RIP School Survival Forums
August 2001 - June 2017

The School Survival Forums are permanently retired. If you need help with quitting school, unsupportive parents or anything else, there is a list of resources on the Help Page.

If you want to write about your experiences in school, you can write on our blog.

To everyone who joined these forums at some point, and got discouraged by the negativity and left after a while (or even got literally scared off): I'm sorry.

I wasn't good enough at encouraging people to be kinder, and removing people who refuse to be kind. Encouraging people is hard, and removing people creates conflict, and I hate conflict... so that's why I wasn't better at it.

I was a very, very sensitive teen. The atmosphere of this forum as it is now, if it had existed in 1996, would probably have upset me far more than it would have helped.

I can handle quite a lot of negativity and even abuse now, but that isn't the point. I want to help people. I want to help the people who need it the most, and I want to help people like the 1996 version of me.

I'm still figuring out the best way to do that, but as it is now, these forums are doing more harm than good, and I can't keep running them.

Thank you to the few people who have tried to understand my point of view so far. I really, really appreciate you guys. You are beautiful people.

Everyone else: If after everything I've said so far, you still don't understand my motivations, I think it's unlikely that you will. We're just too different. Maybe someday in the future it might make sense, but until then, there's no point in arguing about it. I don't have the time or the energy for arguing anymore. I will focus my time and energy on people who support me, and those who need help.

The forums are mostly read-only and are in a maintenance/testing phase, before being permanently archived. Please use this time to get the contact details of people you'd like to keep in touch with. My contact details are here.

Please do not make a mirror copy of the forums in their current state - things will still change, and some people have requested to be able to edit or delete some of their personal info.

I think Im still under the effects of the brainwashing

Everyone must know that school is a prison, of course. And in school, everything you do that is not right for them, it is considered a crime. A huge sin that goes against everything. That's what they do, make you see things their way. But everyone knows this already, so I will get to the point. I sometime get the feeling that I am brainwashed.
A good example of me still brainwashed : sometimes when I say I forgot something, am late for class or do something wrong, I get this overwhelming feeling of being guilty and that I've just committed a sin. But when I look back at it, it was nothing... What I did affected no one and did absolutely fucking NOTHING TO ANYONE. So why does I still get this feeling T.T
I AM FKREEKING BRAINWASHED!!! ZOMBIIE!! Aaawaeghrshndfhnrsdkhnsdrh. lol I dont know, what do you guys think?

All men who have achieved great things have been great dreamers.

You feel like you're committing a "sin"?

TRIGGER WARNING: THIS TRIGGER WARNING CONTAINS TRIGGER WARNINGS!

Dear Tumblrites: Despite your wrongly self-diagnosed PTSD, no line of scientific evidence suggests people can be triggered over the internet. Triggering works through the senses (i.e. smell, taste, touch, vision, hearing.) but it goes through real time; if you're not experiencing it in real life as it's ACTUALLY HAPPENING in your ACTUAL life, you CANNOT be triggered. The only exception to this is if you have a seizure, but then again, that's triggered by epilepsy (i.e. rapidly-changing flashing lights) NOT PTSD. Remembering a bad incident is NOT the same thing as having a flashback. When you remember, you think; when you flashback, you feel.

I know the feeling, I had that for a looong time. I don't get it that much anymore, but I still sometimes have the urge to make up some random excuse instead of tell the truth if I forgot to do something...

I still kinda have it at 23... but it lessens as time passes and is almost non-existent but does come back sometimes.

Re: I think Im still under the effects of the brainwashing

Sometimes, I feel as I am partially brainwashed by school. One part of me, the brainwashed one, feels guilty while the other part, the one resisting to the brainwashing, simply says "FUCK THIS" without feeling guilty at all.

Good thing is, I'm not entirely brainwashed. One day, I hope, the free side shall liberate the imprisoned side and lead me to a better life. Buttrock

I get the same feeling too. Mostly I say "FUCK THIS" and try to calm/ensure myself that everything will be ok. Just let your "FUCK THIS" side win. Or just come up with a retarded excuse that will keep you out of trouble (eg:When I don't do my English homework on Mondays I always say that I was "mowing the lawn" or "was busy working outside" )

Yeah, I still kinda brainwashed too, even after 3 years of graduating. I still wanna kill those who picked on me in high and middle school, and sometimes I have no self-confidence.
