society by getting those who go through what the majority have gone through may think those who took the alternatives as if it wasn't an proper form of education. I know it's sad, but it's something that I found which may have lead to an idea of why your parents grown up with the thoughts that public school is the only decent education at the moment.
On the sidenote, visiting the country I'm at makes me depressed seeing at how people treats the animal with minimal care for them to survive and sad that the majority in here could get an education only at school due to the lack of availability of resources in here. The noticing convince me to stop rebelling seeing at how my mother grew up in this country with some degree of evidence that proves my claim for this country noticing how I won't be able to convince her because of it.
You can move this to school talk if you want to, mods.

Re: I found out why my parents support school
This, makes me sad. The stereotype that school is the only place to learn is extremely messed up. Having information spat at you is in no way a good way to learn, I would much rather look at something I am interested in and I would learn much about it (genetics!!).
If the conditions are not right to learn anywhere else than school, humanity as a whole has lost its ability to think.
Anything that ever happened or will... one condition, it has to be amazing.
