To everyone who joined these forums at some point, and got discouraged by the negativity and left after a while (or even got literally scared off): I'm sorry.
I wasn't good enough at encouraging people to be kinder, and removing people who refuse to be kind. Encouraging people is hard, and removing people creates conflict, and I hate conflict... so that's why I wasn't better at it.
I was a very, very sensitive teen. The atmosphere of this forum as it is now, if it had existed in 1996, would probably have upset me far more than it would have helped.
I can handle quite a lot of negativity and even abuse now, but that isn't the point. I want to help people. I want to help the people who need it the most, and I want to help people like the 1996 version of me.
I'm still figuring out the best way to do that, but as it is now, these forums are doing more harm than good, and I can't keep running them.
Thank you to the few people who have tried to understand my point of view so far. I really, really appreciate you guys. You are beautiful people.
Everyone else: If after everything I've said so far, you still don't understand my motivations, I think it's unlikely that you will. We're just too different. Maybe someday in the future it might make sense, but until then, there's no point in arguing about it. I don't have the time or the energy for arguing anymore. I will focus my time and energy on people who support me, and those who need help.

Carla Franklin may be a whore. She may be a wonderful, kind, moral woman. Seeing as I don't know her personally, I cannot know for sure. However, I find her actions (suing Google, requesting the personal info of her critics, getting angry over random internet idiocy that she should ignore and be bigger than, trying to get this site in trouble because of a few users' commentary on the situation, etc.) pretty ridiculous and unwarranted. If she didn't want people to to be talking about/judging her, well 1. that's impossible, she's a human, and 2. she shouldn't have been a model or agreed to be on film. AND 3. she DEFINITELY shouldn't have sued Google and made all this fuss over a few random idiots whom she probably won't ever know expressing their opinion. Mmkay? MMKAY.

First, I don't plan to work under a boss as I think it's a silly system; I have other things that I love to do and hope to pursue as careers long into my old age. Second, my certificates will still say I took all these high school classes; it just won't note that I took them all online in a few minutes time. You cannot even spell properly. You my friend, fail. I am in High School and run my own business. I am quite successful, and have been offered a job at Google Montreal (Who didn't know I was only 17). School has not benefited me in any way. It looks like it hasn't done you much good either.

I know this has been a long time since the user has been here, but I want to argue nonetheless.
Why the hell are you worrying about our future and thinking we're all going to be failures? A lot of us aren't looking to drop out and many of us are looking to get into college to get a useful education. We just hate having to drag our ass nearly every day of our lives being forced fed "information" which we may have 0 interest in with many other people that don't want to be there as well. We hate having our civil rights stripped in a confined institution in which we must obey authority at all costs. We hate being forced to memorize rather than actually learn.
And we don't hate education here. In fact, it's the exact opposite of that. A lot of us love to learn, but we prefer to learn at our own pace, using our own sources, during our own time, and not have to obey some authority in a confined institution. As an example, I've learned far more about the history of Europe at home than I have in school.
We just hate the current "education" system as I described above. We're forced there against our will. We can't leave because if we do we'll be labeled "defiant" and eventually get arrested. We don't like memorizing things and being pressured to do well on standardized testing. We don't like to feel less than human and forced to obey authorities. We don't like being forced to be in a confined area with many other people which we may not like. Fuck the schooling system.
