RIP School Survival Forums
August 2001 - June 2017
The School Survival Forums are permanently retired. If you need help with quitting school, unsupportive parents or anything else, there is a list of resources on the Help Page.
If you want to write about your experiences in school, you can write on our blog.
To everyone who joined these forums at some point, and got discouraged by the negativity and left after a while (or even got literally scared off): I'm sorry.
I wasn't good enough at encouraging people to be kinder, and removing people who refuse to be kind. Encouraging people is hard, and removing people creates conflict, and I hate conflict... so that's why I wasn't better at it.
I was a very, very sensitive teen. The atmosphere of this forum as it is now, if it had existed in 1996, would probably have upset me far more than it would have helped.
I can handle quite a lot of negativity and even abuse now, but that isn't the point. I want to help people. I want to help the people who need it the most, and I want to help people like the 1996 version of me.
I'm still figuring out the best way to do that, but as it is now, these forums are doing more harm than good, and I can't keep running them.
Thank you to the few people who have tried to understand my point of view so far. I really, really appreciate you guys. You are beautiful people.
Everyone else: If after everything I've said so far, you still don't understand my motivations, I think it's unlikely that you will. We're just too different. Maybe someday in the future it might make sense, but until then, there's no point in arguing about it. I don't have the time or the energy for arguing anymore. I will focus my time and energy on people who support me, and those who need help.
-SoulRiser

Something rage-ish my English teacher said Today.
So near the end of the class, we were discussing essays. More descriptively, planning sheets. And then..my teacher said this.
Quote:None of you are capable of writing an essay without doing a planning diagram.
RAGE. This is an opinion..is it not? Discuss.

Ageist FTW?
Bias is always around, nothing anyone can do will remove it, it is best to just laugh at what it reveals of said person's character.
Anything that ever happened or will... one condition, it has to be amazing.

Bullshit, I've written plenty of essays from scratch.

So have I.
She's said a lot of opinionated stuff before, and i've been thinking about writing it down, but just haven't. This did it, I'm officially gonna start doing so. Soon enough i'll probably have an official thread.

She's bullshitting you, obviously. I wrote an essay for my (AWESOME) ELAR class and ended up with a 93 on it. And I didn't make an outline until I finished the essay.

Wow, some people just don't realize that people are different and what works for one may not work for another.

I was about to say to do something about it teaming up with other intellectuals who tends to get pisspoor academic grades, but let see the results of doing it.
On a side note.

Either it's an faulty inference or an fact that cannot be proven thus an error.

She said it again today. Was tempted to raise my hand and tell her that that was an ageist comment and she can't judge us just by our writing. For some reason, I felt I would've been referred as a result of back-talking though.

AND GUESS WHAT he fuckin almost won the history fair. I was half a word from slapping her seriously

I too write better without that planning bs. The school is slavery article I posted on here as well as my torture guide were both improvised on the spot.
My English teacher is cool as hell. If he weren't a teacher he'd probably be a comedian, and we share a lot of political views surprisingly. And of course we don't have to plan any of our writings. ^_^

I did, to the best of my abilities. No results yet. And no, the other people in my class are Class F druggies who don't give a care in the world about their future.
@TDF: Yeah. It's a pink slip that means anything from detention, to suspension based on your crime. Either way it involves being sent to administration and a phone call home.

Well, I always thought it was common knowledge. It's not like I'm going to do an outline on dolphins and then write about canaries, right?

True dat. I mean when you get ideas you think you'll get them all at once? All writers take time to write because sometimes ideas come at random times and so a outline is like forcing your brain to think so its kinda of artificial as where letting it come to you more natural.

I sympathise. Our head teacher told us on repeated occasions that our teenage minds cannot possibly comprehend some kind of books. Can't remember which though, some French thing. And then she recommended that we read books appropriate to our age. D:
Let go of all desire for the common good, and the good becomes common as grass.
